As a physical therapist who comes into Brookdale as a third party vendor, I am always pleased to see attentive staff assisting residents without delay and providing quality care at all times. The staff at Brookdale are always polite, friendly and approachable and I am impressed with how both floor and administrative staff go out of their way to accommodate resident needs.

We are so thankful we found Brookdale. The staff is caring, engaged with the residents, and knowledgeable about health issues. They ensure your loved one is included and comfortable. Staff and caregivers are always available to answer questions, listen to concerns, and you are treated like family.

Very friendly staff, although not enough of them.

Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge is at the top of the list for care, enrichment, and a safe space for anyone whose family member needs the specialized care for Alzheimer's. This facility has a small number of residents and a high number of caregivers, allowing for one-on-one interactions, focused care, and enrichment opportunities to maintain a healthy balance of client freedom. I am a volunteer who spends time speaking with the residents from morning to night. Each resident has a beautiful story that they may not be able to share due to this debilitating disease that takes their precious memories away. It is the caregivers who love and nurture these beautiful people when their families cannot be due to location. I challenge anyone to come and spend a few hours (not just 30 minutes to say you were there for a visit) with the residents to see that their care is outstanding, before passing judgment. I am appalled at the misleading review below about the condition of the facility. I volunteer because my mother-in-law was an Alzheimer's victim; now my future holds a loving father who is heading down the same road. I would not hesitate to have my loved one be a part of this community in the future. Thank you, Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge, for allowing me to give back, support a forgotten community, and nurture the minds of your residents, who may not work as they once did but still have something to offer.

Our mom has been at this facility for almost 2 years. As difficult as it is for families and residents, Brookdale has worked to make living with this situation as good as it can be. Have there been issues that we needed to address?Of course. No facility with this type of care is perfect but any time we have addressed a need the nursing staff and or director has responded and tried to correct or help. We have built good relationships with staff and after trying to care for our mom at home which was difficult, we have been very appreciative to all who help with our mom’s care.

In the most challenging season of a loved one’s life, the family searches relentlessly for a haven offering security and love with assistance and care. Brookdale offers all of these qualities and more. We all love the bright and inviting spaces of sitting and walking, the outside yet inside courtyard, the accessible floor plan and the everyday activities planned to encourage uses of senses and skills. The atmosphere is low key, friendly and inviting. Thank you, Brookdale!

BROOKDALE WALDEN RIDGE TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF MY MOTHER, EVEN WHEN I WASN'T AVAILABLE TO VISIT.
September 2023
I’m so pleased with the consistent and compassionate care that my mom is receiving at Brookdale at Walden Ridge. She lived at another local assisted/memory care facility before moving to Brookdale. The difference in care is remarkable. The staff at Brookdale truly make the difference; they are well trained, they are patient, they are caring and conscientious. It is such a hard decision to place your loved one in someone else’s care, but sometimes it is a necessity. Brookdale really does connect with their residents and put the residents’ interest first.

My 97 year old father has lived at Brookdale for a year now and we could not be more pleased with the care he receives. Neither my siblings or I live in state so it was difficult to leave him there and is even more difficult now given the pandemic and his condition. My sister and I traveled to Asheville to visit him recently and the care they are taking to keep their residents safe from the virus and yet allow family members limited access is incredible. The staff encourages us to call frequently to give us updates and when I call whoever answers the phone knows who Dad is and what he is doing at that time. They send pictures to us, show him pictures we send, and help us Skype with Dad. He is deaf and wears a cochlear implant which the staff has learned to care for and maintain. The entire staff pitches in to get the job done and I recommend the facility without reservation.

My sister and I went to visit Brookdale at Walden Ridge for our Mom who has dementia and recently fired her caregiver. Dee, the executive director, and Geri, the marketing director took nearly two hours of their time to discuss the situation with us, and made a lot of helpful recommendations in terms of getting Mom the care she needs. We had no appointment but they were so kind, patient and helpful. One of the things I've learned is to look at the residents. They were calm, clean and well cared for. If Mom didn't want to be closer to her grandsons in the central part of the state, Brookdale would be a great option for her.

My father is a very senior resident at Brookdale of Walden Ridge. When I say senior, I mean he is old, and he has also been there a long time. Longer than any other resident there. Also, he has lived at this place twice. He lived there before it was owned by Brookdale, spending a year there when it was called Clare Bridge. The place was a bit chaotic at that time, and my father was the highest functioning person there. We moved him to another facility for the next five years, until his care level exceeded their capacity to serve him well. Seeking his next level of care, I returned to (Clare Bridge, now known as) Brookdale. The new director, Dee Brooks, took me under her wing and assured me that he would be in good hands. I believed her, and moved Dad in again. He has been there for these last three years. The place is stellar. The Caregiver Associates are caring, kind, capable, and compassionate. There are people employed who were there during my father's first round. And they still care. All the employees work as a team, from the Associates and Med Techs to the Chefs, Activities, Accounting and the Marketing chief. Each person is involved at the ground level, with the residents. The little things matter at this facility. They offer hot essential-oil-scented washcloths before each meal. They take time to sit and visit with their residents, asking questions and learning about the stories of these people. Many a time, I have seen a Caregiver Associate who did not know I was present, take time or offer a solution with a resident who would have tried my patience. The big things matter, too. They have noticed when my father was less than robust and adapted his program to fit his needs. Now, as my father comes to the end of his time on this earth, they have noticed his special needs and called in Hospice. All this may seem like it is being done the way it ought to be done. And, that, dear readers, is the point.
