I was employed by independence village of waterstone for 4 years and absolutely loved it, the residents, the staff, the management is all incredible. December of 2022 we decided to move my grandpa into Independence Village and couldn’t have been more happy, We lost my grandpa suddenly in February and the staff was so so wonderful to us, The executive director Angela treated us with such grace and empathy and i could not be more grateful for the love we were shown in such a difficult time, They all even attended his funeral and wrapped our family in such love, The beautiful parties and activities i was able to attend with my grandpa are memories i will be grateful for forever, Including the valentine’s day party which was the last party he was able to go to, below i attached a photo. 🙂

I have come and went from this facility delivering packages for residents, and I am impressed by how they are treated as family not just tenants, they are always talking around a fireplace or knitting a blanket but the best part is the smiles and laughter I hear in that place. Just the place I want to be in my retirement years.

I will try to keep this brief. If you are looking for assisted living for you or a family member - this is the place. My brother lives here and is so very well cared for. Every single staff member at Ind Village and the Laurus Home Care team goes above and beyond. They always go out of there way to aid, assist or accommodate my brother. In addition the facilities are always clean and very well tended. I honestly wish I could move there myself or lived close enough to volunteer. This place is a treasure!

I moved my Mom and Dad into Independence Village back in January of 2019. My Mom was having all kinds of health issues and falling all the time the staff at Independence Village was always there to help and would contact me to let me know what was going on. It brought me so much peace of mind to know that the staff ate Independence Village was there to support all my parents needs.My mom passed away in October 2019 and my Dad has remained there on his own. The support he has received since my Moms passing has been tremendous. My Dad has made so many friends not only among the community but also with the staff workers. My Dad is not lonely and thriving because he has this community to lean on. He plays cards with several different groups of people, participates in happy hour, and so pleased with the food at the facility. My dad so loves living in the place that he looks forward to each day as he is not lonely.Because my Dad loves this place so much, I recently moved in my In-Laws who needed extra help due to health issues. They are settling in nicely as well. truly feel Independence Village is a place that has welcomed my family and is helping to give them a reason to get up each day with something to look forward to.Sincerelyusan Neff

First walking into Independence Village, I was welcomed be the receptionist with a huge smile on her face. Arikka, the community specialist, gave me a tour of the facility. She was absolutely incredible. Such a kind demeanor and really made me feel at ease. It was the best visit senior home visit Ive had yet. The staff was fantastic! The Executive Director, the Wellness Director, all of the staff in between, and the residents as well, were all so welcoming and kind. It was so refreshing to see all of the smiling faces! Especially on the residents!! With the hard times weve all been facing with COVID-19, it was so nice to see! I would 100% recommend Independence Village to anyone looking for a safe, friendly, and lovely place to send their loved ones!!!

My mother has lived in Independence Village for just about three years. This was a difficult decision for her and for me to make. Changing ones residence, especially at this stage of her life can be challenging. She chose Independence Village because of its close location to me. The first few weeks were challenging because her life was changing. Then she joined into the activities she was interested in. She looked forward to eating in the dining room with her new friends. The staff was gracious and she found the high school servers so much fun. Friendly and cordial they all got along and still do today. The staff has been wonderful to her. Everyone has a cheery hello when they meet in the hallway. Even with Covid and the restrictions put in place, people stayed friendly and concerned. She does not drive anymore and she finds the bus a great convenience. Even the NOTA bus is very accessible. As a daughter of a resident, I am often concerned about her safety and health. The staff has never discounted my concerns and have taken them seriously. It is important for me to have a good relationship with the staff and they are eager to help me help her. I hope this review helps someone making a decision to feel more comfortable.

For four years my mother called Independence Village her home. The staff was like family. She appreciated the many services she received and enjoyed community games, programs and events. We are thankful for all the staff.

Working at Independence Village has been a wonderful experience. The staff, from caregivers to housekeeping are great to work with. Management are uplifting and encouraging. The residents are friendly and full of laughter.

When it came time to consider moving my Mom to a senior living facility it was very emotional for us. We made our appointment at Independence village. I had such knots in my stomach knowing this was the next stage. When we walked in everyone was so friendly and happy! My Mom was beaming! By the end of the tour my Mom considered it a dream to live there. We were all so happy that our experience was so great! It has now been four years and she still feels the same way! Everyone knows her name!!! The friendliness is real! The dinners are a lovely dinning experience. I could go on and on. My advice...make the appointment you will leave knowing it was the right decision.

I want to edit my prior review.I did not realize that I did not click the stars and therefore, a 1 star has been listed here. I did not intend that and I want to clarify my previous review below.It has been an emotionally challenging journey as my sister and I strive to secure the safest, highest quality, and genuine, compassionate personal care for our mother. When a loved one does not possess the mental clarity they once held and the personality changes place a stranger before you, its excruciating. We find ourselves constantly evaluating moms circumstances and trying to find ways to increase opportunities for joy for our mother. Aside from the concern noted below regarding the food prior to the original review, we have found Independence Village WaterStone of Oxford to be a very caring, safe and high quality facility. The staff know everyone by name, they greet them with smiles, conversation, and willingness to provide assistance in any way. The personality changes that have accompanied the mental decline in our mother make her very challenging to please, to calm, and to keep entertained. However, the entire staff work tirelessly to achieve those desires. Believe me when I say...I have visited almost every facility within 15-20 miles. IVWS in Oxford is one of the BEST. And Im happy to say that the food has improved immensely with the addition of the new chef. This was a great relief to us because we did not desire to make the move but nutrition had to be a priority for us. We recently signed a new lease and enlisted additional services for our mother.Prior post:I am excited to read the letter of 12, 01, 2018 from Independence Village of Oxford. The announcement of a new executive chef and the Sensible Sodium Program bring me great hope. Upon moving my loved one to this facility a few years ago, the food was delicious, warm and quickly served. About a year ago, that all changed. The food became bland, cold and the time between ordering and receiving the meal became very slow. I have been researching other communities and was about to begin planning a move. Hearing about these changes has encouraged me to wait a bit to see if the quality of the dining room reverts to its previously high standard of quality. To encourage this population to eat, the food must be served at appropriate temperatures and be flavorful. Optimistically anticipating positive changes!

My Mother moved in to Independence Village 4 years ago. after comparing several senior facilities Independence Village was her number 1 choice of where she wanted to live. Its light and clean and most of all very friendly. The staff all work to give a very positive experience. When they have Brunch the 3rd Sunday of each month it is one of the best I have ever been to. The Holiday family party is over the top. I cant say enough nice things about Independence Village. I would highly recommend IV as a wonderful place to live.

Independent village is a great place to work with a loving and caring team. My family and daughter was in a bad car accident on May 31, 2019 the caregivers and the whole staff came together to support me during this time because of independent village I was able to care for my daughter during her time in a wheelchair. I have never work at a place that is just as supportive of staff as they are of the resident. I appreciate all they have done for me and my family. The care they give to the resident are just as outstanding. Thank you independent village of waterstone for all that you do for the residents and the the team everyday. I would recommend this place to everyone and my family.

Our family has had a very positive experience here. Everyone is caring and compassionate. The community is bright and beautiful. There are ample services available, both for current, as well as, anticipated future needs. They also have a full calendar of activities, many of which we have participated in and enjoyed. And there is a great sense of community here among the residents, who look out for one another. We have been very pleased.

We have a family that is resident for the past 2 1, 2 years.... and counting. The entire staff members are always attentive and SUPER FRIENDLY to everyone they encounter. The staff is always coming up with new events and destinations for the residents to choose from. We are very happy having our loved one within their care.
