If you want to put a contract out on a family member; send them here. How can the state of Maryland give a license to these facilities?? The care is terrible. My family member was here for rehab after surgery. The reason I am giving 2 stars is for P.T. which was fairly decent. Nursing staff is horrible. Aides would come into my family members room and go into their bathroom and talk on their cell phones. No one came to answer the call bell and when they did, they yelled at my family member! My family member contracted a UTI while here which they had never before had in their life. Food was cold. Room left dirty for days. Hallways stink. Noise from every radio and TV in patient's rooms at full volume blast all day and night. The place is short staffed, morale is low and the staff let you know it. The pathetic thing is, all nursing facilities in Maryland are like this. No human being deserves to be treated like this. The Office of Healthy Care Quality in Maryland is a contradiction in terms and they need to be audited, investigated and fined for their dismal performance.

I was a patient in Encore's Rehab for one month for post-surgical care. The staff's support and care and my PT during my difficult recovery was excellent. In particular, my main nurse was Charmaine, who is an outstanding caretaker. Every morning, she would greet me and ask about how I was feeling, and then she would help me. She would continue to help me throughout the day. Her empathy and compassion is amazing and she was so comforting to me! This kind of compassionate care is exactly what a patient needs at a difficult time like this! Charmaine is the ultimate caretaker - five stars and I would give her a million if I could! My Rehab experience at Encore was excellent and I recommend it to you or your loved one.

Medicare patients going for post surgical rehabilitation in-house care BEWARE! Lorien bills Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) as a Skilled Nursing Care center and not as a rehabilitation Center. Consequently if you expect BCBS to pick up any deductibles after Medicare they don't! You will be liable for 1000's of dollars not paid by Medicare!! They claim that they didn't know this? Right like no one else has ever found out the hard way? And just what skilled nursing care did my wife get? Well when she needed help to get to the toilet the so-called "Skilled Nurses" most often would just call foe an aide to do this as they walked away! Often the aide arrived 20 to 30 minutes after her initial request and long after she soiled herself and her bedding. Oh the nurses did deliver her meds to her, and I guess that takes an RN to do that. And as far as the 5 days a week of both Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) she was supposed to get. The session were often for far less than the requisite 45 minutes, in which they put her on a stationary bike for much of the time while they worked on their laptops. believe they included in the "45" minutes the time it took them to wheel her from her room to their work site. She didn't receive any truly useful PT or OT until she received at home visits two to three times a week by PT's and OTs who spent the time actually being engaged and working with her. I believe had we hired an in-home care assistant rather than going here she would have receive better care than by going to their Facility..

When my dad needed around the clock care after becoming ill, i shopped around for a place that would provide the best care for him and during my search i came accross Lorien Encore and i must say i was extremely happy with my decision to place him in their care because not only did it have a beautiful 5 star look of a upscale hotel the staff was super attentive to the needs of my dad and they was loving and caring as well as communicated with my family about any and all changes about my dad's health no matter how big or small of a change it was. Mom really loved the food and the staff. They seemed to like her as well. However, we went to move her out today and under the bed and by her chair, garbage and dirt was piled up. The building is run efficiently, and everyone truly operates as a team. The management team is extremely professional and always goes above and beyond to ensure the residents are happy and comfortable. But what sets Encore at Turf Valley apart is the amazing staff. From the moment they arrived, they were greeted with warmth and kindness from all of the employees. They truly care about the residents, and it shows in the level of love and care they provide daily. Whether it was the nursing staff, the dining team, or the activities coordinators, everyone went out of their way to make sure their loved one felt at home and well taken care of. They also have to mentioned the beautiful facilities and amenities available to residents. The grounds are immaculate, and there are many wonderful activities and events to participate in. Encore at Turf Valley truly provides a luxurious and comfortable living experience. Overall, I can't recommend Encore at Turf Valley enough. Lorien Encore of Ellicott city the nurse/supervisor working on the AL side are very nasty. She will lie on the agency workers quick. Just so they can be DNR from the facility. She didn't know I recorded her when I was trying to talk to her on a professional level. The supervisor/ nurse was getting nasty with me. Then lied to the HR LADY and tell her that I was raising my voice and getting nasty with her. That was not true at all. I wanted to who removed me off the schedule I had applied for that shift a few days prior. I lied and said I didn't work a shift when the other staff had seen me working that day. As well as me clocking in. I can not clock in if I weren't at the facility. Far as the patients they not being properly cared for when this one particular Nurse/Supervisor on duty. I don't know her name but I surely remember her face. Please peoples check on your love ones there. Please

It was fine, but always seems like there is an issue with the linens. My mother needed a clean draw sheet for her bed, but there were none to be found nearby. The nurse had to go to another hallway and hopefully got it from a cart and not another patients room (cross contamination) to bring me one. She's mentioned this to me on more than one occasion. The fact that they can't make the bed because of no clean linen so she has to sit in her wheel chair and wait several hours for more linen. Maybe purchase more linen or hire more staff to clean the soiled linen in a more timely fashion. Thanks

My mother has been living in the assisted living area since February 2022, it is truly a godsend for us. She enjoys every day and attends most all of the activities, and there are plenty! We couldn't be more happy with her caregivers, and the entire staff. After just a month or two, we knew most of the staff by name and they couldn't be friendlier. They are both professional and caring while they communicate any important issues while taking care of all the details! The property is large enough to feel like a small town including physical therapy, hairdresser, dining areas, theatre, etc but small enough that my mother knows all of her neighbors and can easily get around. Our favorite area is the outside courtyard near the fountain, it's beautiful and a perfect place for us to visit for hours. It's a wonderful facility!!

The staff was friendly, however when I entered my brothers room the floors were sticky and food everywhere, it didn't appear to have been clean for a day or two, it had nats flying around which means he had to sleep with them, the bathroom hadn't been clean as well, We are still in COVID and this is not acceptable living conditions, We did report this to the administration who had the room clean while we were there but what if we didnt come that day, He need more sunlight, With all the nurses sitting around that could have assisted us sooner, We shouldn't have had to go and find someone to help after pushing the nurse button after waiting 10 minutes, We expect more for the care of my brother, He room wasn't the only one that's was dirty. We will be visiting more often to ensure he is getting the care he needs.

My mom was in the rehab facility for a few weeks. The communication is terrible when I would call I would have to leave a message on a voice mail and ask for a call back and I still haven't received a call back. There is poor communication I'm suppose to pick my mom up and this is the night before and I still don't know what time When my mom was feeling pain from her physical therapy I tried to call them and again I was told the lady on the phone was a rehab nurse when I fact they don't have a rehab nurse. Again no communication When you bring food for the patient you are expected to leave it for 24 hrs before they can have it so don't take hot food and nothing that will be soggy cause 24 hrs is a long time on the porch where everyone walks in and out. How clean and safe can that be

Today I was threatened by Lou Grimmel Jr. In short, if I didn’t take a negative review (that wasn’t mine) down. I would not get the refund my family was entitled to. I requested $2500 (discounted community fees) after my father left after 3 WEEKS! The main (not the only) reason he left: A man entered my dads apt and grabbed him and Lou said it didn’t happen. His investigation was biased and he failed to speak to witnesses present from our side. He stated “I spoke w my team members, and what you said happened never happened.” Although, it was communicated to me the man was removed from the facility… if it didn’t happen why was the man removed? 🤔 He raised his voice and began “man-splaining” my contract to me. Stating “it sounds like you don’t UNDERSTAND the contract you signed, do you need me to break it down for you,”… in a loud, condescending tone. :::I informed him of his contract violation, which was …keeping my dad safe! I stated I did not appreciate his tone or level of disrespect. He kept arguing with me stating “I clearly don’t get it.” I am over the threats and mistreatment of customers. We paid for services and in the end they took our money without empathy or understanding and denied the incident that occurred. I will stand by any negative review. I will also post the detailed eye witness account that Lou failed to acknowledge.
