This has been an extraordinary week at Dirigo. I can't commend the staff and volunteers enough for their coordinated effort to put on the Carnival. It was a wonderful diversion from our daily lives and everyone I've talked to sang it's praises (in spite of the temp). It was a huge amount of work and thanks to all.....including you(Paul) and your balloon animals. Secondly, the volunteer appreciation event overwhelmed me. The statements of appreciation were heart-felt and Anne's personal, handwritten thank you notes reflected her genuine feelings (and hours of work). Lou's (Lew?) amazing culinary offerings were delicious and totally unexpected. Thanks to all who made these things happen. Sue Kircheis

My mom was a resident at Dirigo Pines for 10 years. She started out in independent living and later moved to assisted living. I am from out of state and have visited there almost every year. The staff is amazing and addressed mom by name. I just got back home after being there for a month as I came to visit and mom got sick and passed away. The nursing staff were amazing to her. She was on Kenduskeag at the end. Previously she had been on Penobscot. I can not say enough about all the amazing staff from every department.

My father has lived at Dirigo Pines over the past 6 years and his experience has nothing short of excellent. Dirigo Pines is truly a community, as the management, staff and residents look out for and care for one another very much . It all starts from the top and I can't say enough good things about Paul Arbour Executive Director and the environment that has been created there for everyone - Recommended highly!

I have had two elderly relatives at Dirigo Pines. There is a nice progression of care there from totally independent to specialized care. The current administration has done a great job of motivating the staff to be caring and attentive. My relative is in the specialized section where they all have a private, spacious and cheerful room. Nothing institutional about it. The food is fantastic...I wish I had Louis and his staff cooking for me! It is self-pay but they will do the paperwork for long-term care insurance. When I get to that point, I hope I can go there vs. the standard nursing home!

My family member had been living in independent living for 18 months and recently moved to the Arbor. The staff at Dirigo Pines helped us along every step of the way getting her moved and has done everything possible to make the move easier for her. Theyre quick to contact us if there is an issue and open to questions from us or offering guidance on how to navigate the seemingly constant changes in our family member. I couldnt imagine not having this amazing support from such an outstanding team of staff. Thank you!

I have lived here for over 4 years. We recently had a large turnover in management which was needed, and all the staff, both remaining long timers and new, are professional, caring, devoted to quality service, and reflect that in their daily interaction with the residents both in the Inn and in the adjacent cottages. The front office where the public is welcomed, is cheerful, competent, and extremely forthcoming. The food is excellent, and varied, and available throughout the day. The actual apartments have full kitchens, and are very spacious.The campus itself is gorgeous, the cottages are full size homes, the grounds forested with two large ponds and walking areas, including a deep forest path kept up by cottagers. In particular, the campus is within walking distance of the town of Orono, the University of Maine campus a few minutes drive, and the bustling city of Bangor, with its international airport, 3 miles away via highway. Theres also a full course golf club within walking distance. This place has it all! I anticipate living here till the end of my life, and are comforted with the knowledge that there are assisted living and memory care facilities should I find myself in need of them.

Today I was stopped in the hallway by a family member to share her appreciation to the entire team. Her mother just moved to a higher level of care. She told me that she appreciated everyones efforts to make her mom through the transition. Our culture of excellence of care and resident centeredness care assured this daughter that her mother is in the right place. She said her mother was doing very well because of the Dirigo Pines team.

I have had the pleasure to meet and interact with the staff of Dirigo Pines in the past few years. In my view it is a great community that is far above most of the local communities. Many of the resident I have interacted with are very happy to be living at Dirigo Pines, Saying what a great job the management team and staff have done in the time of Covid.

My kids were so happy that I was able to receive both Covid vaccine shots in a timely manner. Kudos to the staff at Dirigo Pines for making it happen. It was so well organized and we are now feeling safer--one of the many advantages to living here.

My wife and I just completed our COVID-19 vaccinations last week. The events were arranged through the Dirigo Pines administration and CVS. It was well advertised in advance for the day and then subsequently when various groups would be scheduled during that day. Everything worked perfectly for all our residents. The CVS people were patient and well prepared, and the friendly Dirigo Pines staff was everywhere, being helpful from parking to a cookie afterward. At the last moment I had to change my scheduled time and that was done seamlessly. All the residents that I spoke with were very grateful and relieved to have this important step behind them.

My grandmother recently moved into Dirigo Pines. She loves it. When she arrived her room was very clean and looked great. The lady who helped her move in was very kind and patient. She made the transition seamless. The food has been fantastic. The chef has has done wonders with her dietary needs. She enjoys seeing her new friends and the staff daily. I highly recommend Dirigo Pines.

Dirigo Pines is wonderful place to work and live. My journey at Dirigo Pines started five years ago as a construction supervisor remodeling Dirigo Pines I instantly fell in love with the place. COVID 19 has been trying times for all. Rest assumed Dirigo Pines has the residents best interests always.

I have worked at Dirigo Pines for 10 years! It is a great facility to work at! The staffing is above most facilities and the managment is always looking for new ways to appreciate their staff! From free employee meals to specific appreciations from direct supervisors and above. It truly is a great place to work and I feel lucky to be apart of this special community.

We thought my mom was ready for a community lifestyle but she felt it was not for her. I would recommend them for their services. The community is beautifully maintained and the food is good. The people working there were wonderful, accommodating, and understanding.

My mother was there for about a year and a half. An RN was always sitting at the nurses' station and the room all went off that area so they had a good bird's eye view of things. The problem with that place was that my mother wasn't quite at the point with her dementia that the other patients were. I think she felt out of place and for it hard, socially, to relate to some of the people so she stayed in her room and isolated herself. She didn't have her own bathroom and that was not to her liking. With all the ice and snow I though it would be good to find something closer to me.
