I have been to numerous senior living places to visit parents of friends ...family members etc . But I had the opportunity to visit and spend lots of time with my old employer at EDENWALD.... I cannot begin to commend the people I have come across working here... Everyone of the staff at EDENWALD .. starting at the front desk .. to every place that has an employee working has been so so polite ... If I had parents that needed a place to move in to... No doubt this will be the place... ... Prompt... Courteous !! Employees at EDENWALD..... Thanks to all of them for the marvelous job they do ..... Nurse Renee was exceptionally helpful today... Which prompted me to acknowledge the staffs here and let the owner of this place know that He/she is blessed with wonderful employees....

My experience yesterday. Was really beautiful. To see that Miss Feldman is been taken care of the way that I used to take care of her. I used to clean for her for 15 years .And the building is so beautiful. Glad to know that she could get it out and do things and meet other people. Went to the cafe for lunch and the food was marvelous. Thank you guys so much for everything that you're doing for her. And I will be back. Please take care of my mom. She's a handful

We looked at several properties before my mom chose Edenwald. It was December 2020 when she moved in, and we felt very safe with her there in the independent living building. The front desk staff are wonderful, and so patient with guests and residents alike (even when people are being rude to them). The housekeeping and dining staff are friendly and patient, and the maintenance crew are always helpful when she needs something, whether it's hanging curtains, or taking out her Christmas tree. The activities are varied and great for people of all interests and activity levels, and they have their own tv channel with at home exercises even those with mobility issues can do. Very pleased they're adding a PT facility this year. My mom feels safe, and happy, has made lots of friends, and her physical health has actually improved due to the reduced stress of living in a 3-story house by herself. ***** Just stopping by to say, as we celebrate her 3 years at Edenwald anniversary next month, she's still happy and so are we. The pandemic has challenged everyone, but the staff remain superlative, and in the meantime the community is building a new program with Goucher College to bring residents and students together though not only programming, but also housing. Related: refreshed common area is welcoming and has games as well as space and power to work on a computer. The Medicare certification has been completed, and the PT facility has opened. Edenwald is a model for progressive retirement communities, IMO.

An amazing place to work, with extremely friendly staff and residents. If I could give this senior living home a rating, it deserves more than 5 stars. Want to know if a senior living home is for you? Look at the attitudes their employees are. Happy employees means happy residents. And ask any random employee how long they been here if you visit. You would be surprised how many have been here 10/20/30 years. If I had to choose a CCRC when I become of age, Edenwald would be my only choice.

Thank you, Edenwald, for taking such good care of our mother for over 20 years. Mom moved into her apartment at the age of 81 based on the recommendations of several friends who lived there. As an active woman she enjoyed life at Edenwald immensely: meals and programs, exercise classes and volunteer opportunities, flowers to admire and card games to play, friendly people and caring staff. She thrived in her new life. As the years passed, she was gradually able to do less, but she remained pleased to be at Edenwald and often told us how nice the people were who cared for her. Recently she passed on at the age of 103. We children are so glad she chose Edenwald because of the joy Mom had in living there and the independence it gave her in managing her needs. We miss visiting Mom, walking down the hall with her and saying hello to everyone. We miss talking with staff and other residents, some of whom we've known for more than 20 years. Thank you for all you do.

I'm not so sure how friendly the residents And staff really are... I'm dressed professionally straight from work. Not familiar with the area, I parked in their external parking lot, outside of the gate, to go give blood in the adjacent office building. The security guard yelled at me "hey you can't park there." I shouted back from across the street where can I park? He shrugged his shoulders and yelled back I don't know. That's private property. I quickly realized additional words would be lost on him. He's not much of a security guard if he doesn't know the surroundings, I think he just didn't care. On my way back. I told him that I will gladly move but he could have been a lot nicer. On my way back to my car there were a couple of ladies talking presumably a resident and an employee per monogrammed shirt. I'm guessing the resident went and called for the security guard to sick me. She could have courteously told me that it was private parking lot. Watch out for the security guard, and busybody residents. I can give them the benefit of doubt that they may have issues with mall patrons or maybe the nearby hotel but there were plenty of open spaces, again I parked outside their gate. None of that excuses their rude behavior. Definable not very neighborly. The phlebotomist (God bless her) that took care of me today grounded me a little and said the security guard didn't know where I was going so he couldn't make an informed suggestion but, he still could have handled our encounter better. I've cooled off since I first wrote this review and decided to raise my rating from 1-star to 3-stars because things could be worse here and perhaps they are not and I don't want my emotions to cloud my judgment. For example on the bright side, site security could be less secure (ie people are paying attention to their surroundings) and attitudes could be worse somewhere else in the world. He could have just let me go and then call for a tow truck. So I guess it wasn't that bad of an experience. It's a little sad that little ole Towson is so tough.

Joan McMahon: Most people don't do their homework. They don't even know what questions to ask. Below is a detailed list of how we got to Edenwald. We chose Edenwald after researching CCRC's for 5 years. We had a matrix of our wants and needs and rated them on our visits. We learned what questions to ask. We visited about 12 CCRC's, then narrowed them down to the top 3 and then went back for 5 more visits to each one. We spent the night (highly recommended), visited apartments of the residents, ate the food, went to their concerts/programs, and swam in the pools. With each visit or open house we learned another new piece of information. Edenwald became the perfect fit for us. This is not a decision to be made likely. And we made the decision ourselves so that our children did not choose for us. It was a daunting task, emptying a house we loved after 38 years. So much stuff! But Edenwald provided a move manager who came to the house and helped with the downsizing. We also used their moving and packing service. Our emotions and physical fortitude weren't up to doing it ourselves. Our children have professional lives and couldn't help either. When we visited each CCRC, we asked the residents what they regretted about moving there. Most replied that they waited too late. And wished they had moved in 10 years earlier. So we did. I moved in at 70 and my husband at 74. We have the vitality and the enthusiasm to enjoy all they have to offer. And to contribute our honed skills to benefit other residents, who mirror our friends from our old neighborhood. Our friends have said they "aren't ready. Next year, they are not getting younger. After 70, your ability to deal with this kind of change wanes. I didn't think I would like a high rise. I was wrong. During our overnight stay, I discovered how easy it is to get around. How much more active we are. How everything is so much easier!!! Easier lifestyle: Bus transportation to shopping and grocery stores with items delivered to your door, maintenance personnel to help with any house hold repairs, cleaning service in our apartment, medical personnel onsite, so many venues and styles to choose for dining, a bank and ATM, a small convenience store. You can be as sociable as you want. So many new friends! No isolation. And a financial package that was very doable for us. We still like to travel, and the discount on our monthly fee paid for our trips. If I'm gone for a long weekend, my husband has many invitations for dinner. And our kids were surprised that we can still have our holiday dinners in our apartment. Our health care fees are included in our monthly fee. We don't have adequate long term care insurance. Most people say they have it but when they analyze what they do have, they realize it won't last and won't cover much. We can visit each other in the same building if either of us moves to another level of care. I won't be in one facility and my husband in another. What I nightmare! Our children are especially happy we have moved in. Could you image spending your life going between two different facilities to take care of Mom and Dad? They know we are cared for so they don't have to worry or interrupt their work/lives. And they won't have to empty our apartment when we die. Such a relief to them.
