I am a fairly new resident here but have some input about city view. Because of location and past concerns my family did not want me to live here. Having surgery recently my daughter stayed here for 2 weeks. Her impression turned 180%. She found friendly, helpful, thoughtful, concerned members and safety top notch. Although she thought I would be bored found that the vast majority of activities more than kept me busy. Weekly trips to stores, we hit them all up, restaurants, a large variety with the members suggestions. Plus I work in the store. Not only do I but my family as well would recommend City View to anyone looking for affordable housing.

I have been a resident of City View in the Square for two years. There are many things to do at City View. We are within walking distance of the Farmers Market where you can get fresh produce. On Fridays we have a Walmart Shuttle bus which is complimentary so we can do some shopping. The city bus stops right in front of our door on regular basis every day of the week. City View also owns a van which will take us to other stores and sometimes restaurants throughout each month. We have on-site service coordinators who help us with paperwork, and facilitate other types of assistance. There are important safety features at City View. One is that all apartments have fire sprinklers. Sprinklers are prevalent around the building and well maintained. Another safety feature is secured entry to the building. You must have a key fob, as a member, or be admitted by a member in order to enter the building. We have many activities at City View. We are a co-operative which means there are opportunities for volunteers to help with tasks in the building. We also have dinners, cook outs, bingo on friday nights and birthday celebrations . live on the 14th floor and have a great view of the west side of Kalamazoo. It is especially beautiful in the Fall when the leaves change colors and at night when the lights are blinking. This is a wonderful place to live and to call home.

Ive lived at City View for 5 years, and I can honestly claim that conditions are constantly improving. Self-government as well the ability to volunteer and thrive in a diverse community, make this a special place to live and thrive.

I came here to live 3 1, 2 yrs ago upon the death of my mother. I was thrilled at the idea that I would be allowed to participate in running the building. I now run the little store we have on the first floor. I am a member of Congress. I was a floor representative a few years ago, Vice President for a year and this year I am President. This is a good place to live full of nice folks. I was drawn to the people here and to the idea of being part of helping to make it a lovely place to live. Our community has been impacted by Covid-19 but we try to stay friendly through the masks and the distance.
