I WOULD LIKE TO TELL EVERYONE THE BROOK AT HOUGHTON LAKE DESERVES 10 STARS. IT IS VERY CLEAN, EXPERTLY MANANGED BY AYME WHO'S CALMNESS AND COMPASSION ARE SHARED BY EVERYONE WHO WORKS THERE. IT ALL TOGETHER MADE THE 2 MONTHS MY WIFE LIVED THERE BEFORE HER PASSING COMFORTABLE AND HEAVEN ON EARTH. COULD NOT HAVE FOUND A BETTER PLACE. GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILTY TO ANYONE SEEKING ASSISTED LIVING, FRIENDSHIP, AND QUALITY OF LIFE.

I would highly recommend the Brook of Houghton Lake for either independent or assisted living for a loved one. My Mom lived resided at the Brook for over two years before her passing. I enjoyed meeting with her almost daily and developing relationships with residents and staff. The Manager Pam, is incredible and has a compassion to serve each residents needs. Five stars for sure.

This is a wonderful place and I would highly recommend you have your parents or grandparents come live at The Brook of Houghton Lake They have a beautiful facility with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I have never seen a staff try so hard to be respectful, kind and accommodating to everyone.

The facilities and the staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake are top notch. The caring & compassionate team there are making a very difficult time in our lives as easy as it possibly can be. It is a great comfort to know that our loved one is in a safe & comfortable environment.

It's been 2 months since my aunt, Erma Stevens passed away. While she was living there she was well cared for by your staff in a most professional way. They checked on her every day including when she was in hospice. Pam, the director, does an amazing job and puts in time beyond her normal hours scheduled to work. The negative comments sent by her godchild, were certainly not correct. she only visited twice, and then when she passed, she couldn't even be bothered to attend the service in Houghton Lake, nor at the graveside. I want to thank Pam and her staff for all they did to help my aunt during her stay it was truly appreciated. John Lohrstorfer

I want to share a letter that I received from a former employee of The Houghton Lake Brook which brings great pride and kudos to the current staff and myself as manager. Dear Brook Team Mates - The last 5 months have really been tough and a lot has been expected of all of us. I cant think of a better bunch to have shared this time with. I have enjoyed working with each of you. I have seen only respect, caring and love for our residents. Pam (manager) asked at our meeting if we were a team and I thought about it and I think more now than ever we are. I wanted to thank Pam Wilcox and all the staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake for their exceptional care of their residents during this past year. I wanted to congratulate everyone at The Brook for staying COVID free this year! It has been challenging for staff and residents and their family and friends but their conscientiousness has paid off. Residents and staff have been able to get their first vaccinations and soon will get their second shots. I have witnessed the compassion the residents have received from staff doing extra for the residents during this pandemic and am very impressed by them all.

I feel fortunate to have this great facility with such positive staff in our community. I appreciate their patience and especially the respect they show to every resident. Ive been employed with the Brook for a year and a half. I love my job there and the residents. Everytime I work it feels like Im going to see a building full of grandparents. Even during these difficult days its a blessing to work for such a compassionate place that only has the residents care as top priority.

I have worked at The Brook of Houghton Lake for 4+ years, and am a current employee. I can say by far, this is a great company to work for. The facility is beautiful and well taken care of, both inside and out. The residents are absolutely amazing, the staff is great, we have a great team working there, and the management is top notch. We are all an extended family that are there to make sure our residents get the care they deserve, and the support they need, especially during these trying times with Covid. I love working for this company, and look forward to many more years with them.

I have been a proud employee for The Brook of Houghton Lake for the past 11 years. The staff is loving and caring and goes above and beyond, the building is clean and beautiful. Our corporate office has done an amazing job during the pandemic to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff. I hope to be apart of this family for many more years.

Disgusted Starting at this Facility I thought wow I have the best job until working there for over 6 months I was very disgusted who i was working for. We were always understaffed and asked nurmerous times at staff meetings please give us another worker for midnight because if a fire or other emergency happened how am I one person supposed to get 40 residents out of the facility assisted and independent by myself and they still refused,I felt like I was just told to pick and choose who I get out pretty much. With the medication our RN is very lazy on reordering their medication until the last minute so she made us find a another resident with the same medication and the same dose and take one of theirs until the others arrived and then just replace it. The rounds of checking on residents hourly is not met a lot of them would be ignored and soaked when I came in for my shift because previous shift would be lazy to the ones that needed more assistance than others. Pay is very minimal for christmas i spoke to quite a few of the independant residents that donated more than 3000.00 for us workers and only the ones that worked there the longest got couple hundred the rest went to the company. I am very disappointed that there is a company like this still running and taking advantage of people who dont have a voice for themselves. Please do not let your loved ones stay here.
