Don't leave your loved ones alone. Check on them. They will neglect them forget to feed them, give meds wrong, misdiagnose them and try to say they didn't realize the level of help they needed. It supposed to be one of the best in the state of MD. Not anymore!

It is never an easy decision or process for helping one's parents transition to a safe place outside their home. My siblings and I did this last winter and have been incredibly pleased with the Masonic Home. We are certain we found the best possible place for both of them - mom is in long-term care and dad in an independent apt. Both are safe and well taken care of. We can not say enough good things about the people/staff who have helped us along the way. Dad's unit was beautifully updated prior to his move in. He now can easily visit mom daily and even get her to the onsite beauty salon and bingo...with the help of very caring aids. We often tease that Masonic Home is Maryland's best kept elder care secret.

I just like the slogan for the end of the liners, on their last leg. "Helping you reach life's potential." Really says a lot about Maryland.

Maryland Masonic's rehab facility is outstanding. My mom was bed ridden for 4 months following a fall and terrible experience at another rehab. She was transported to Masonic after a second hospital stay. After 10 weeks in Masonic's rehab, she is now walking, using the steps and able to use the bathroom on her own (all with a walker). Just amazing turnaround. Every staff member there was friendly and respectful - receptionist, security, nurses, care givers, PT, OT, food service, etc. The care givers came when she needed them, no waiting for hours like she did at another facility. My mom loved being at the Masonic Home rehab.

Good staff with a great attitude, despite being understaffed by my observations. (Takes several minutes for a response to a sincere call for assistance. E.g. toilet. Observered this on several different visits to the Harbor rehab wing). Facility is kept clean and sanitary (does not wreak of urine). Strong Covid protective protocols in place. Medication seemed appropriate. Food is decent. So they are good and could be great, if they just had more nursing staff, even LPs not necessarily RNs

My father lived at Bonnie Blink for the last 13 months of his life. He loved it there and was very well cared for, first in assisted living, and then with full nursing care as he declined. He liked the staff, the food, the environment, and especially loved his nurses, who loved him right back. When he died, two of his nurses came to his funeral, and cried along with the rest of us. My brother and I took great comfort in knowing that our dad was being cared for by good people in a good place.

Great Security staff, great LPN and RN staff, some good housekeepers but overall not a big fan. They hire from the inner city and those are the only employees they DO NOT drug test. Fights erupt in the kitchen, and in front of residents. A few years ago there was a stabbing in the kitchen. Theft was prevalent with employees as well. Beware of these things.
