I recently visited this assisted living and memory care community and was very impressed. The building was clean, welcoming, and had a warm atmosphere. The staff seemed friendly and attentive, and the residents looked well cared for and engaged. You can tell there is a strong sense of compassion and community here. Definitely a place I would feel comfortable recommending to others.

Gracewood is located in a quiet neighborhood, accepts Medicaid, and is pet-friendly! My family member's apartment is a beautiful corner unit with a large south-facing window, a large west-facing window, a bedroom area, living room area, a private bathroom and two closets. A shower and a jetted, handicap-accessible tub are available to all residents. Director, nursing staff and all assistants have been very personable. A physician is available through Gracewood, and visits residents every other week. My family member's first month at Gracewood has been very pleasant. Gracewood was an excellent find!

My experience is with the admission process and first few weeks of residence of a dear friend. I could not have asked for a more patient and understanding rep, Sara, to walk me through the paperwork-heavy process. Always available by phone or text, all questions were answered promptly, allowing a fast and efficient admission. A spacious and bright room was available for my friend, and their care regimen was evident from the start. Staff performs an in-person check on my friend every two hours day and night, she can ask aides for personal needs 24/7, she has dining options between two dining rooms or her own room, cable tv, wireless internet...all included. Aides generally had a good command of English; food varied between quite good and rather average. Some lovely amenities like a bright dining room; a beautiful and restful sun room; clean, wide hallways, and it is a very quiet facility. At this point, we feel like we made a very good decision.

The corporation that owns Gracewood and MANY other homes, suddenly fired senior manager Lisa Fasching with whom I had worked with a long time. She was originally hired as a more senior manager but her responsibilities were changed. The senior manager’s capabilities are extremely important to a well run operation. She was truly OUTSTANDING. Susan died of cancer. Before she died, no one communicated to the kitchen her diet, as specified by her doctors. I was there in person organizing her room a few days here there, and found no one was bringing her down to eat with the others in the dining room, no one was bringing her the soft food she needed ( not able to chew according to her doctors). She had not eaten in days. She was the last room end of the hall. She could not speak, was only whimpering. No one came to give her a shower despite my requests. They only gave her her meds. Staff ignored her. She was supposed to get hospice care. That never happened. I was still in St. Paul. Instead the morning of her death they sent an ambulance who took her to the worst hospital in downtown St Paul. That night she died in the hospital completely alone - - I had left for Florida where I live, the night before. Nurses were always seen in their office, I noticed the many days I was there. ( an entire month). I had to beg one aide to bring her food one night after I found no one had fed her for a week with the required soft food she could swallow (on doctors orders). IF you bring a loved one here make sure you visit 2X a week or more for the first 2 months.

My relative has been at Gracewood Advanced Assisted Living for several weeks now, and our experience has been very positive. From the very beginning, the staff was incredibly flexible and helpful during the move-in process, which made a stressful time so much easier. The facility itself is pleasant, clean, and well-maintained, creating a warm and welcoming environment. One thing that really stands out is the leadership”particularly the director”who has consistently been approachable, responsive, and willing to work with us to meet any needs or concerns we've had. I also appreciate the structure of Gracewood. With smaller care teams and a more intimate setting, the staff gets to know each resident personally, which makes a big difference in the level of care and comfort provided. It's reassuring to know my loved one is in a place that feels more like a community than an institution. Gracewood has been a wonderful choice for our family, and I’m grateful for the attentive, personalized care they provide every day.

Gracewood Highland Park is an Amazing place. The Admin Sara and her head Nurse Joy are just wonderful. The rest of the staff is compassionate caring, and treats people like they would treat their own loved ones. They also do a nice job doing the care approach as the team effort and make sure to also follow up questions if there is a question. I will say my mother in law came from a place that she was abused and neglected and this place Gracewood gives 500%. They have a phone number you call them and they answer or if the nurse is busy call you right back. They have a great patio, they have flowers, plants , water fountains and Sara has done an extremely great job making it look like a home. If there is something wrong or a concern Sara goes above and beyond with in her power to make it right. Same for Joy and her team. It is a smaller building but I think it really feels like a home. I give this place a (A).

There are no words.. Transitioning my brother into this facility, especially, long distance from Texas, was extremely smoothI no longer have sleepless nights over concerns for his care..When asked by a SS representative, How are you going to take care of your brother from Texas, a call came in, at that moment from the facility, to give me an update. I looked at her and said , this is how I take care of him. Between the echo in his room that I can see and talk to him daily AND, periodic updates from the nursing staff, I have no problem. I think that sealed the deal when SS elected to appoint me Representative Payee, to take care of his rent. All family members who have spoken to my brother says the same, he looks happy and content vs the continued agitation that he was experiencing at the previous facility. Can’t wait to visit him in person, in the upcoming months ..

We are very excited to be at Gracewood. We of course had a few hiccups the first weekend which totally expected. The way the staff, specifically Sara, stepped in, was in constant contact with me and trained the staff on my husbands specific needs and reassured me and my husband that they will take great care of him, and they are. Every single staff member I have met is so kind and so so good to my husband! They always walk in with huge smiles on their faces. My husband comments on how nice they are regularly! I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for assisted/memory care facilities.

I help a lovely 60-year-old woman who was a 30 year much loved nurses aid, zero family zero support system. As a former marketing, planning employee for 20 years 1970’s 1980’s in NYC, I love to thoroughly research everything. So I threw myself in hours of studying Senior Linkage online recommended sites, corporate reviews, etc. Reading as many different review sites is crucial, nothing like actual family experience! My lady would get lost in a 50-150 person senior home. She benefits greatly from staff that genuinely love their job and are openly warm and caring. Gracewood, according to a U of Mn hospital nurse who worked there for years, is very well organized and run. She said the nursing care is excellent and very attentive to the residents. I narrowed my search to Gracewood in Mendota Heights and this Gracewood in St Paul because of the excellent staff. Ultimately St Paul was best because the resident size was smaller and the physical layout was cozier for her. Lesa Fasching who works at both facilities was my top staff favorite for her thoroughness, excellent insight, experience and genuine understanding of senior’s personalities and needs as they age. She is also SUPER organized and super fast in getting things done!

Our family looked at multiple facilities to place mom in for her Alzheimer's condition. There were many with waiting lists and many of the facilities were very expensive. The staff at Gracewood worked with us over the phone, via emails and in person to make their facility a wonderful match for mom. It is not too big and the location was fantastic for many family members to visit. The staff at Gracewood made mom very comfortable and we never sensed that she was afraid or confused. The staff never hesitated to interact with mom and keep her active. They were also very welcoming and accommodating to our family when we would visit. Gracewood was always clean and the staff very personable.

My husband was a resident in the memory care area of Gracewood Highland. I did research online before moving him there. I also did a tour. I liked the fact that Gracewood is a small enough community that residents and staff can get to know each other well so that they become like a family. My husband's room was a good size for him, large enough to accommodate everything he needed. The staff who work in long term care facilities make or break the experience for the residents. I was so impressed with the house manager. She treated my husband and his unique needs with genuine concern and respect. The nurse was attentive to his medical history and plan. My heart was touched by the extraordinary kindness shown by so many of the caregivers. I also want to note that my husband's stay was during the COVID pandemic and Gracewood had no infections among staff or residents--and that shows a high quality of care.

Gracewood really cares about their residents and work with you on difficult situations. With dementia and Alzheimer's they are dealing with the brunt of it and it takes a lot of care especially in the late stages. I would get annoyed that my dad's glasses would go missing, but considering how much he has taken they are doing well! I think expectations need to be fair. Yes it is expensive, but compared to other places it is in line. It really has a homey feel and doesn't feel like a nursing home from the 70's at all.
