I was my father's caregiver for the last 4 years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease 17 years ago and my siblings and I have been keeping a close eye on the progressive disease to ensure that if we needed to move him out of independent living and into assisted living, we could do so swiftly with the least amount of damage. That did not happen. He entered advanced stages of dementia earlier this year and it happened so quickly that the next step of our plan had to be executed just as quickly. We moved him into a facility that had great (but older) reviews and just as quickly as we got him in there, we wanted to move him out immediately. That's when we heard of The Sanctuary. My sibling was able to network with those who had loved ones that have been cared for by The Sanctuary and every concern we brought to them was easily assuaged. My sister and I learned from our previous experience to observe the staff and residents as much as we could, and we were presented with an opportunity to do so. The environment was calm and peaceful. The staff seemed at ease and content to be working there. The resident we chatted with had assistance from one of the nurses. The nurse was able to tell us about the residents interests, life and family. She had also been reading a book with her when we came in. If you are unfamiliar with assisted living facilities, then you should know that a staff member having the time to read to a resident or being intimately familiar with a residents life down to knowing their family members names and being able to tell us about their life is uncommon. That is exactly what you want for your loved one. I couldn't even get the prior facility to properly administer the medication and services my father needed. When we moved him in to the previous assisted living, management nudged other residents to welcome my father. The managers did not greet my father, and I was so disappointed that I called my siblings and begged them to reconsider our initial choice to move him into that facility (we had already had so many communication issues as it was). He has been at the Sanctuary for two and a half months. He was at the previous facility for 3 weeks. We wanted him out sooner but we were waiting for an open spot at The Sanctuary. From the moment we started talking to The Sanctuary, we never once had to follow up to get answers to our questions. They were ready and waiting for my father's arrival and had lunch ready for him to eat as well as compliments to shower him. They helped us unpack his belongings, and for the first time in the worst two months I had of being my father's caregiver, I felt confident about leaving him in good hands. The RCC Jackie loves what she does and loves the residents like they're her family. It's all I could want for my father. Being your loved one's caregiver is not an easy task. In a lot of ways, I'm as anxious over my own father's wellbeing as I would my own child. The amount of stress I endured with the previous facility caused my hair to fall out, sleepless nights, chest feeling tight 24/7, and lots of crying. If you can learn from my mistake, it will have been worth it to help another person with Dementia/Alzhemiers. I have not once been concerned about my fathers care at The Sanctuary. I have cried out of relief and gratefulness, my hair has been growing back, and I haven't gotten a single phone call that I need to drop everything to help soothe my father (that happened at the place we had him at previously). My father is less agitated. He can call us on the phone now with assistance. He's being regularly medicated the way he should be. I know without a doubt that he isn't missing meals. The staff listens to our concerns and they also take his own concerns seriously. They pay attention to him and encourage him to sing, dance and talk about his areas of interests. I can't say enough good things about The Sanctuary.

The staff is very helpful, responsive and interactive with the residents. It has the feel and surroundings of a home versus a facility.

While my dad was only at The Sanctuary for a few days, he spent the last month in excited anticipation. This brings me great comfort. I was able to wheel him out of his room and give him a brief tour of his gorgeous new home and show him the lovely back yard. Then a guitarist came in and performed, my father smiled and I knew that he loved it. His days were brief, but your staff made him so comfortable and took such good care of him. In gratitude, Alison

My dad has been at The Sanctuary for two and a half months now, and I truly can't thank the universe more for aligning and leading us here right when a new location was opening and had vacancies. My dad has had Parkinson's for over 15 years and entered the later stages of dementia at the beginning of this year, leaving me and my sisters scrambling to find appropriate care for him. Soon after beginning a nightmare experience at an assisted living community, we were told about The Sanctuary by an acquaintance, and after doing lots of research we couldn't wait to get him moved over. Even the difference in experience with onboarding was a night and day difference. They made it as easy as possible for us, were highly communicative and accommodating, and accepted my dad with such a warm welcome. It truly was the exact opposite of the experience we had with the assisted living facility he was at previously, and we felt an immediate sense of calm and relief the day we moved him in. The communication and professionalism has only continued throughout the past two months, and any concerns we have are swiftly addressed. My dad has improved so much in the past two months. Of course, he still battles his disease and other illnesses, but his overall demeanor is completely different. He's happier, more talkative and lively. With the amazing nurse to patient ratio, we never have to worry about him getting his medications late or his needs being neglected. The nurses are incredibly sweet and patient, even going so far as to make my dad's favorite cobbler recipe for him. He happily told me yesterday how Jackie made him a delicious smoothie and how he wants to get a crockpot for the house so he can have them try making his favorite chili recipe. It feels so good having actual conversations with my dad again, having him engage with us and talk about things he's excited for. Knowing he has the quality of care anyone would want for their loved one is truly a godsend, and I'm thankful for everyone working at The Sanctuary making it possible.

We recently moved Mom to the Sanctuary and are thoroughly happy with our decision. We worried a bit at first about whether to make the move because she was okay in her previous assisted living community. But we moved because we didn't want our mom to be just okay. We want her to have the best possible care available. We have found it at the Sanctuary. The six-resident model is ideal and ensures that individuals receive the care they need and deserve. The Care Team at the Sanctuary is truly exceptional. Their proactive and compassionate approach to caregiving has been a source of comfort and reassurance for us. One night, when Mom was running a low-grade fever, a caregiver went above and beyond her duty, staying beyond her shift until a nurse arrived to assess Mom. This level of dedication and care is what sets the Sanctuary apart. The Sanctuary has not only provided our mom with a safe and comfortable living environment, but it has also significantly improved her quality of life. The spacious and light-filled common spaces and bedrooms, along with their impeccable cleanliness, have made it easy for her to navigate despite her Dementia. She has become more independent, often wheeling herself from the common areas to her room. Her anxiety levels have dropped, and she now enjoys socializing with the caregivers and other residents. We are grateful we've had the opportunity to place Mom in such a beautiful home setting. She is happy, and we are happy. An added benefit is that when we visit, we can relax and enjoy just spending time with her.

If you are reading this you know having a loved one in a memory care facility requires constant diligence to ensure their needs are met and they are safe and clean and entertained. In less than two years we moved mother twice. At our wits end after an egregious situation in the last place we happened upon the sanctuary. The aesthetic is lovely, but a chandelier doesn't take care of your loved one, so I want to highlight what did. The care and genuine love the staff had for residents, the round the clock eyes to ensure the safety, paying attention to what our mother liked and did not. Not everyone wants soup for lunch, and it was no problem to pivot to something else. When mom was ill, they sat with her in her room for days and hand fed her. When she pushed back on bathing they soothed her and got her to bathe. Mom never wanted for anything. We were finally able to relax and trust and even took a trip for the first time in five years! Communications with us was outstanding, it was lovely to know how her day was when we asked, and we'd even hear when we didn't ask! It's a fabulous respite. Nothing is perfect but this place came really really close! Sadly mom passed months after moving in, but we believe it is because she was finally able to let go knowing she was safe and with excellent souls around her.

Forget everything you thought you knew about memory care. The Sanctuary is clean, open and well-kept. The staff is kind, knowledgeable about memory care and, most importantly, caring. My mother is at The Sanctuary at Allison (#5) and her being there has put my mind at ease. Making the decision to move a loved one to a memory care environment is hard. It gets harder when you start to visit the facilities that seem to just warehouse elderly patients. Then you visit any of The Sanctuaries and you realize that this is what you've been looking for. The meals are home cooked. The environment is like a home, with comfortable chairs and quiet areas to visit with your loved one. I can't say enough about the staff. They know my mother. They know what she likes and dislikes. They keep me informed if something is off. They treat her like family, and I couldn't ask for more than that. If you need a place for a loved one, do yourself a favor; call The Sanctuary and schedule a visit. The peace of mind is worth it.

I am a music entertainer with a background in Music Therapy. This past December 2023, I began working at the 4 senior homes with the amazing staff, senior residents (who are often joined in my groups with their families) & co-owner Jessica Saks who has been extremely responsive to not only the needs of residents & staff but also to me & my duo partner when working with us. Jessica wants to insure that all of the homes' groups provide a safe haven & interactive and engaging experience for each resident. I work directly with RayAnn when booking my groups on a monthly basis. I can't speak highly enough of all who I have encountered at the 4 homes! The staff take excellent care of the seniors, the atmosphere is truly a wonderfully positive environment where I would be 100% comfortable living there myself or placing a loved one in their care! The food they serve looks & smells amazing! The care I have observed has been top-notch. The seniors seem very happy, content & well loved. I would highly recommend this community of houses to anyone looking to place their loved ones in a safe & comforting environment with a true homey atmosphere & they are super clean! 5 stars is not high enough to rate The Sanctuary at Stonehaven. This is THE place you would want to give your loved ones their home away from home!

The Sanctuary has exceeded my every expectation. After two difficult moves in less than 8 months, we've finally found a place that does it right! The facility is top notch and the caregivers have become and extension of our family. We are grateful to have landed at the Sanctuary.

We moved our mom into The Sanctuary after being at a different facility. It has been like night and day. The other facility used temporary staffing services And felt very institutional. The sanctuary feels like home. It feels warm and inviting. The staff truly treats our mother like family. They make wonderful meals for them on site. She no longer is eating bad cafeteria food. I can't say enough about how positive our experience has been with the Sanctuary. Our mother is no longer anxious and is very peaceful.

Loving, clean, caring. Exactly what the entire family needed in our last few days. In addition to individualized care, responsive and helpful with all the administrative details. Beautiful sunny rooms in a homey environment. But the best thing is the good humor and great attitudes of all of the staff. Thank you so much for taking care of our entire family.

I cannot begin to explain how amazing the Sanctuary is. Our experience was above and beyond in every regard. We had a horrible time with three previous facilities with the staffing ratios and overall uncleanliness/smell. I had honestly lost all hope for finding a home like environment for my dad with exceptional care. The Sanctuary goes above and beyond on every level, the staff was extremely caring and actually took the time to understand dementia as a disease separate from the person. The level of compassion and dignity was something that separated The Sanctuary from the other corporate facilities. I had so much peace knowing the staff was caring for my dad especially in the final days. I am forever grateful for finding such a unique place here in Charlotte. You can't go wrong with The Sanctuary; its exceptional.

The Sanctuary is a sanctuary for my wife who has dementia and had been in another facility. The Sanctuary is in a residential area and since it is a home, it feels like a home rather than an institution. My wife has told me that she likes it there on numerous occasions. I visit her every day and have a chance to observe how the staff interacts with my wife as well as all the other patients. The employees are compassionate and patient and because of the higher staffing levels have time to comfort the residents. It only took two days for the staff to realize that engaging with my wife calmed her down. In the ten weeks that she has been there, her anti-anxiety medicine as well as her anxiety has been significantly reduced. My confidence in the staff has reduced my anxiety as well. Comfort, care, and compassion are practiced at all times. The management staff is experienced and professional and always has time to keep me updated on my wife's condition.

My father has lived at The Sanctuary for two years. The environment reminds me of the home he lived in with my mother and this gives me comfort. The staff love my father and treat him with dignity and respect and provide for all of his needs in a compassionate manner. When I visit Dad, I feel welcomed and supported by the staff and other family members who have loved ones living at The Sanctuary. I have peace of mind knowing that my beloved father is in capable hands.

After touring just about everywhere and dealing with home health and then a terrible experience at a facility in the southpark area, we were blessed to find Sanctuary. I cannot say enough about these people. They care for our mother with such love and concern. I am in the healthcare field myself and had lost of hope of finding anywhere that would care for her in the capacity she deserves. Sanctuary has brought peace and calm back to our lives. We are forever grateful for them. Wonderful home, incredible staff and a beautiful life for our mom under their care. Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts!
