My advice is keep your parent at home as long as you can and hire in home help. Sunrise make ms promises they don’t keep. Some of the staff are amazing angels! I went almost every day to visit my mom and dad. My dad was separated into memory care. They kept him clean and well cared for. The PROBLEM with memory care is no interaction with the people. I’ve seen them be ignored, several times. My dad’s complaint was no one talks to me. Heartbreaking, when my dad passed I sobbed with relief he didn’t have to live in a sad place anymore. My mom fell in her room and I don’t know how many hours until morning I got a call. She was by herself and lethargic. I immediately called 911. She never made it back to sunrise. Sunrise isn’t bad it’s just not great. Management makes promises with smiles and kindness they just DONT follow through.

they were the only AL/MC in Maryland with four Caring.com stars in a row I wanted to see why. The CEO told me we’re not perfect but when we have a problem, we address it . while we were there my wife had to go to the bathroom twice. The first time the CEO took her the second time the director of sales took her: MY CONCLUSION: Believe the stars!

Really felt that Sunrise Independent Living was like home. Thats why I came back for a second tour. However , I found that certain Kitchen Employees were hanging out with certain residences ( 2 ) more then they should have. Got the impression they felt they too were residence. Other residents did not get to share this comraderie. Aside from that I still have a fond feeling for Sunrise and most staff.

Clean place inside and out. Good food management. Good activities. Many kind people, that work hard. In-house doctors are wonderful! Outside grounds kept up very well. You MUST be an advocate for your loved one. You must visit often to confirm loved one is getting the care they need and are paying for. If paying extra for care giver or medicine distribution then be sure its being provided as agreed.

I have been coming to Sunrise for a couple of years now. The caregivers at Sunrise are patient, nice and knowledgeable. Dee is one of the caregivers that is exceptionally good. She loves her patients.and it shows.

Both of my parents have lived at Sunrise now going on 14 years. My mother passed in 2013 but my Father still lives there. I have grown to know all the staff and have very positive things to say about them all. I am impressed with the longevity of the managing staff and think this speaks to the quality of the team. On the Assisted living Side I am also continually pleased to see a Family-like atmosphere that they strive to achieve everyday, whether it be with music concerts, games, movies, arts and crafts (thank you Kimberly!) or special events. Sunrise is well established in the community and also is within walking distance of Woods Church, the Severna Park Public Library and Woods Community Center (they have both a regular and therapy pool open to the public). Of course family needs to be always engaged when a loved one needs assisted care and naturally things will come up: my questions and concerns over the years have always been addressed promptly by both nursing and management. Many thanks to all at Sunrise!

Facility is very nice and clean. Overall care and management of residents is good. My family and myself are satisfied with the care. Lax on occasion when emptying resident's trash or laundering personal clothing items.

Hello, Sunrise of Severna Park, MD has provided care for my parents for three years plus now. My father (90) and mother (88) currently live together in an apartment and receive assisted living care. The facility is clean and welcoming. From the start we encountered caring individuals who have helped us with our questions and offered compassion to our family. Caring for your elderly parents is a challenging task, ever changing and can be very stressful. The staff has always been very helpful through each stage. It takes special people to work in this type of facility and I am thankful they are taking care of my parents. Andrew Pierce

Moved Mom to Sunrise in July, 2020 in midst of COVID from central PA. Fast forward to 2024 and she is happier, healthier, has new friends, participates in activities...to name a few. She is 10 minutes from me so I know the staff well and the care for Mom makes them family now too. Shout out to concierges, housekeeping, maintenance, social for lunch bunch and Navy music, and I could go on...they know her by first name and I know their names. Thank you, Andrew ’™

My Mother-in-law recently passed away and had been a resident of the Severna Park (MD) Sunrise facility for many years. She was originally living in the Independent Living Facility a couple of years after her husband died and loved it, as she got older and her health care needs increased, we moved her to the Assisted Living side. The care, compassion and concern exhibited by the entire staff was nothing short of phenomenal; she was there for a long time and truly considered it "home". So much so in fact, that when she was recently hospitalized for the last time --- all she wanted to do was "go home". The entire staff, starting with the director Ilona and her management staff to include Cherise, Patty, and so many others all the way down to the cooking, cleaning and custodial staff were simply incredible. Our family could not have been more comfortable knowing that she was in exceptional hands. They truly treated her like family and made her feel like part of their family. We even had staff attend her funeral Mass, that's how personal the care is at Sunrise. If you ever have a loved one that needs to move to an Independent or Assisted Care Facility, we HIGHLY recommended the Severna Park Sunrise.

Sunrise has been a fresh start for my 96 year old mother. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They encourage and include the newcomers from before they move in! Lovely environment and active, in the center of town! Thanks Faye, Kim, Beth, Cherise, the smiling concierge personnel and all the staff for coming around my mom to make her feel at home!

They have been so wonderful and supportive to my parents and our family. Sunrise has a wonderful staff of caregivers which are also like family to us. I enjoy visiting here. The type of care depends on the level of health of the resident. My mom recently just passed away and we have had so much outreach and love from Sunrise to us and my father who is still here. There is also a house dog named Luke. He’s so sweet.

Our Mom lived at Sunrise for a year and a half, initially in assisted living and later in memory care. She made lots of friends during her time there and absolutely loved the staff, who took great care of her. The feel of the place was less like an assisted living center and more like a college dorm or sorority house as they were often engaged in activities to keep their minds fresh. We also appreciate how forthright the executive staff was with us, helping us to qualify Mom for a subsidy while never overselling it. We'll miss the beautiful grounds and garden, and especially Luke (dog) and the cat that wandered around the place which gave it even more of a homey feel.

The staff was pleasant but not skilled health care employees. They are not trained properly nor self motivated to provide skin care and wound prevention to bed ridden patients. My father was actively passing on hospice and it took over 2 hrs for Sunrises Director of Nursing ( on 2 seperate occations in a 8 hr period) to respond and place orders so my father could pass in comfort and peacefully. In addition, he had an enormous heel wound and skin breakdown on his bottom because they failed to turn and reposition him regularly or offload his heels when on his back. It took 4 family requests, 3 physician requests,and 3 hospice request (over 4 weeks) to get his protein shakes entered by the staff (they would not give him shakes without the order). We were promised when my father was moved here from PA that they were trained and capable of caring for my father. This was, by far, not the not the case, despite bringing in equipment and supplies to make the staffs jobs easier. My brother and I had to both visit at different times of the day, daily, to ensure my father was properly cared for and fed.

Sunrise Reminiscence cared for my wife for 18 months until her passing from dementia and a heart attack. I visited nearly every day and got to know the concierge, management, and caregivers well. They were compassionate, caring, competent, and maximized the dignity of the residents. The common area and garden were large and pleasant. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. There were no bad smells in the facility. The residents were kept clean. The food was excellent. I have only gratitude to the staff for taking such good care of my wife.

My MIL lived at Sunrise for nine years: eight in Independent Living and one more in Assisted Living. We could not be more grateful for the excellent care she received the entire time she was there. The staff took a personal interest in her and were so attentive and loving. What underscored how great they were was when she had to go to a rehab facility after a serious illness in the hospital. The comparison of that place to Sunrise couldn't have been more stark. She was so happy to get back home to Sunrise. Her last days were very difficult, and the staff was so wonderful through it all, even after she passed; tears and hugs all around. I would highly recommend this beautiful facility, either side of the building, to anyone who is interested in giving their family member a new home away from home. Whatever their needs. Worth every penny.

Only had sister at Sunrise for 3 months in memory care. Seemed OK. Never allowed to visit because of virus but could take out of facility later. She liked the food. The workers seemed nice and friendly. Management was polite and quick to respond to your calls. Moving because too expensive.

My mother was a resident at Sunrise for 18 months. She developed many friendships with the compassionate staff and was well cared for during her stay. She was comfortable sharing stories of her family and appreciated the time the staff made to engage her in conversation. This proved to be invaluable during the pandemic and her inability to leave the premises to visit family. We appreciate the Sunrise staff.

Beautiful community. A bit pricey but seems worth the extra $ if your loved one wants a social environment. Rooms are very nice and staff was very friendly. It is one of our top contenders for my mom. Especially loved being greeted by the in-house dog at the main entrance. Felt like home.

Sunrise is a wonderful place for seniors with Dementia/Alzheimers. The staff is competent and attentive to the residents. My mother has lived in several senior living facilities and this is by far the best. She likes living there.
