Mom and Dad lived at Harmony since 2018. During that time, they had excellent care and were provided ample opportunities to join in on all activities. Mom found an outlet for her love of flower arranging and was able to teach others, as well. Overall, it was a perfect fit, given their needs during this stage of their lives. Our family was very fortunate to have been directed to Harmony Hall. Thank you for your care throughout these years.

Harmony Hall’s memory care neighborhood, Harmony Park, has been an incredible blessing for our family. My mom receives the attentive, compassionate support she needs, while my dad, who requires very little assistance, is still able to remain by her side. That alone is a gift we deeply value. The memory care team is truly exceptional, combining genuine compassion with real expertise. The setting itself is beautiful, with a park-like feel and thoughtfully designed lighting that shifts naturally from day to night, creating an environment that feels peaceful, safe, and uplifting. What stands out most is the dignity and respect shown to every resident each day. Knowing my parents are so well cared for gives our family immense peace of mind. We only wish we had made the move sooner.

My 91 year old uncle recently passed away after receiving truly wonderful care at Harmony Hall. For the entire time he was there, the staff did everything to ensure his stay was as happy and healthy as possible. I got to know most of his caregivers by name and was amazed at how proactive they were whenever we needed help. As his health worsened, they contacted me whenever needed. I can't imagine my uncle living anywhere else during this time. It truly took the load off of our entire family but more importantly, gave him safety, purpose and happiness when he needed it the most.

As a resident at Harmony Hall, I have been blessed with excellent care provided by staff in each and every department. The Director of Harmony Hall is truly caring, thoughtful, accessible and accommodating. The heads of the various departments make a concerted effort to address my questions and concerns. Therapists I have worked with are very skilled and knowledgeable in their specific disciplines and I have been very pleased with their approach and strategies to help me gain more independence. The nurses, caregivers and medical technicians are attentive to the needs of the residents and many of them go above and beyond to help. Kudos go out to the maintenance crew and housekeeping staff for their diligence and hard work especially when it comes to resolving any issues that may arise. I can’t say enough good things about the lovely front desk staff. They are so kind and willing to help me with any ongoing issues I might have. They also are fun to talk with and help to lift my spirits tremendously. The dining hall staff are very personable, as well, and work hard to meet the needs of each resident. I also find the staff in charge of activities to be very energetic and friendly and are working toward providing more diversity when it comes to activities. Just the other day, one of the staffers spent a good amount of time solving problems I was having with my computer. The apartments are spacious, and the common areas are roomy, as well. It would be nice if there was an area that could accommodate residents who wanted to participate in another activity at the same time there may be a regularly scheduled activity (ie bingo). I enjoy a number of the groups that come to entertain us, although I do feel it would be great if we could have more opportunities to engage in Arts (music, theatre, dance, museum visits) and nature programming outside of the building, for those that are able to do so. During the almost two years I have been at Harmony Hall, I have made friends , felt safe and felt cared for. I do think those are pretty important factors when choosing an assisted care facility.

My father has been at Harmony Hall for several months now. The facilities are great, and the staff has been tremendous. Everyone that I have dealt with has been very friendly and helpful. They have gone out of their way to help our family with every request and accommodation. My dad says he likes the food, and he says the staff has been very nice to him and they treat him well and take good care of him.
October 2025
Our experience with Lorien Harmony Hall was very cold and corporate. The executive team lacked empathy and compassion for our father who was in critical need of assisted living support. My only advice to anyone is if you are looking for a compassionate team that will work to serve your family's needs, look somewhere else. In August 2025, we expressed interest in Lorien Harmony Hall for our father, who really liked the place when we toured. In October, Harmony Hall's Executive Director, Victoria Rosier, decided to deny my father's admission based on an arbitrary clinical assessment that he needed sub-acute rehab first. They did not acknowledge current medical records, or clinical staff attempts to work with Harmony Hall for direct admission. The appropriate action would have been a peer-to-peer clinical discussion to clarify any questions. However, as the clinical case worker put it "they just don't want to take him". Our family invested $4500 in the community fee, had countless emails with Lorien over the course of two months only to be denied by email for an acute incident. When I told the Executive Director, Victoria Rosier, how disappointing this was, she said she was sorry we felt this way and our $4500 deposit was waiting at the concierge’s desk. The entire experience was devastating and left us and our loved one without planned support. While I believe the sales director, Chelsea, tried really hard to advocate for our family, I do not believe she has the support of her leadership team or the freedom to make executive decisions. She often had to get confirmation from her Executive Director, Victoria Rosier, to finalize any agreements. My experience with Victoria was not pleasant, she was often rigid and lacked the compassion expected of a healthcare executive. She also did not show the ability to be strategic to achieve a common goal, which was helping our father find as safe and welcoming home. My father is now living in an assisted living that warmly accepted him and did the clinical assessments in less than two weeks. I personally shared our experience with neighboring facilities and learned it should never take two months to make an admissions decision.
October 2025
My mother had wonderful care. There were times a nurse called to raise a concern about something we didn't notice, the activity staff made sure there were always interesting programs. At one point there were not 4 bridge players in the building so the director arranged for an aide to learn bridge. The aide would sit in if a 4th was needed and if not, would be present to assist others . This was very kind and thoughtful especially as folks older and couldn't always maneuver cards or remember. Bridge is just one example of helping residents stay engaged. I could easily list 10 more ways the staff went beyond anything I expected. My mom had been at a different place before and the difference was night and day. I cannot recommend Harmony Hall highly enough.

Chelsea Mccartin helped me with getting my husband into Harmony Hall. Any issue we had during the process she was able to solve in a timely manner and with great respect and a smile. She worked very hard on coming up with the best room for my husband's particular needs. She would be a rtrue asset to any business!
June 2025
My experience with Lorien at Harmony Hall was a relatively brief 5 weeks in March-April 2025. My father was in the memory care unit during this time. The facility itself is nice, and they continue to make renovations and improvements to their memory care floor. There are a lot of resources and medical infrastructure nearby, which minimizes the need to go offsite for medical care. While the physical facility is important, you can see and judge that with your own eyes before making any decisions. I would suggest that the more important consideration, and harder to evaluate, is the quality of the people working there, and the care that they will provide. In this regard, Lorien at Harmony Hall excelled. Moving a loved one into memory care is usually a difficult time for all involved. It is important to have caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable professionals on staff. The people that we dealt with at Harmony Hall were excellent. A few stood out in particular. Chelsea introduced us to the facility and worked with us through all of the admission logistics. She was wonderful. Nayeli, the Director of Health and Wellness, is also exceptional. Nayeli exhibits a blend of no nonsense competence and heart-felt empathy that is both reassuring and comforting. Despite what I know were tremendous and constant demands on her time and attention, she always seemed to have time for us. She was spectacular. I also want to mention and thank Natalya, who we saw a lot, as she was in charge of the day shift nurses that cared for my father. My family encountered many other dedicated and caring people at Harmony Hall during our short time there who deserve our thanks and appreciation. If you are looking at assisted living or memory care facilities, Lorien at Harmony Hall is definitely worth considering.

I love Harmony Hall! I first visited there last year as a Santa Portrayal Artist seeking opportunities to share my gifts. I met Danny the activities director and he and I shared the same vision for enhancing the residents experience. I came back for a Christmas in July Celebration, and then again for Christmas events. I am simply blown away by the attention to detail and events that are just over the top. I was also in this industry prior to retirement and becoming Santa Claus so I know quality and innovation when I see it! Victoria Rosier the Executive Director is so down to earth and approachable but is absolutely determined to set new standards and be the absolute best. She has created in a very short time an incredible sense of teamwork and positive can do attitude. She has also taken the dining program to new heights by adding some top Culinary talents. The cuisine I have sampled here is as good or better than what you will find in some of the greatest restaurants. In my interactions with the residents they are all very happy to be here. Harmony Hall is a 5 star community!!

I recently attended the Halloween event at Lorien Harmony Hall Senior Living in Columbia, Maryland, and it was absolutely exceptional! The decorations were festive, the activities were engaging, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement. A special shoutout to Yuri and Victoria, whose hard work and dedication truly made the event memorable. Their creativity and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of the celebration. From the spooky decorations to the fun-filled games, everything was perfectly organized and executed. Thank you, for making this Halloween a fantastic experience for our families and guests. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and I look forward to more wonderful events at Lorien Harmony Hall!

I recently visited Lorien Harmony Hall, where they hosted a wonderful Trick-or-Treat event for kids, with residents happily joining in on the fun. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and both the staff and residents were incredibly welcoming. It was heartwarming to see how happy the residents were to participate. Lorien is a beautiful community, and you can truly feel the family spirit there. It’s wonderful to see all the events they host here. It really shows the thoughtfulness and commitment to creating a lively, engaging environment for everyone.

One of loved ones recently moved to Harmony Hall following a sudden crisis. I received great help from the two staff members in charge of his admission. They have been professional, kind and gone out of their way to give me any assistance I have needed. Harmony Hall is a beautiful facility and every employee I have encountered has been friendly and helpful. My loved one is having a difficult life adjustment and I am confident this is the best place for his needs.
October 2024
My time at Lorien Harmony Hall has been positive overall, though I initially struggled to adjust. The entertainment revolved around my birthday organized was fantastic, and I even got up to dance! The activities are engaging and motivate me to participate. I've noticed many residents joining in, and while it can be challenging for some to get involved, I encourage everyone to explore and have fun. In the last three months, there’s been a noticeable improvement in the dining room experience. The staff have been exceptional, the activity team particularly JJ, Anne Margaret, Renee, and Danny. Danny’s energy is always contagious.JJ always has been a great help with my software and technical issues, while Joe goes above and beyond to ensure our safety and security in the building. Jon is dedicated and always responsive to our needs, bringing a positive attitude to service issues.I see great enthusiasm from The Lorien Team. Thank you for all you do!

I love the food here and having an early dinner because I don’t eat lunch. The caregivers and staff are great. Very helpful.

My grandmother has been a resident at Harmony Hall for six years. She will be celebrating her 90th birthday this month, and I couldn’t be happier for the life experience she has at Harmony Hall. She loves all of the weekly activities such as Bingo, a ladies Bible Study, and many crafts that keep her busy. We often hear about all of the special events as well, especially during the Holiday season. She loves the variety of food they are offered every day, which is so important for the elderly to eat properly on a daily basis. My wife and I are blessed to visit her often, and her mind is always good from the constant stimulus, and her demeanor is always upbeatand she is truly happy at this stage of her life. Thank you Harmony Hall, your staff, and management team, that genuinely care for their residents. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.

It’s Not About The Socks. There is a book about care facilities I have always remembered, It’s Not About The Socks. ” It explains that when a family comes in and complains that one of their family members socks is missing, staff must be aware that the family may really be upset concerning having to admit their family member to care ” In my 50+ years as a social worker and RN in memory care centers, I had to remember ” It’s not always about the socks. That must be remembered when reading reviews of care in a facility as well. My situation is unusual, I think. I have no close family. But, in the many years I’ve lived here at HH I have found the family I miss. The employees here are caring, friendly and responsible without exception. I have found what I was missing in the staff ” From the top, from the front desk” to housekeeping and maintenance. I have found love and caring throughout. I have found the care I was missing. Sure there are things that go amiss, but they are addressed quickly ” and usually ” completely resolved or close to it. So I don’t worry about my socks ” I found my family.

My mom moved into Golden Living Studio Apartment in April 2022, now absorbed by Lorien Harmony Hall. My mom had a stroke in 2016 and has been living with me due to her physical limitations, but have been bore out of her mind. She is no longer bore staying home by herself, finally has a handful of friends and safe place to walk around the compound. She has a freedom of movement, she comes and goes as she pleases. She is able to walk to Giant, which is across the street from the complex to pick up fruits and things. A super responsive and caring primary care medical team. There is a Lotte Mart weekly shuttle bus run. Home-cooked Korean lunch, movie theater, community concerts, and Bingo are her favorite things about this place. 🙂 We live in Washington state but moved her here, because this was the first quality, but not ridiculously priced independent/assisted living facility that serves a Korean meal and managed by lovely caring people, we found after visiting over three dozen facilities throughout South Korea, VA, MD, and WA since 2020. We are grateful for this place and the management team. Thank you!

My sister has been residing at Lorien Harmony Hall for four months and has received great individualized care. The nursing staff go the extra mile to make sure their residents’ needs are met effectively and efficiently. The staff is caring and the nurses are active problem solvers. If you raise a concern, they will find find a way to make sure it is addressed. I truly appreciate their efforts and positive attitudes. They take the time to make sure their residents are cared for in a proactive way.

Thank you for resolving all the issues!

The staff members are great .. lots of activities for the senior. A big negative is the food , it sucks big time and the residence are not getting their money's worth. The food is served cold.. poor service in the dinning room, residence have to beg for everything , ie salt, ketchup, silverware etc. Lack of choices , as there should be more than one item on the menu. A new food vendor is badly needed !!

August 2020
My mother lived at Harmony Hall for 21 years. She had medical conditions that made it unsafe for her to live alone, but she didn't want to live with her children. She started in independent living and really thrived there. She was relieved of the burden of managing her prescription drugs, and cooking meals; two tasks that she really needed help with. She took advantage of the outings and activities offered by Harmony Hall. Over the years her health declined. After a stroke left her severely impaired, she moved to a higher level of care. Through the years, Harmony Hall constantly assessed her current needs and made adjustments to her care as needed. The staff was a fabulous partner with me to provide the best quality of life we could achieve. My mom was not always easy to care for, but the folks at Harmony Hall worked very hard to find ways to improve her life as she aged and her needs and capabilities changed. The facility is very clean and well maintained. They refurbish the well used common areas regularly to keep them fresh and in good repair. They have areas our family used to hold gatherings so we could include Mom, even after her health prevented her from going out to events. Every staff member greets residents by name; a skill that I am a little jealous of, and is appreciated by the residents and families. They all had techniques for working with my mom. The on site occupational and physical therapy are outstanding. So is the nursing care. And when our family reached the end of life phase with Mom, Harmony Hall was excellent at that as well, partering seamlessly with Gilchrist, right in her familiar home, mom's Harmony Hall apartment. Harmony Hall was a great home for Mom 21 years ago when was mobile and actively participated in activities. It was still great as her health declined over the years. Mom had a peaceful passing, in her own apartment at Harmony Hall, with her family and familiar caregivers around her. I am thankful we were able to partner with Harmony Hall to provide this.
June 2020
My mother was recently diagnosed with Parkinson' disease. After months in the hospital and rehab we were fortunate enough to find her a forever home at Harmony Hall. The entire staff - administrative, transportation, nurses, care givers, dining room - ALL of them are truly amazing. They made mom feel comfortable and cared for and are always responsive to any questions we have. During this pandemic they have risen above and beyond to keep the residents and staff protected and safe, as well as the family members informed.
June 2020
If you want a second family that will truly care about your loved one, research no further- Harmony Hall is the right choice! I did EXTENSIVE research before transferring my mom from rehab to Harmony Hall, and I couldn't be happier. I was impressed with the staff before the pandemic, but now I am honestly just blown away by the level of commitment by the entire staff - not only to my mom's heath and safety, but to her happiness and desire to stay socially engaged. The amount of communication with the families during this quarantine has been simply remarkable and appreciated more than I can express. The staff has gone above and beyond to keep my mom connected to her family through video calls and now even an in--person visit by my sister and nieces from a safe distance. I look forward to being able to fly back to Maryland and see my mom and thank the staff. Harmony Hall is an absolutely beautiful facility with an incredibly caring staff. I was extremely worried when COVID-19 first hit and was scared for my mom and the entire elderly population across the country, but it all changed when one of her nurses told me on the phone that she loves my mom "as if she were her mom."

My family could not have picked a better place for my dad's last couple of months. He was with Harmony Hall from Feb. 2020 through May 2020. Even though not being able to visit him during the COVID outbreak, the staff at Harmony Hall were like his 2nd family. The facility is super nice, like a resort. My dad was extremely happy with the facility and staff. Much appreciation to the Harmony Hall family for taking such good care of him through a difficult time!!! You will always be in my heart!! An absolutely lovely facility, with amazing, friendly, and helpful staff. Harmony Hall helped us host a charity event, and everyone was beyond amazing. The facility itself is beautiful and has newly been renovated, and every time we walked in there, everyone looked so happy. Harmony Hall is well organized, and always has lots of events going on for the people who live there. They have movie nights, bingo nights, and other community events to bring everyone together. Everyone is super nice and I highly recommend Lorien Harmony Hall.

Harmony Hall is a place full of friendly and lovely residents. The three stars im giving is because of the staff. No clean towels unless you bother them about it more than once. No picking up trash from the apartments. Staff in the cafeteria are rude to residents and always have an attitude. No respect and no patience towards the residents. Some residents even avoid asking for more things because of the attitude they get in return.

After undergoing rehabilitation for a hip injury, my 81-year-old father resided at Harmony Hall for about six weeks in a respite care apartment. Kendall was extremely helpful with the admissions process and continued to provide top-notch assistance and attention throughout his stay, all the way through and beyond his discharge. She could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The nurses and other staff members were also great, making us feel at ease while moving through what was a completely unfamiliar situation for my dad, myself and the rest of our family. I highly recommend Harmony Hall!!!
March 2015
My parents moved to Harmony Hall in January 2002 and remained there until my Dad passed in June 2013 and Mom in August 2014. They moved to Harmony Hall because my mom found them to be the only assisted living facility which would provide the extra help she needed to care for my dad after his stroke the previous year and she wanted to get him out of the nursing home where he felt he was in prison (literally). The extra assistance along with her tireless efforts (and lots of PT and OT) enabled Dad to recover to the point where he could walk with a walker and he ended up taking laps around the place. They moved to the first floor and lived there for almost ten years before Dad began an 18 month decline in his final illness. With respect to the staff I never saw any of the staff be less than patient and kind in that 12+ years despite the constant repetition needed with those suffering dementia. Being only about 10 miles away I was there a lot. Staff turnover was much lower than I would have thought and there were a couple of staff members who were there before my parents arrived and remained though the entire time that I was visiting HH. The most heartwarming thing for me was that all of the staff members dropped by the room to say their goodbyes during the time between my mom's death and when the funeral home staff arrived to take her.

Families and their loved ones are encouraged to do the following before deciding on a community.
- Schedule a tour and visit the physical location to make sure community description is accurate.
- Confirm with community manager that living and services required for you or your loved one's unique needs and budget are met.
- Check with state government websites for additional provider licensing and information.
If there is any information that is inaccurate or needs to be updated, please contact Assisted Living Center.
Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
