When I first approached my father about his need for assisted-living, he only imagined the worst stereotypes of the past. Cold institutional setting, bad food served in a cafeteria at set times, and an excess of jell-o, people crying at night in pain, etc. It took a lot of effort to have him give Bayberry a chance but the change in his life was immediate. Dad began socializing again after years of living mostly alone. He loves the food and raves about the meal options, the ability to get a snack, coffee, or a drink whenever he wants. He has come out of his shell and is a regular at the Bingo table, the evening movie in the theater room, etc. A few weeks ago he told me that he was the happiest he has been in years and he wished he hadn't fought me over coming. Thank you Hollis and the rest of the staff at Bayberry for making my dad feel right at home.

Bayberry has been the best place for my mom. The center isn't really that big, but that's what makes it perfect for my mom who has early Dementia/Alsheimer's. The staff there are the best. So kind and helpful in many ways. So, I feel like she gets a lot of personal attention. Her apartment is a perfect size, and we were able to decorate it like she wanted, so it feels homey to her. The meals are prepared fresh every day, and my mom hasn't complained about the food at all. They schedule different activities throughout the day, and sometimes special things like live music and live performers and special meals to celebrate a holiday. I would highly recommend Bayberry for your loved one if your looking for a place for them to be in.

This review has been more difficult to write than originally anticipated. We all dance around the changes we see in our parents as they age. The day that we’re faced with the fact that living at home is no longer a safe or viable for them, we enter a vortex. Options are everywhere and we experienced many of them, and made plenty of mistakes early, on this winding path which began elsewhere in 2022. We know now that the road to success is rarely a straight line. By the time we found Bayberry, we had moved 3 times for a multitude of reasons, namely facilities closing, changes in level of care and independence status, and newer, disreputable acquisitions within communities. All ultimately led to disruption in care and relationships forged. My Sister and I felt like Senior Living Experts after 2 years. But by that time we didn’t need to be, because we knew as soon as we walked in, that Bayberry knew how to do this thing. Properly. That it was the right place; we both felt it immediately, and were trying hard not to want it too much in case it didn’t work out. It worked out. Our mother began living at Avita at Bayberry in the Fall of 2024. She entered with a diagnosis of Dementia. Our fiercely independent, yet very introverted, chronically-cranky mother who had a black belt in stubbornness, and always leery of new people, suddenly had a new roommate, and a floor full of people her age she would soon come to befriend and care deeply for. We were there for a little over a year; in that time, we were introduced to a version of our mother we had never known before with the help of a solid, loving, core team of overseers who over time, became more like family to us than employees of a corporation. That’s the thing about Avita; they do a phenomenal job of selecting, installing, and organizing employees for specific roles, ensuring optimal performance and experience for their residents and their families. And when the right people are in position, they become the soul of the place; the steady drum of its’ heartbeat. AVITA’s Jackie, Jose’ and Evelyn, as well as Kaylin, Bayberry’s Director of Programming, and so, so many others, had given our mother a sense of comfort, belonging, security, and unconditional affection that changed who she was, and ultimately who we were. This team is compassionate and generous with their attention and kindness, and together, have the kind of synergy any large organization would have a fever-dream over. The day we moved to hospice, I mentioned to Hollis, Bayberry’s Executive Director, that finally finding the type of place that had given us the kind of deep exhale we were able to experience with Avita, especially after our Mother had lost the ability to use her phone and be in immediate contact with us if needed, was invaluable. We NEVER worried. Everything was under control. We’re forever grateful and deeply indebted to everyone at Bayberry in Tewksbury who were in the car for this ride with us.

The entire staff was very qualified and very empathetic. I have been the hairstylist at Bayberry since 2008. I have met and loved many residents who have sat in my chair. Although I’m not a family member with experience to write about, I am a witness to the hardwork, dedication , and love that the staff gives to the residents everyday. When your loved ones sit in my chair they open up about past and present stories of family and friends but they also tell me about the friendships and fun they have at Bayberry. Imagine In a week they could play bingo, horse races, card games, movie nights ,drumming, karaoke, watch musical performers, dance with ballroom dancers , painting classes in which many art pieces are displayed in the salon , exercise classes , trivia circles , bayberry chorus , talent shows , holiday events so much to get talked about but hard to get in one post. But my very favorite event is hair day . It isn’t easy finding that place to make your loved ones feel at home , safe and entertained. , but I believe Bayberry is a place you will love. From the very moment you walk through the door you see the smiles from front desk ladies , to the smell of the scones hot out of the oven from our kitchen crew, and the homey feel of the clean environment from the maintenance and house keeping crew. Top it all off with the love and care the nursing team and resident aides give on a daily basis makes this place home. Come visit and see for yourself and come say hi when you do.

There is an active calendar of events where she can do as much or as little as she likes. The staff is wonderful. A special shout out to West, the maintenance manager. He goes above and beyond from repairs of all sizes to just being a dance partner at one of their many social events. It is comforting to know my mom is safe and happy in her new home. We started looking at assisted-living facilities over a year ago knowing that our 92 year-old mom would need a place sometime soon. Recently we had to make a decision & decided on Bayberry for a number of different reasons. 1.) We felt it was the right fit for our mom. 2) the cost was much more reasonable than others in our area. We moved our mom two weeks ago, and so far, she is adjusting really well! Bayberry has all the typical spaces and social activities to keep her mentally engaged and active, but the most impressive part is their staff. The first day, every different staff member that would be helping her in one way or another, whether it was the laundry service person, or the person who would be cleaning her room, or the person that would be showering her, came to meet her so she’d know them when they pop in. She felt so good about that! They are so friendly & caring! The nursing staff has been an amazing with evaluating her, then contacting me with their findings, and suggestions to help her where needed, whether it’s reminders to take her meds or suggestions for OT & PT. And the best part is the option to have a PCP right there ! Now, she never has to leave the building for a check up. Shaunna and the front desk crew are great for answering ANY questions you have about any topic. They are so knowledgeable. West, the maintenance man, is amazing because he is willing to do anything you want in her room, from hanging pictures or curtain rods, connecting your cable TV system, and everything in between ! Tara and the staff in the dining room are so caring, and even though our mother has only been there for two weeks, I can tell that the kitchen/dining staff already has a good idea of what she likes/dislikes and even portion size. She loves the food! So all in all, we are really happy with our decision to moved our mom into Bayberry. We already see a big change in her state of mind. She seems really, really happy.! Highly recommend!!!!

My Mom moved to Bayberry almost 7 years ago. It wasn't an easy decision for her to make, but it turned to be good one! She has flourished since she's been there. She has made new friends, enjoys arts and crafts, and exercise classes. She has no problem kicking me out the door if it's to close to an activity time!! There are activities for everyone. At times the weekend is a bit slow, but that is to be expected The people who work there are the best! They are friendly, seem to enjoy working there and willing to help out and answer any questions you may have! They make a point to get to know the residents and engage and talk with them. They are caring. They do all they can to keep our loved ones safe and healthy. They are on top of any symptoms that may be contagious. We are happy to be a part of the Bayberry community. Thank you all for everything you do for my mom and the rest of the residents!!

I will start with the positives and the reason I am giving two stars instead of one. There are many associates “ resident care aides, programming assistants, and front desk staff - who truly care about the residents and go above and beyond. Food is also excellent. My mother resided on the assisted living side for 3 years where she made many friends and enjoyed all the activities. The negative began when both the nursing director and the executive director blindsided me with previously uncommunicated information. They felt that my mother required additional care due to her progressing Alzheimer’s dementia. I was given a tour of the Avita memory care unit within the facility. I was stunned at the disparity in the environment that is provided. It was dark, dated and depressing. Understaffing and lack of stimulation in that unit was also evident. Management then tried to manipulate the terms of the contract to require 60 days’ notice vs. 30 days, which would obviously benefit them financially. It was not until I threatened legal action that they allowed 30 days. I am disgusted that an attempt was made to try to take advantage of both my mother and I during a stressful and emotional time.

Accepting residents not appropriate for the assisted living environment they portray. The residents do not have a voice and they are pretty much told our way or the highway.

I moved my Mom to Bayberry February 1st of this year 2023. She is 97 years old and a social butterfly. She has been so happy since she arrived at Bayberry and says she should have moved here sooner. I can’t say enough about the staff they are wonderful! So attentive, caring, loving. All of my Moms needs are met since she is legally blind and has had a bout with cancer which is in remission. I am her daughter and at total peace because I know she is in a safe and caring place. I highly recommend Bayberry to anyone and everyone.

The nursing staff has a fabulous team, who communicate in a timely manner with our nurse practitioners and our office staff. Bayberry at Emerald Court is the just most amazing place. My grandmother lived there for 7 years until the day she passed. It is truly five-star luxury, comfort and care. There are social activities day through night, both onsite and offsite. Being one mile away, I would stop in frequently. Many times, the staff would tell me that my grandmother was out on an excursion to the beach, a museum, a local farm, a coffee shop, restaurant, etc. When I was able to catch up with her, I would stay for hours playing games, doing artwork, watching live entertainment shows and toasting at Happy Hour. The staff are loving, attentive, fun and most importantly professional and highly competent. The food at Bayberry is also amazing “ the Executive Chef is award winning. And the parties and events! You cannot beat a party at Bayberry! If you are considering Assisted Living facilities for your loved ones, I highly recommend Bayberry.

As a nurse case manager, I have encouraged many families to tour Bayberry at Emerald Court when considering assisted living environments for their loved one. The convenient private location of this beautiful facility in Tewksbury is only one of the reasons I consider this facility a top choice when transitioning to assisted living. The facility itself is gorgeous, nicely decorated and meticulously maintained. The staff by far are top notch professionals led by strong, dedicated leadership. The executive director is always available and You’ll find that every staff member is engaging and kind. Shauna at the receptionist desk greets everyone with a great big welcoming smile. All staff provide friendly personalized attention to everyone they pass, it is clear they are passionate about what they do. Bayberry Tewksbury offers extensive and varied activities geared towards residents’ individual interests. The activity calendar is filled with creative and unique events thanks to Kim, the social director Kim who ensures there are programs and events to for everyone. I have attended several social events at Bayberry and can the food is always superb! Delectable food is exquisitely presented and is of the highest quality and always delicious! Chef Victor takes such pride in offering residents and visitors something to entice everyone! Without a doubt, Bayberry is at the top of my list of recommended local assisted living facilities. Overall care is superb!

One year ago, I moved my brother into assisted living at Bayberry. This was quite a change for someone who had lived at home with care giver support. The folks at Bayberry have been excellent at supporting the transition. Moving in was simple, meals are wonderful, activities are plentiful and the facility is nice and in a nice setting. It feels somewhat like taking an apartment on a cruise. My brother is a movie buff, and it wasn't long before he was a consultant to the "movie night" selections. He's attended a number of other activities and field trips. The transition and his quality of life are ideal. I cannot say enough about the care he receives! My brother has both physical and psychological issues that are beyond him. The nursing folks were immediately understanding, able to support him, friendly and patient with him. They communicate well with me, so I can be comfortable that he's doing well. Lastly, I have been very impressed with Bayberry management. Not only do they set a friendly, welcoming tone, but they have done amazingly well through the Covid pandemic. Rules and procedures were put in place early and maintained well. No spreader events, like many such facilities. My brother received his first vaccine recently, so it appears Bayberry will have managed this storm extremely well. It is quite likely that moving to Bayberry and Bayberry's management both improved and saved my brother's life.

Michelle made the process of applying and moving in so easy, and worked so hard to be sure Mom had everything she needed. And Donna, who runs the Memory Care program, is absolutely amazing with Mom and knows just what to do to make her happy and comfortable, and has made what was a difficult decision for our family into a very smooth transition. Mom was welcomed with open arms by all of the staff (Denise, Miguel, Angelina, to name just a few), and she truly enjoys everyone she has met. She has been more social and active in your program than she has in a very long time, and she says that the food is delicious! It is an amazing feeling knowing that Mom is safe, healthy and happy, and engaged in social activities with wonderful, caring people. We have dubbed Kim's Team the "Frustration Firemen" helping to reduce the stress of not being able to do directly as much as we would like for our Mom due to the Covid lock down. Although he is frustrated with the rules & restrictions of Covid he realizes that his health and safety are at the core of it. The campus and beautiful and clean, the food is delicious Chef Victor goes above and beyond for his residents not only with everyday meals but events for the residents. All staff is super friendly and welcoming.

I have to say up front that I have never been to the facility and we placed my dad elsewhere, hence the four stars. We chose a place in NH because that is closer for us to visit him. If we had decided to keep him in Mass, this was our first choice. The reviews were great, campus looks beautiful, but the really big thing for us was how wonderfully kind and helpful Michelle was and is. She really bent over backwards even though she knew that there was a chance that he would be going to NH. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT as you make your decisions.

My husband and I went to 10 different assisted living communities and found Bayberry as the perfect fit. We were looking for a place that would ensure my mother-in-law will be cared for as she adjusts to needing assisted living. Michelle (the director) is amazing! She helped us understand all the options for her care and also helped us through our emotions through this difficult process. Bayberry truly cares about the people who live in the community. Everyone on the team (from nursing, social activities, admin, etc) is friendly, kind and compassionate. Highly recommend!

Bayberry far exceeded our expectations in every possible way. Right from the initial contact with Michele our every need was taken care of. It was a very difficult move for my parents but they could not have found a more caring, compassionate and supportive environment. Nicole and her nursing staff provide excellent care and they are always available. The food is amazing and all the staff are professional and attentive. What impressed me most was not only the support given to my parents but the way the entire family is cared for (including the four legged family member!). My husband spent 8 months at Bayberry Memory Care. I knew from the moment I met Michelle MacEachern that I had found the right place. Michelle was kind, a great listener and more than accommodating. Then I met Pat Schoch, Executive Director. She was personable and very understanding that I wanted to be an active participant in my husband’s plan of care. When we moved my husband in to Bayberry we were welcomed by the most wonderful staff I have ever seen. The staff is very well trained and made us feel like family. Never did a day go by that I didn’t thank God for giving me this wonderful facility. I was able to visit every day and became friends with the nursing staff and the frontline caregivers. I was always welcomed by the reception staff. The Avita Director, Dawn Marie Lawrence, was available, most importantly to listen. All the nurses and management had their doors open, always with a pleasant greeting. I have no doubt at all, Bayberry at Emerald Court is an exceptional home away from home. Jean Seero

We're never prepared to navigate the world of senior care when we are suddenly faced with this crisis. The staff at Bayberry is amazing!!! From the admissions, to nursing, the attendants, food servers and activities staff, theses people are dedicate and upbeat. They totally devote themselves to learning the needs and special characteristics of each resident. The facility itself is beautiful, very modern, clean, well maintained. The combination of devoted staff and a beautiful facility makes it so enjoyable to live in and to visit that this an excellent choice!

I toured with a friend for her Mom in January. Beautiful Place! Very Clean! The employees were really nice, and the residents were happy and smiling. The residents were having a happy hour, looked fun. Michelle showed us around. She was great! Very knowledgeable, and really listened to my friend. She was really compassionate. In the end, my friend's Mom decided to stay in North Carolina with her son. But I will definitely keep this place in mind and highly recommend Bayberry.

Bayberry at Emerald Court is truly a one of a kind community for older adults both inside and out. From the wonderful features like the library and Country Kitchen and attention to detail within the building, to the beautifully landscaped gardens and walking paths, it is really a place where residents feel a strong sense of community and pride. The chef prepares really outstanding delicious and nutritious meals for every dietary preference and need. The staff are exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and get to know every resident in order to provide personalized care and promote independence, helping each individual to maintain strength and health. There are numerous wellness and fitness programs every day, including meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, dancing, Zumba, fitness, and both low and high impact exercise classes. The positive atmosphere promotes an environment of well being that residents and their visitors genuinely enjoy. Highly recommend!!!!

My grandfather has lived at several local Assisted Living Facilities and Bayberry is far superior to the others. You can tell it is a place where the employees are not only well trained, but they also love their jobs. We visit my grandfather frequently and notice many of the personal touches that Bayberry has to offer. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They do whatever they can to make him feel at home. The facility is also very clean. From the dining area, to the common rooms, to the maintenance staff who takes care of my grandfathers room. I also want to name a few employees who in my opinion go above and beyond. If you move your loved one to Bayberry, I hope you have the pleasure of working with: Cathie, Diane, Erin, Shauna, Glenn, Jennie just to name a few!

My siblings and I were very apprehensive about moving our father to an Assisted Living Facility. He was "failure to thrive" living on his own and we needed a next step. We went to many care facilities, had interviews and tours. There were a few facilities that were more centrally located to my siblings and I, but our interviews and tours left us feeling uncomfortable and unsatisfied. We stopped the process of looking for a care facility and tried to manage him at his home. That proved too difficult. Bayberry understood all of that and were very understanding as we went through this process of exploring what was best for him. He has now been at Bayberry for close to a year. I can not say enough good things about the staff and activities (however, my father does very few of them per his choice). The nursing staff, administration, front desk, CNA's are all fantastic and amazing. They provide plenty of family activities too. Most importantly my fiercely independent father is very happy, which makes all the difference in the world!
