I want to extend my heart-felt thanks to the staff at the Genesis River Ridge Neurorehabilitation Center in Kennebunk Maine. My wife was admitted there in April of 2025 - only 4 months after experiencing a devastating brain injury. She had a great many physical, occupational, cognitive, and emotional challenges to overcome. The care team at River Ridge welcomed her with warmth and open arms. During her 12 month stay, she got competent and responsive nursing and medical care which supported and complemented the solid, flexible, and creative physical, occupational, and speech language therapies. Rounding this care, were the creative and compassionate contributions from the activities and nutrition teams who went out of their way keep her spirits up with a warm and personal touch. Today, she is by no means cured, but her level of functionality in all areas is greatly improved. They say that the first 12 months or so after a brain injury are when most recovery takes place. I believe those months were well optimized by being at River Ridge resulting in a better quality of life. Thank you River Ridge!

Rosette is a therapy dog and we are privilege to visit with all the patients that would like to see us. The facility is clean, even the corners! Some rooms are cluttered because of necessary and favorite things that the guest have but you can see they have pride in their small pieces of real estate. Lots of activities and lots of smiles. The staff is always busy but take time to stop talk and be happy. As a team we really like visiting and Rosette loves all the petting and attention.

We are very pleased with the level of care, concern and attentiveness we saw today! Our Dad is a very important man and it means the world to know he’s in good hands! What a relief it provided. Monica who is one of the care takers providing excellent quality of care, she is also very knowledgeable and genuine! Caring staff. Everyone I've met at RiverRidge Center is so kind and patient with my family member. The complete staff including all therapists treat patients with respect and a sense of humor. I would recommend this center to anyone needing a rehab facility .

My mom just got there 5 days ago and so far the experience isn’t great. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone, a few of the RNs are SO RUDE, and they barely check up on my mom. I am not able to be there to make sure they are doing what they’re supposed to. I have been trying to get them to shower my mom and they haven’t nor have they even bothered to change her bedding. There are a few RNs and CNAs who are really great but they are super short staffed and even tho it is hard there is no excuse for any kind of neglect, this is their jobs. RNs should be on the floor helping as well. I am very disappointed.

We do not have enough words to express our gratitude to Rivverridge on how they supported my son recovery. The compassionate care and service they provide for their patients and clients is high quality and heartfelt. We have meet very experienced , well trained on TBI and wonderful people from management leadership, medical team including ot/pt/speech, nurse station , the kitchen worker, cleaning, activity group. I praise the work done by Tara, Natasha and their team, Alla and her team , Dr Rob and team, Kerrin and her team, Jessica and her team , Dan and his team, Melissa and her team , Hali , Kelsie your are so special and your team! I do understand your mission for caring patients with TBI is challenging sometimes but your results is visible! The only reason this got two stars instead of one was the nursing and therapy staff. The staff on hand with the patients were wonderful and caring, my mother felt safe and cared for. This place is an absolute atrocity from an administrative perspective. They use disinformation to try to intimidate funds from families while not communicating properly (or at all). I cannot express the hours and aggravation this has caused me from the numerous calls, messages and emails of information/referrals that were sent only to find out that it did not happen. The only way I got things done was when I mentioned reporting these issues and withholding funds.

Joey seems to be doing well. His room is badly in need of a paint job and I was surprised to see a tub in the bathroom. I trust you have a separate shower room. I had the pleasure of being at the facility with my mother in her final days on earth. They were kind, compassionate, caring about not only my mother’s needs but the needs of my sister, myself. Death is never easy, emotions can get the best of us all. Emotions got high, it was handled smoothly, with much conversations. I thank all of the employees, staff, hospice workers that assisted in helping my mother transition into death as peacefully as she could. Tina, Ann Marie, Bryan, Kim, a few of the names I remember. I can’t thank you for showing the care you did for my mother. Your job doesn’t go unseen, I thank you All.

I came to River Ridge Center to visit my mother in law , Linda, I observed that she was made to be comfortable and taken care of. Although she was recovering from a bad fall her spirits were high bubbly. Her roommate Gladys also was a hoot. We were assisted by a staff member (Allan) who was cheerful and very pleasant. The facility was well kept and clean. Five Stars!

My wife spent 14 months at RiverRidge during hard Covid times. The entire staff from top to bottom was always professional, very caring, supportive, helpful with anything, and showed this care and compassion with all the residents! The staff and residents became friends and family. I , the husband, was there 3-5 days a week and saw alot firsthand. My wife and I have no complaints and would give them a 5 star rating! I can't say enough positive things about all the people that work there! We are forever grateful for everything they have done for us, especially my wife! We will miss them but we will visit from time to time as we are forever grateful! Thank you all at Riverridge for everything! All our love, Chris and Julianne Boucher

For patients with any kind of brain trauma, River Ridge is the place to be. My son has come so much further than the neurologists in Boston thought he would. But he is awake, eating solid food, talking, singing, playing games, following directions and so much more. He has been at River Ridge for two and a half years and still has more to do in his rehab. The staff treat him like family, the other patients are like family. Your loved one will definitely benefit if they need to come to River Ridge Center.

I'd like to thank the staff for taking such excellent care of my husband while he's been there these past few weeks healing up a diabetic ulcer. He's coming home Monday with his foot intact thank God . He was given physical therapy and kept busy . The diet there though not what he's used to eating on his own has controlled his blood sugar and I'm really thankful for that as well. Hopefully he won't ever have to do another stay in a rehabilitation center but if he does I'd want him there .

My husband had a massive stroke Thanksgiving 2010. By early 2011 he was ready to move from acute care to residential rehab. Even though we live in a different area of Maine, we decided to put him into RiverRidge. The rehab sessions were high-quality. Patients were encouraged to get out and about in their wheelchairs. Socialization was encouraged. The actual layout was friendly, with the nurses station in the middle of patient traffic. Because we lived far away, my husband needed to be placed for a short time in a facility closer to home in order to do home visits and finalize discharge. What a difference! In the nearby facility, patients were expected to stay in their rooms (even for meals) unless they had a scheduled rehab session. The overall vibe of this place was, frankly, just mean. With one exception, the rehab sessions were perfunctory and distracted. This was not a caring place. After the bad experience in the local facility, we were even more grateful that we had put my husband into RiverRidge, giving him the best possible foundation. The tradeoff of being able to visit fewer times per week versus excellence of care was definitely worth it. I hope RiverRidge is as good today as it was back in 2011.
