DISAPPOINTED SENIOR

DO NOT MOVE IN THIS PLACE. 7 MANAGERS QUIT, BECAUSE WINGATE IS A HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT COMPANY. THERE ARE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH AIR AND HEAT, LEAKING, MOLD, STAIRS CAVEDI N AND SOMEONE WAS HURT. THE ELEVATOR WAS NOT WORKING FOR MONTHS. TENANTS WERE STRANDED IN THEIR APARTMENTS BECAUSE OF NO ELEVATOR. MAINTENANCE CHANGED SO MUCH YOU DID NOT KNOW WHO THEY WERE.. EACH BUILDING IS VERY DIRTY AND NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING. NO ONE CLEANS THE PORCES OR STAIRS. IT IS A VERY SAD PLACE FOR SENIORS. AGAIN DO NOT MOVE HERE

I won’t say it is a perfect “5”….but it certainly is not a awful as “Malestrom” described living here……other than the fact that I face the “parking lot” and I have a”screwball” for a neighbor it appears to be okay. It’s not a fancy “5 star” apartment building …..the rent reflects that…..but it appears to be well kept and cared for otherwise l don’t think that I could live here…..

Hillside Senior Apartments. What ever you have read about this place, is a jingle, song and dance, elevator music to sell but not a narrative or documentary to tell you the truth. I have lived here over a year, and am trying to move out but being a senior citizen, it is not easy to move 2 times in a years time. Let me tell you of my and other clients experiences. As of 15 July 2022, there has been for several months now, a citizens committee that meets on the 1st Monday of each month to air grievances that the management refuse, Refuse to reconcile. They include vermin problem, roof leaks on to their furniture, water coming in under the door when it rains, crime and vagrants who hang out on the property along with abandoned vehicles that just sit in parking spaces. My personal experiences have been not being able to use the common walkway to get in and out of my rented property due to it being obscured by debris, stolen shopping carts from neighborhood stores, chairs blocking off the walk for all but about 30 inches. I have been attacked and bitten multiple times by the dog of a resident who just lets the animals run free, I cannot have a door mat because when I open my door the people next to me let their animals run amok on any landing up and down to the 3rd floor and would leave hair all over my property. If you are coming up the stairs and you have mobility problems, an animal can decide to run a fright, between your legs out of no where and startle you so you might fall down the insubstantial stairs. The lift door doesn’t stay open for more than a few seconds so if you are incapacitated, it could close on you or if you are moving in you get scant seconds to get your things in the lift because they do not provide a key and there is only one lift per terrace juxtapose blocked off stairs due to their crumbling which is a fire safety hazard. The office staff treat residents like they are institutionalized and denigrate them to their faces, fluffing them off with disregard, indigence, disrespect and condescension. They talk down their nose at you as if you are a disturbance, an intrusive interruption and they could not be bothered; yelling in hostile aggression at times when you get the intellectual better of them or catch them in a lie or just demanding to be treated with respect and dignity. The stairs are made of inferior concrete as is all the work done around here as if done by unskilled labor with budget materials so much so, that many staircases are blocked off because they fell through, crumbling concrete under the feet of the residents, who again, I remind you, are senior citizens. The pool is never open on time and always ill kept, it is suppose to be a non smoking residence but people burn all kinds of fumigating items that stink up the walkway and those who live juxtapose their residences flat. Huge foxes run through the property at night, last week a resident was attacked at dusk by a random man (people hang around the property looking for opportunity). The people who painted the outside left the masking tap on the structures they painted, the doors are substantial on some of the rooms inside, using double doors and they used particle board and high pressed cardboard frames to hang them with ½ inch screws so they literally pull out from their frames and cannot be closed due to them being off line, the vents in one of our rooms doesn’t work at all so the doors need to remain open all the time to vent the smoke coming in from the next unit who treats the sidewalk way as an extension of their residence, blocking it with bags of animal droppings, cardboard food boxes and unused decorative chairs. Everyone who seems to wish to gossip wish to be involved in your private affairs. There is a window to the residences that goes from ceiling to floor that is insubstantial and decorative, doesn’t open. Easily breached. The place is a recycled motel of Extended Stay, who is a slum motel company. The closets are hard to get in to, small, insubstantial and cannot take anything more than a trite, scant, brief motel size array of a wardrobe for a brief stay yet they are used as apartments, The 2 bedroom apartments are about 780 sq ft so no real amount of living furniture can be used. The maintenance personnel are non existent, some residents waiting for over half a year for repairs. When they do arrive, they use your elderly status to presume dementia, stupidity and senility upon you, using you for their jibes, entertaining themselves for sport, making stupid wise cracks and condescending insult about statements you make to them. This place is no end of a nightmare and is ill staffed, poorly staffed, untrained staffed, you can’t get any respect unless you treat them as if they are the client. The manager is overwhelmed, no quality help and usually they seem to not hire any one but a low as you can pay, minority work force. As if they are trying to rehabilitate or use the cheapest most inexpensive veneer workers possible to put on a veneer. Most jobs that are done are bubble gum and chicken wire and will need to be done again due to the fact they will, fall apart. The residents are fed up with the lack of response, poor response, condescension and have sought outside help from the county to resolve these and numerous other issues I am stressed to outline because it would be too wordy. Needless to say, if you move in here, you will see fixtures off line, outlets not leveled, substantial shower doors that aren’t level and close on their own or open on their own. Dry wall that crumbles under the towel rack so much so it won’t hold towels or screws just fall out of the walls as the walls fall apart on their own. They spent the bare minimum to make a dilapidated residence, look good. No one elderly should stay here. It is not for senior citizens. Maybe Guantanamo convalescence.

I have stopped at this complex off and on for two years. I cannot ever find anyone in the office. Office hours are not adhered to. I will stop again today to see if I can get an application for a relative seeking housing here.

Had to wait very long time for office to open. No one answers the phone. Residents coming in seem timid to ask too many questions. Something not right here. Also the tall lady talks right over them. My observation say this is not good.

Went to visit a friend who is living at these wonderful apartments in Montgomery County for Seniors. First thing I noticed was how clean and bright everything is as someone suggested on here. I agree. Then, I made sure to observe residents asking questions at the office and how the office staff treated them. I read a not-so-good review about the office, so I wanted to observe for myself. It isnt true from what I could see. The office seemed very open, responsive, respectful and attentive to their residents requests. This is very important. The apartments are very nice inside with everything new, and the bathrooms have the safety bars. The floor to ceiling windows are quite lovely. I wonder how often they will clean the windows in the future from the outside as they are big? Residents have a dedicated courtyard that I imagine many would take daily strolls around. There are a group of homes in another community one side of these senior apartments that look stable and quiet, but the shopping strip area is not so appealing. I give this apartment 5 stars because of its price, its location in proximity to major highways, transportation via bus about one block away, grocery across street, clean areas, amenities such as the courtyard for strolls, pool, library, computer, conference room, exercise room, laundry, optional activities etc. I like learning that the elevators have their own generator, so if you are on the upper floors you can always get down. Finding a community that share common interests is a good thing for Senior Citizens. ast things- there seems to be some great cooks here as Ive seen a few shared dishes among them and some friendly good-hearted folks. Finally- these folks have some of the cutest (but fierce) little dogs here. Nice place. 5 Star, (but that does not mean perfect).

Very lovely Senior Independent Living in Southern Gaithersburg. Has pool and hot tub, activities, and can walk to grocery store. Super friendly office staff who seem to care about the residents. Clean!... which is extremely important.
