My mother lived at Brookdale Portage for just over two years until her recent passing. Brookdale was a perfect fit for her, offering her activities that kept her active, busy and happy, and a cozy welcoming home. This was not my mother's first assisted living community and I know they are not all similar. Unlike before, we soon learned that Brookdale is all about care and respect, dignity and kindness. During the lockdown, the staff stepped it up to make sure residents could stay in touch with family via Zoom as well as continue activities and social events. At the point when my mother required more assistance, I watched the gentle and efficient care from the staff increase as well. My mother loved living in the Brookdale community and we all truly appreciate each of the hardworking and staff, knowing she was definitely in the best possible community.

My Grandmother was in need of Memory care this year. I reached out to several places in the Kalamazoo County area. Yvette at Brookdale Memory Care was so kind and helpful. I was able to navigate the process very easily and I immediately saw that Brookdale was a great fit for my Grandmother. The staff has all been there for years, they truly love their jobs and it shows. During Covid times, there have been no in person visits, so we have been able to video call as much as we want to with her. The visiting physician is kind, caring, and meets all of the medical needs on site. We receive updates on how my Grandmother is doing, how she has made some really good friends, and that she is thriving in the care of Brookdale professionals. Finding the right place for a loved one is not easy, I would definitely recommend Brookdale to you. You can trust them to care for your family members like you would want them to be taken care of.

We toured this commmunity and we wanted a community that would be able to assist more with her care. The community is clean and we felt that this community was too small for what we needed. They do offer a good menu and activiites that are helpful to the residents.

This is a nice community and the staff I met were nice. They have an enclosed walking path and they seem to offer some nice activities. This community would not accept our loved one as they were not able to care for someone with their stage of Dementia.

The food is good, healthy and they have a set menu. I have good communication with the staff and they are very accommodating. There are always activities going on and the staff remind mom when they are. The cost is a little high but this is a good fit for mom. I would recommend this community.
