Just received a comprehensive tour of Brightview Fallsgrove and was so impressed with the cleanliness, thoughtful design and peaceful environment. Rating for a good friend: Nice looking place. Pleasant staff. Mediocre institutional food. Staff do laundry but won't iron. Light cleaning (mold already growing in the shower). Some surprising lack of services, like very restricted hours for dining, and the postal mailbox is a pair of in and out plastic baskets left outside the front door, and mail slots don't lock.

Brightview is a place that feels like "home" rather than A HOME for seniors. The staff is always welcoming and cheery and kind and loving. Our mom/grandmother has been so well cared for that she is always smiling and happy. She participates in all of the activities and truly has come out of her shell since she has been a resident there. A wonderful, caring staff has become family to my mom and to all of us.

My wife has lived in the Wellspring Village memory care neighborhood of the Brightview at Fallsgrove Assisted Living Community for more than five years. I consider my decision to move my wife and partner of almost 59 years to Brightview at Fallsgrove to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I firmly believe that it would be impossible to find a better place for her as she deals with the challenges of advanced dementia. The associates who care for her are very well trained for their work and they excel in it. They are competent, caring people who enjoy coming to work and helping the residents every day. In over five years there has been very little turnover among the associates in Wellspring Village. They work very well as a team, led by an exceptionally skilled director. The larger Brightview at Fallsgrove Community seems like a home rather than an institution. It is not too large, and there is a personal touch provided by everyone who works there. As we are able to resume a full calendar of enrichment activities, the residents will enjoy an exceptional variety of opportunities to interact with others, learn and have fun every day. Special programs are provided for Wellspring residents, who are also free to take part in activities with the other residents of the community. When you walk into Brightview, you are aware that you are in a happy, clean, and professionally managed place to live. The executive director provides superb leadership for the community. Since both of my parents and my father-in-law, as well as several other family members and friends, have suffered with dementia of various types, I have visited many care facilities. Of all the places I have visited, Brightview at Fallsgrove has the best combination of professional care, well-designed facilities, cleanliness, friendliness, and professional, sensitive leadership that I have experienced. I recommend it without reservation.

As our family looked at places where my mother might live when her mind was clearly faltering, we looked at many in the Washington area. These places have different looks, feels, sizes, staff attitudes, activities, etc. Brightview Fallsgrove has the feeling of a boutique hotel, with beautiful architectural features inside, warm lovely colors, truly interesting visual art, peaceful music, many beautiful windows that mostly look onto trees and other plants, and common areas that are cozy and yet sophisticated. Brightview Fallsgrove rose to the top of our list. But what really became the most important deciding factor was the staff, particularly, at the time, the experienced director who was new to Brightview Fallsgrove, Kimkitta. I can't say enough good things about her, and it reflects well on the institution that this woman was their choice as director. Support staff from the young man at the front desk, Demetrius, to the woman who leads art projects in the memory care unit, Cara, and everyone else we have dealt with, have been exceptionally aware, sensitive, competent, and interested in the residents as well as the visiting family members. My mother moved into an assisted living apartment in November of 2019, but it became apparent that very first week that she could not handle that level of self-care and independence any longer, a fact that the staff may have recognized before we did, but we had not absorbed yet because she had been living alone in the home she had occupied for 54 years and managed the routines there in a limited way that hid the depth of change to her mental capacities. The Brightview Fallsgrove staff helped us make the transition to the memory care unit (Wellspring) swiftly and smoothly, with kindness, patience, support, and reassurance. During the last year of COVID-19 fears and lock-downs, their communications were frequent and the director was available for one-on-one questions and concerns as well. The art director (I don't think that is her title, but that is how we best know her), and other staff took on the task of being the only people in the residents' lives, continuing activities, facilitating Facetime calls, and undoubtedly explaining 9000 times why the masks were required and visitors couldn't come inside. I can't even imagine the strain of that on top of the virus fears and precautions like masks that are fatiguing, and were hard for memory care residents to understand. When I visited last week, now that everyone living and working there has received the vaccine, and in-person visits are finally possible again, you would not know that the staff had basically been fighting a war against the virus for a year, on behalf of the residents and staff... the place feels peaceful, beautiful, just as it did a year ago, and as the days warm I expect my mother will begin to enjoy time on the Wellspring patio, and perhaps even be able to help with the plants out there. All of us in the family are grateful that my mother -- an extraordinary hostess and caretaker throughout the decades of her life -- has a home at Brightview Fallsgrove, a place where her own core values are manifested in all the aspects of daily life.

When my mother in law needed more care than a traditional residence could provide we looked around and went with another assisted living facility. It was a horrible decision and we interviewed the folks at Brightview. Everything looked great but after our last experience we were pretty scared. My only regret is that we did not start there. Laura Daly and he caring and competent staff are amazing. My mother in laws condition worsened and the care she needed was enormous. Throughout all of the stages Brightview was as if an extension of our family. I would highly recommend Brightview to my friends and my family goes there.

I'm a nurse with a home visiting company. This is one of my favorite facilities that I visit. The staff from top to bottom is pleasant, knowledgeable, and compassionate. From every experience I've had here they do right for their residents and right by their residents. I'd trust them with any of my loved ones and you should too.
