Place smells of urine when you walk thru the door. I wouldn't let my dog sleep there. Very small double rooms where one patient sleeps N-S and the other E-W. A thin sleet separates them. It's nothing but a parking space for people who had to leave the hospital and had nowhere to go. Some patients have been there over a year. It was recommended by a social worker at Mercy and why I'LL NEVER KNOW. I spent three hours their and had my husband pick me up and take me home.

Dad really likes it, here. Unfortunately, Aetna didn't like his progress (I'm _not_ blaming the staff) and decided they aren't going to cover his stay, here. The staff is friendly and professional. Madde really went above and beyond (compared to my experiences at other skilled nursing facilities) in helping us. I will miss my daily visits, here. UPDATE: My father is now a permanent resident, here. Another example of how the staff go above and beyond is when I rented a wheelchair accessible van to get both of my parents to their youngest granddaughter's wedding. The night before, I discovered that the door with the automatic ramp would not close. The morning of the wedding, I discovered a way to jerry-rig the door shut, but that meant having to use the driver-side sliding door to get Dad in and out. Not only does it not have a ramp, but it doesn't open as wide. After a few futile attempts to get Dad into the van, the staff transferred him to a transport chair, and helped me to tilt the chair back to put the front wheels into the van, then lift up the back wheels and moved him into the van. I locked the chair into place, and had plenty of help at the wedding to move him out of the van. Thank you, Delmar Gardens Creve Coeur staff!! UPDATE: Another example of DGCC staff going above and beyond. DGCC had arranged medical transport to get Dad to a medical appt. The company UHC uses for this area is unreliable, at best. Sure enough, Dad's return ride kept getting pushed back, pushed back, pushed back to the point where Dad would get his return trip over four hours after his original return time. Desperate (Dad is diabetic, I was concerned about blood sugar), I called DGCC. The van driver had already left for the day, but agreed to turn around, get the van, and pick Dad up. I think the driver's name is Darius. Darius rescued Dad, when he didn't have to. I am so grateful for both Darius and DGCC.

My loved one lived in this nursing home. I will say there a few staff there actually love their job and treat residents well. Yet they get burned out quickly. This place used to be great yet they changed management and this place is going down hill. The main problem is poor communication with their staff. I would tell one thing to a supervisor but the communication won't get down to the staff. There are some supervisors there who are rude to their staff which makes for poor morale. Then there are people who are there only to get a paycheck and they could care less about the residents. The staff told lies on my loved one. I would report to upper management but nothing was every done. They do not have enough staff to properly care for the residents. My loved one would sit in urine for hours. My loved one were scared to asked to be changed because the workers were rude or wouldn't come. If you go there for physical therapy they treat you like royalty because I believe that is where they make the most money. When you are resident that treat you awful. They are only concerned with making money since this place is chain they are only concerned with keeping up their brand. Only send your loved one there is you live in town and you can visit frequently. Then they will take care of their loved one.

My mom spent the last two years of her life there. The staff was helpful navigating the Medicaid process, very caring and supportive, and so thoughtful! It's not the fanciest place, but they took good care of her, and it worked beautifully for her needs.

So Who's the Dummy Now?

A family member was recently there for a short duration stay of 3 weeks for PT, OT and ST. The staff was very nice, and he was well attended to in spite of his severe handicap which renders him unable to walk or stand up. The food was good, and the staff tries very hard to make events to look forward to, like serving wine or cocktails, or popcorn or candy and movie nights, etc. Another good thing is that all the rooms are on the first floor, and all have windows that open to let in the fresh air if the patient desires. The decor in the rooms is a little dated, so I took a star off for that. Otherwise, I think this place is pretty good.

My mom has been living at Delmar Gardens of Creve Coeur for almost a year now and I am so thankful. Their staff is attentive, great at communicating and helpful. I do not know what my family or mom would do without this facility.

My father has been a resident of Delmar Creve Coeur for several years. Although he still has decent mobility he has other medical issues which were difficult to manage without 24 hour assistance. This year has been difficult with COVID but I felt that we were updated with his care meetings and even had help from the staff with face timing. He was happy with the activities that were available prior to the virus and even had opportunities to go to the ball game prior to COVID. Having personally worked in various medical facilities over the past 20 years, I have been very pleased overall with Delmar and feel that he is well cared by all the staff and administration
