I visited the The Residence at Freeman Lake, after touring a few facilities last week to take an unplanned tour. I was greeted by the Executive Director, Caitlyn, who was professional, knowledgeable and so caring. Even though I had not scheduled a tour she and the Business Office Manager , Michelle took their time to show me the beautiful, warm, welcoming facility! They introduced me to many staff members whom were so pleasant and as professional as these two young women. I can’t remember all the names but Joao, James, Will and even the maintenance director greeted me so warmly. I am not ready for assisted living at this time but when I am, this is the place I want to be. Thank you again to everyone I met. Just to add, I did arrive at lunch time and I looked at the menu and it was amazing!

Anni was our guide in finding the right fit for Mom & Dad and was such a great support for us and our parents at a difficult time. Caitlynn and her support team have been a great source of comfort for both mom and dad and we feel lucky to have her overseeing there care plans! Michelle has overseen our billing and is always so easy to work with whenever we have questions. My parents rave about the food and are happy that they are flexible with their needs. Lunchtime is the best meal of the day according to my mom, but breakfast is my dad‘s favorite. Win win!! I highly recommend you consider Residence At Freeman Lake! Even before I walked into The Residence, the walkway and foyer were so welcoming, adorned with winter foliage and tasteful, shimmering decorations…like a winter wonderland. I found that when I entered, I was immediately greeted with 4 smiles in under a minute and a half. The beautiful cathedral ceiling lobby is a hub for gathering & conversation. A warm fire place crackled in the far corner near a beautiful bar. I enjoyed seeing residents enjoying each other’s company and beverages by the fire. I came to do a presentation for the residents and left several hours later with such a feeling of comfort and happiness. While I was setting up my presentation, which was across from the dining room, I couldn’t help but notice the warm atmosphere of the dining area. In so many cultures, food is LOVE. The aromas of the noon time meal and the smiles on the people serving the food were noticeable. It is evident that The Residence takes great pride in the food they prepare & serve to the people who reside here. To feed someone is to love someone -I truly believe- and this made me smile as I was quietly setting up my presentation. I got to meet many of the residents who appeared happy and well loved. I noticed how the nursing and activity staff doted on them, making sure every experience was a meaningful one. Even if it was “just” holding a hand for extended period of time. My mom’s experience in memory care at the Residence at Freeman Lake was extremely negative. Her residency began in July 2022 and ended in July 2024. From October 2023, when the present team took over, until she left in July 2024, things went from bad to worse. My mom’s level of care was abysmal—compassion, engagement, and activities were non-existent, making for an upsetting and frustrating experience for my mom and our family. Here’s what my mom experienced: Mom was consistently neglected. She was not cued on changing clothes or showering for 22 days. Even after addressing this with the team, the neglect continued. There were days that the RCAs did not show up in the morning or at bedtime. Some days their presence was obsolete. Mom was on her own. There was only one RCA—Madhina—that was kind to my mom and treated her with compassion and respect. Unfortunately, Madhina was not always scheduled to care for mom. Mom did not receive her meds at the appropriate times and there were times she did not receive them at all. Mom had fallen out of bed this past June and was on the floor for over 2 hours. She managed to get herself up. Hourly checks were not taking place or mom would not have been on the floor for over 2 hours. And when the RCA did come into mom's room that morning, she ignored her, not saying so much as a good morning. Mom’s RCAs lacked the training, and compassion, needed to interact and care for her. Here’s more on the team: The team, consisting of the executive director, memory care director, reflections director, and senior regional directors, offered resolutions but did not follow through. The memory care and reflections directors’ level of knowledge was poor. All three lacked support, empathy, and professionalism. Emails and phone calls were not returned in a timely manner or even returned at all. We had two huge meetings with the Ombudsman present and nothing was done to prevent the ongoing lack of care, to ensure activities were taking place, and to address the lack of support from the team. The team admitted to dropping the ball on mom’s care and their lack of activities but did not take the appropriate steps to resolve these issues. The team made a huge effort to turn mom’s roommate’s family against us on the authorized security camera we had placed in mom’s side of the room following our suspicion that she wasn’t being cared for. The team’s focus was on the camera—which was authorized by the executive director and there was also a sign indicating a camera by the door. They tried everything in their power to use this against us when all we wanted to do was monitor our mom—and rightfully so. My mom should never have been subjected to this kind of treatment and lack of care. At Freeman, it was all about the money, not my mom’s care and well-being. It seems to me and worth noting that a significant number of the positive reviews for Freeman appear to come from individuals who are current or former employees. Mom is finally receiving the care, support, and compassion that she deserves. She is thriving at her new residence. I sincerely hope that this review saves future families the heartache of discovering their loved one is not getting the care they deserve.

When my 91 year old mother (now 92) arrived at the Residence from rehab in April 2023, she was weak and had to be transport in a wheelchair to meals, etc. Now she is involved in activities at the Residence, goes shopping, and using her walker she easily walks to meals and other areas of the Residence. We have just chosen the Residence for our Mom. We walked in the building and people were gathered by the fireplace singing and dancing having cocktails. A harp player, and live singing. I work in the health care community and have visits to this facility frequently. I can’t say enough about the facility and the staff. To start , the building is well kept and maintained. The staff pays great attention to detail when it comes to the residents care and needs. The patients are always happy and well cared for . There are always activities and engagements for the residents in this community they do a great job at keeping residents busy ! Caitlynn on the memory care unit is especially great! Her interaction and care for the residence is top tier. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for an assisted living !
