We have been researching senior citizen places for almost two years in preparation for moving ; first here in Oakland County for our sister-in-law adn then in the Grand Rapids area to be near one of our children's homes. We have lived in Lake Orion for the past 33 years. We needed to be closer to one of our own four children and our grandchildren. Well, we finally hit the "jack-pot" at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids. We hope to move there within a year. One of the main reasons we anticipate likeling is the quainity of social activities for both of us. It seems we liked the size of this place, it is larger than most while being able to offerextebsuve Independent Living with a list that goes on and on as well as attractive dining choices. We hope to be selected for the Garden Apartments with a two bedroom choice on the east wing.Ms. Sandra MacLeod was our host and seemed to sincerely invite us to return. Best regards, Mike and Carol

My parents loved Independent Living at Porter Hills. But, when they needed more care, there was no room in the Inn. You may have to wait a year for assisted living for a couple. We had to separate my parents, when my Mom needed more care, which caused them great distress after 70 years of marriage. When my Dad needed memory care, they could not care for him and we were given one month to find another facility. In retrospect, we should have moved both of them to another facility, where they could be together and they could have transitioned to memory care together. The staff tried but Porter Hills may not have the room when a resident needs to transition to more care.

I have now lived here in a townhouse for six months. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience at Porter Hills! It is a friendly welcoming community with lovely facilities and excellent maintenance services. I wish I had moved here sooner!

I play the piano and sing the oldies for them. They have 4 different venues with pianos, and they schedule me almost every month. The staff is very professional and kind!

Moved my father here for rehab and eventually skilled nursing care after a hospital incident. We were initially impressed by the reviews and helpful staff. After a few weeks we became very frustrated with the lack of communication or responses to emails/phone calls. I will say that the combination of being around the holidays and people being sick with Covid may have amplified the communication problems. PT gave a very abysmal prognosis of my father's ability to improve physically. It felt like our opinion about him being weakened primarily due to being bedridden in the hospital for a month was brushed aside immediately. Personal care seemed to be lacking, my father often smelled of urine when I came to visit. We also had strong concerns about how Covid policies were being handled. Since then, we have changed facilities, have had excellent communication, have seen great progress in physical therapy, and are glad that we made the move away from Porter Hills.

I currently work at Brio Living Services and is one of the best companies I have ever worked for. The company is extremely team members oriented and does its absolute best in hiring experienced employees to take care of the residents here despite the competitive job market and the world still recovering from the pandemic.

Caring and attentive staff 24/7. Beautiful setting with all type of wildlife. deer and bunnies wander the grounds adding to the peaceful environment. Literally seconds away from I96 making travel simple. Your loved one would love to call this place home.

We can never get a phone call through to my father in law. You get caught up in an endless phonetree and when someone does finally answer, they take a message with a promise to call back from his room which doesn't happen.

I have been very impressed by the Facility and the caring way in which each manager, nurse and staff member welcomed my Mother into Porter Hills Rehabilitation and helped her to settle in. The home has a cheerful atmosphere. Everyone I have met has been friendly and helpful and treated my mother with kindness and respect.

Not at all a good experience for my relative. Medication reaction went unnoticed for several days. Several phone calls and emails left for nursing. Finally got a doctor to call 3 days later. Being a RN myself, I was not at all impressed or comforted by the care my relative received

I love the team I work with. Wonderful CNAs, many working hard while going to school. Talented nurses and a Leadership Team intent on constant growth and team work. Team work makes the dream work!
