I can't say enough kind things about the staff at American House! They are kind, caring, compassionate, love to have fun with the residents, and seem to truly enjoy their jobs. I love all the little "extras" they do for the residents, too - trick-or-treating, an Oscar party, hiking club. It's fantastic. It's a tremendous comfort knowing our dad is in a place where he is very well cared for. Thank you, American House, for everything!

The staff at American House has been so wonderful to my family. They take great care of our loved one, communicate with us via text and email (because we prefer it,) do a great job of coordinating and communicating with medical/occupational therapy staff coming in and out, and they advocate for their needs. Te'a has gone above and beyond multiple times, most recently suggesting and arranging grief counseling -- she didn't have to, but she went out of her way to think about our loved one's difficulties and potential solutions, then with our blessing set it up at no cost through Hospice. This is just one small example of the care we are pleased with from American House Holland, there have been many. The kindness of Lori and the other ladies and gentlemen there does not go unnoticed!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about American House in Holland! From the moment we toured, we knew this was the right place for my parents. The staff, especially Alix, truly go above and beyond ” they are kind, attentive, and treat residents like family. My parents feel safe, comfortable, and most importantly, happy. The community is always clean, the meals are great, and there’s such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s such a relief knowing they’re surrounded by caring people and have so many opportunities to socialize and stay active. I’m incredibly grateful for the peace of mind American House has given our whole family. Highly recommend!

This was not a very pleasant experience for our family. We had to move our mom to their care facility. They lost her teeth! They lost her hearing aids TWICE! They lost her glasses for two weeks. A couple of her personal blankets and some clothing disappeared. Huge staffing turnover! The awesome staff from when she moved in left shortly after for better pay and less hours. With so much staffing turnover, many of the new hires were not properly trained and did not get to know the residents needs. So many procedures are not followed.

I am sitting, with the sun streaming in the living room windows and thinking what could be better than this. I've decorated my room with the furniture from my condo that I loved for so long. I remember purchasing my sofa years ago because it made me smile. It still does. Lunch was delicious, the server has become a great, great friend. My table mates and I chat and share lots of laughs. We're a noisy group. I know laughter is the best medicine and I get plenty of it with all my new friends. I could be busy all day if I wanted playing cards, bingo, listening to live music and more. But sometimes I just enjoy sitting on my patio enjoying the huge pine trees and watching the blue jays fly here and there. The staff members, I know personally, are hardworking and pleasant to everyone just like I was when I was in the workforce for many years. I am content, at peace and somewhat surprised that I enjoy my choice to live here. It was and is a good choice. Barb

What a great experience we had as we transitioned my mom into her new Independent Living apartment and community. From the start Jennifer was wonderful. She was very caring and understanding. My mom had a lot of anxiety about this transition and Jennifer truly listened and guided her calmly with care through the process. Now my mom has now settled in with her cat and telling me stories of all of the friends she has met and activities that she is doing. What a great community of friends and support!! Thank you again Jennifer, you are the perfect person for what you do at American House of Holland!

Holland American House has very poor customer service for families of residents. You call business department and you're stuck in a loop for 15 minutes or more. You want to speak with the billing dept, you're back in the same loop. When you finally do speak with a person you find billing person is out of office at the time. Leave a message, call back is at their convenience.You call back and said billing person is out again until 2.

I have my own complaints with this establishment. The office staff is worthless and non communicant. I'm STILL waiting for a refund of meds that came to them 3 months ago of 181.17. Nobody ever gets back to me. Also, lack of proper staffing, apathy of keeping residents motivated, entertained and wanting to do for themselves is not good. I saw lots just giving in and vegging in their rooms. Thank heavens I made it out alive. I could tell more. If you are looking for a place for your relative, do yourself a favor and go someplace else. The b.s. alone with billing isn't worth it!

My Mom was there for several months and the staff took great care of her. But, the business office is a different matter. I have tried numerous times to call and talk with them about a credit on my mom's account. They never answer their phone and they do not return my calls. For that reason, I cannot recommend them. ETA: Shortly after this review was posted, I did receive the $1000.00 refund, I have now changed the review from 1 star to 4.

Every building is always clean to perfection and they staff their buildings to be able to ensure that we can give the best care and spend that extra time just conversating with our people an extra hug something that could be such a minor detail to the average person but means the world to someone else.
