This rehab facility is the best ever. Everyone is on board as to let you know every detail pertaining to your loved one. After trying other rehab centers, we were directed to Lorien. This rehab facility was the best decision we ever made! They did more for my husband in two weeks then a month anywhere else. This facility is always very clean, bed linens are always changed, The Nurses, Aids and staff go out of their way to make sure everything is to perfection. The rooms have plenty of space, movie theater, and a pub with an outside deck that your loved ones can enjoy a meal with you. best rehab team to help your loved one to get their independence quickly. If I could I would give them 10 stars!!!!

Lorien Taneytown is the 5th rehab I've had in the last 6-7 years. It's the only one I would ever consider living permanently in. Everything was the best a disabled senior could hope for. The facility was great. The food delicious. The therapy was wonderful. And last, the staff. Unfortunately I can't say they were good, or great. Truth is, they were "amazing". Very friendly, helpful, warm, and attentive. I really wish there was more than 5 stars I could give. Again, to everyone there. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for effort you gave to make my stay wonderful.

My parents went to Lorien assisted living in January 2021. They choose Lorien Taneytown as they were from the area. The apartment is very nice with a separate bedroom and large walk in closet, small kitchenette, separate bathroom set up for safety and a nice size living room.The staff are excellent from the cleaning, assistants, nurses, maintenance, management, dining, activities and front desk. Everyone is always friendly and helpful, I will get a call if anything of concern comes up. Dad has passed and it’s just Mom now who is very happy and content they chose Lorien when that time came. I’ve always been able to find the right person when I had questions who were knowledgeable and explained so I could understand. The apartment is kept very clean, the food choices and quality are very good. At times Mom can be a challenge to deal with, the staff are patient and professional which is a blessing to the family at these times. They have updates meetings giving their perspective and we can discuss any we might have every six months in person or by a group phone time with the assistant manager, RN charge nurse and activities director , as well as in between if needed. I was so pleased they choose Lorien and appreciate everyone. I highly recommend Lorien for anyone’s family in need of assisted living. Michael Thompson Hanover Pa

I'm a new resident starting my second month in the Assisted Living. When you have to made a life altering decision & uproot your world you should concider Lorien Taneytown. The experience I have found to be overwhelming, with their kindness & caring this has been a wonderful move in my golden years. Even though I've shed many tear over the months. They have assisted in getting my husband to the facility to be with me. Thank God for all the help of my 2 caring neices/spouses, brother & lorien employees that have made this journey possible. I find Lorien Taneytown to be a caring, family-friendly community. Everyone from management, nurses and aides, dining personnel, maintenance, front desk, and the pub, have been friendly and supportive. Verna is amazing bringing so many wonderful and varied fun activities for residents and guests to participate in and they invite all the residents to enjoy the comraderie of being a community. The medical team has been accommodating. It's a nicely decorated, clean place and they strive to meet the various needs of everyone. It has been a perfect fit for my mom in her retirement years when she needs extra help in daily life. Check it out for your loved one 🙂

Lorien is a wonderful place. My mom and dad were there and couldn’t have received better care and attention. Each day was filled with activities, thanks to Verna. Bingo being my mom’s favorite. The nurses showed heartfelt attention and were very supportive and professional. Even the front desk staff folks became special friends to my parents. During Covid, when my mom passed, I could not go inside because of health issues and Verna was there for me, holding my mom’s hand in my absence. I highly recommend Lorien Taneytown for the retirement years when we need a little extra help in life.

My mother was in the sub acute rehabilitation twice. Each time the staff were friendly and compassionate as well as knowledgeable and professional. I can’t say enough about the nursing director and the social worker. They are dedicated people who support families and patients. This is a difficult journey to take but the staff here are so empathetic and wise. My mom is now in the assisted living there and I have the same thing to say about them. So professional, kind and caring. Even though my mother was VERY resistant they have patiently and lovingly worked with her. The residents are also very helpful and friendly. I am editing this to add that the facility is meticulously clean!!! The housekeeping staff should be highly commended. The floors are gleaming and the bathrooms in both the sub acute section and the assisted living are kept spotless. Kudos to activities staff too! They are very patient and have successfully urged my reluctant mom to come out of her shell. There us no reason to stay in your apartment alone. Everyday there are at least 5 activities happening. If you are looking for a clean, friendly and professional place for your mom or dad, you need to check out Lorien in Taneytown.

Lorien assistant living is a place like home. They offer a variety of room plans and activities for residents. Lorien staff work to make all residents feel welcome and taken care of. They encourage participation for meals and activities and ask for input to make everyone happy. Verna goes above her job description to make everyone happy and are taken care of like they are her family. My family can't say enough good things about Lorien.

The staff is wonderful to her (and us!), there are bountiful activities that bring the community together, and excellent nursing. Mom is very happy here, looking forward to her 91st birthday.

I moved into the Lorien in Taneytown just over a year ago. I can't get over how great the staff is here. So friendly and helpful every department and every shift is ready to do what ever I need help with. I brought my dog with me and she has managed to win over everyone who "walks" thru the door. She & I enjoy the activities especially the music, where she is able to get pets and love from many of the residents who attend. I fell in love with the courtyard garden on my first visit it reminds me of the beautiful gardens that I visited in my travels.

My Mom is a Resident here, after a few falls in her home. She is very Happy here and the people who care for her are very nice. So far Mom has liked them all. Mom says she sleeps well now, which was a problem at home. Thank you Candace, Verna and the Caretakers who keep my Mom Happy. She deserves to be worryfree. My dad who was affectionally known as "Pop" was a resident at Lorien Taneytown and I cannot speak highly enough about the care he received. I had always heard good things about Lorien from people I know who had family there. I saw first hand the compassion, care, warmth and genuine concern from every member of the staff. This allowed me to sleep at night knowing my dad was in good hands. My dad passed away at Lorien in July of this year and the comfort and guidance they provided during that process was exceptional. I would not hesitate to go there myself if the need would ever arise. Again a heart felt thank you to all the staff at Lorien.

Lorien Taneytown's staff made not only my dad's life much better and fuller, they also gave my family the peace of mind that he was loved and cared for. "Doc Rosie", as they called him, loved his 3 years there. Especially "Verna" who always let him pick his afternoon drives by the farms of Carroll County so he could tell stories of his time of being a veterinarian in the area. (Sorry he wandered off at Walmart, Verna!) The most fun was the day you all did the "Rubber Ducky Slip & Slide"! How you figured out how to get a bunch of 90 year-olds on a plastic duck was beyond me! Dad laughed the entire way down! Lorien Taneytown felt like home and the employees treated our Dad like family. This phase of life is very difficult to maneuver for all, especially during COVID. You do wonderful things. We were very blessed to have had Dad at a place like Lorien where the staff really care. Thank you to everyone at Lorien who cared for "Doc Rosie" PS: Sorry he had his TV volume on "MAX" for 3 years! Love, Bonnie (Doc's daughter)

My father was a resident of Taneytown Lorien for 5 years. He was 94 years old when it was obvious to everyone in the family but him that he could no longer take care of himself at home. His issues were physical; mentally, he was still very sharp. Needless to say, he did not go through the doors of Lorien because he wanted to; he went with the attitude that it was going to be a short stay. But the patience the employees showed him from day one was phenomenal. They assessed his needs (and truthfully there were many) but they recognized what could be done to meet those needs. And this was a communal effort from the Activities Director, Nursing Staff, Administration, Maintenance, Food Service, PT, etc., etc., etc.. My father passed away after spending five years at Taneytown/Lorien. I can honestly say that Lorien became his home and he was happy/content there. It is a wonderful facility, but it’s the people inside that really makes it a very special place. They treated him with respect, love and a sincere effort to meet his individual needs.

My mom was in Lorien from 2017 through 2023. She became a different person when she got there. She wasn’t depressed, she was happier, she was joining in with people doing things. Even with a brain injury that she lived with for 14 years. Due to that she couldn’t read, had trouble with words, but the people up there, all of them were great with her and helped her. She went in For physical therapy from a broken arm. After she was there two weeks, she decided she needed to stay. Her decision. I’m so glad we found Lorien Taneytown she was happy there her last six years. The first year she was there she had her 90th Birthday it was like she was getting younger instead of getting older. Everyone there was great and she was able to stay in the assisted-living side.

My mother was a resident of Lorien in Taneytown from January 2018 until November 2021. She had multiple health issues including heart failure and dementia. Originally she lived in their Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), then after 18 months of excellent, compassionate care, her condition improved. She was able to move to Lorien’s Assisted Living section (AL) and have her own studio apartment. Mom was aware that she needed more attention than I could give her, and said if she couldn’t be with me, she was glad she was at Lorien. In the evenings when I spoke with her, she’d say Thank you for finding this place for me. FYI, while my mom was in Assisted Living, we paid for the highest level of care, meaning someone went to her room every two hours to see to her needs. I thought this would be the best for her, due to her dementia. The frequent checks were good for Mom and for our peace of mind too. During her entire stay, she was treated with kindness and respect. The nurses, the aides, staff in housekeeping, the dining room, maintenance, staff at the reception desk, and the administrative staff were so warm and friendly, they all made her stay a very pleasant one. Mom enjoyed her mealtimes and often talked about how good the food was. Activities were varied. A selection of games or crafts were offered to residents, sometimes there were visiting musicians, sometimes they’d take a bus trip locally. Lorien also has a little movie theater. A resident may request a movie to be shown and even schedule the theater for a special (possibly family) event. Communication with staff was not a problem. Any time I had a question or concern, I was able to speak with one of the staff immediately. I was also updated regularly on any change to Mom’s condition or needs. All communications were handled promptly and with sensitivity. Mom was at Lorien during the pandemic, and she passed away there from complications due to Covid. During that very difficult time, I was able to see firsthand just how hardworking and dedicated the entire staff at Lorien were. I send love and gratitude to the Lorien angels who took care of Mom until she passed away. If this review is long, it's because I had many so reasons to recommend this place.

My mother resided at Lorien in Taneytown for a little over 2 years. I visited her everyday. In that time I got to know the administrator,, nurses and caregivers, cleaning personnel and the food staff, pretty well. I have never met a group of more dedicated people. My mother required a lot of care due to her limited mobility. They went out of their way to go the extra mile for her. The Covid lockdown was a huge challenge and they met the difficulties head on. Verna Toms, Lorien's life enrichment coordinator, suggested an electronic digital pad that even my mother with no computer knowledge could navigate, so she could stay in contact with family members. This gave her so much joy. I believe Lorien of Taneytown is above average in assisted living care.

My Dad was first in nursing care for about 6 weeks.Therapists are excellent. Nursing staff & aides knew each patient’s specific needs & several went above & beyond to make sure my Dad received the care he needed.He then moved to assisted living for the last 7 months of his life.All staff,housekeeping,aides,nurses,food service, activities director knew his needs, his likes & dislikes and they served him well.Lorien is clean and friendly.My only complaint was inconsistency with agency nursing, especially on weekends.I understand steps have been taken to rectify that situation.

Lorien Taneytown is a wonderful assisted living community. Stacy was extremely helpful, compassionate and reassuring from day 1 when I called to inquire about assisted living for my father. She came out with Debbie for an assessment and my dad hit it off with both of them immediately. We knew it would be a great fit. My dad moved in and was impressed by the staff, the food and the amenities. The facility itself is new and very clean. From the second you walk through the door the women (and cute dog!) at the front desk are always so warm and helpful. This is much more than just an assisted living facility, it’s a community that really cares for one another. We have been to several other facilities that are nowhere near the quality of Lorien. Verna took the time to really get to know my dad and find activities that may interest him. He can be a tough nut to crack but Verna is extremely patient, genuine and kind. I could tell she really cared about him and she loves what she does at Lorien with all the residents. She made sure to stop by the skilled nursing side before my dad went home so she could catch up before he left. That really meant a lot to him. Debbie, one of the RNs at Lorien, worked with us on my fathers wound care and overall medical needs for several months. She always kept me in the loop with how he was doing and would call me to talk through his care plan. She was also extremely kind, knowledgeable, patient and my dad loved their conversations. She really looked out for him. As I mentioned, Stacy was the first director I spoke with from Lorien. She was responsive, sincere and helped us navigate what felt like an extremely daunting process before we met with her. She made it easy while providing all of the necessary information to make an educated decision. My dad spent a lot of time at a few other skilled nursing facilities, but never assisted living. She spent the time to talk to my dad about their community and answer any and all questions which put him at ease. Stacy went above and beyond and I can’t thank her enough. She would quickly respond to my emails, calls and genuinely cared about what was best for my dad over the 4 months that he was part of the Lorien family. I usually don’t need frequent contact but when my father’s health declined, she was there to help us through those tough decisions. The facility prior to Lorien was not trustworthy, reliable and certainly did not have our best interest at heart. Stacy was a breath of fresh air because we knew we could trust her and the staff at Lorien. There are many more staff members that were wonderful to my dad and my family while we were there. If you take away anything from this review it should be that Lorien is a top-notch community for your loved one. I can’t thank them enough.

My mother has been here for 2 1/2 months now (first admitted for short term rehab and then long-term care). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this facility. After her being at a few other facilities, she is finally being cared for by warm and loving people. We can ALWAYS reach a real person by phone (a kind and cheerful exchange always with the front desk) and emails/ phone calls are returned. Psych NP takes a proactive approach with meds / follows up with staff and contacts us weekly to discuss any changes. Nursing supervisors can quickly get any questions or needs addressed. Love the activity director and especially appreciate that there are always activities going on (even if my mom is on the sidelines) even on weekends. Extra drinks and snacks between meals are offered by room service for those who are in their rooms.The facility is clean and well kept. FinalIy I sleep at night knowing my mom is in good hands and eyes are on her.

My mom’s journey began about a year ago when she was admitted to a local hospital with delirium associated with an UTI. A week later she was discharged with a Dementia diagnosis. She moved in with us as she was recovering and within 2 mos needed a transfer to an assisted living facility . Several months later she was transferred to a local formerly well established rehab facility in Sykesville after a fall. I can’t call it care, as it was a nightmare from day 1. She lost most of her ability to dress, toilet and eat. The facility was so poorly ran we saw administration change twice in the 3 months we were there. There we only a handful of staff members that were caring, engaged and had mom’s best interest in mind. She was often sitting in soiled clothes for long periods of time and there was frequently fecal matter on her bed linens. There was poor communication from directing staff and multiple calls were needed for our health and safety concerns to be addressed. She left that facility after a fall that broke her hip, we did not find out about the fall until a day later. We were told by family member's of residents that she laid on the floor screaming and crying in pain for help for 20 minutes. The good news after her hip repair and stay at Lifebridge, she was admitted to Lorien Taneytown. Our experience here has been truly remarkable and 180 degrees different. All levels of staff from directors to aides are highly engaged and have a vested interest my mom’s health journey. They all know my mom by name. As I write this review, I’m sure many reading this have had similar journeys and nightmares navigating the elder care system. As a profession, I work within the healthcare community and was appalled by this experience prior to Lorien Taneytown. Here, they work closely with providers and family. They are addressing all aspect of physical, social and mental health. Many have become like friends and they have created a community of healthcare workers and residents that care about and for each other. Getting her into this care facility was truly a Godsend and I can not recommend the facility more highly!

Fabulous care facility !!! My mother is there for the 3rd time in over 2 years. I would not, could not, send her any place else. All levels of Staff are friendly and caring. You can order your own meals if you don't like what they are serving that day. Nurses and Techs are very attentive. I don't mean to say everyone is perfect. People forget, get distracted, and are just plain busy at times. But, they are knowledgeable or they go find someone who can help you.
