Reviews Atria Woodbriar Place
February 2026
I spent 9 weeks at Atria (Sept-Oct 2025). I left because the Dietary Dept. is a joke. Nutritionally inadequate meals and running out of food are daily occurrences. The local management gives lip-service when problems are brought to their attention but despite placating words nothing changes. A high proportion of the residents in "assisted living" have significant mental/memory issues and should probably be in the "memory care". The grounds and building are superb--the architects did an A+ job. The local management is top heavy and often not qualified for their positions. The "modus operandi" is cut amenities (availability of transportation on weekends, table cloths in the dining room, snack bar open 5 days per week rather than 7days per week) but continue to increase the fees for residency. Atria was one state of the art for assisted living but no more.

When I started on my search for a retirement community (two years ago) to spend my remaining years, two individuals (Eric Terceiro and Carol Taylor) provided me with extraordinary help and support to make my move to Atria possible, and since i have been here, Michael Scarpelline has always been there to help me with any issues I have had, So both my journey to, and my time here at Atria have been positive, and exciting. So from a personal perspective, I feel that Atria in Falmouth is an outstanding place for anyone in their senior years looking for an outstanding retirement facility, located in an outstanding location, with excellent facilities and staff, and populated with interesting residents, at a reasonable cost.

My mom moved to Atria in June of 2024 and to say she was nervous and hesitant is an understatement. It took some time for her to adjust to her new surroundings and routines but Atria turned out to be the best decision ever. My mom has made friends and many acquaintances and she genuinely loves the staff. As her daughter, this gives me confidence to know she is in good hands which makes me so happy.

One of the best facilities Ive ever been inside! By far the best assisted living facility on Cape Cod! Caring and compassionate staff, beautiful pondside views, delicious restaurant quality food, and lots of community activities to engage the residents.

I am a private care manager with several patients residing at Atria Woodbriar Park. I can honestly say this is one of the nicest places for senior living that I have been inside. They have a great memory care unit for residents dealing with dementia and Alzheimers as well. The staff is friendly and helpful, the building is clean and sanitary, they are very cautious with COVID-19 regulations to keep everyone in their community safe, and there is a lot for the residents to get involved with on a daily basis. Out of the many patients for whom Ive provided private care in the past, the patients who reside at the Atria Woodbriar Park seem to do extremely well. Id highly recommend this place for anyone in search of a beautiful and safe home for an elderly loved one.

My mother has lived here for a couple of years now, and while things have definitely changed over the past year, I have to say how impressed I am with the caution, care and service Atria has provided to its residents through such a difficult time. Immediately in 2020, they locked down at the first hint of the horrible virus news. As a result, you will probably find no other resident-nursing home that has the outstanding record of keeping the Coronavirus at bay. I live on the opposite side of the country from my mother and it has been a difficult past year since I have been unable to see her. But, I am so thankful for the wonderful care she has received while there at Atria. If I have any issue, I can always contact someone there in person and get help with whatever I need. I am looking forward to visiting soon and expressing my thanks in person the the superb staff who has remained and are like family to many of us. Kudos to Atria!!

Safety and care. My wife has been at Atria for the last 17 months. My main concern is safety and care. The COVID-19 virus has raised in major challenge for everyone. Atria Woodbriar park made major changes in early March to keep everyone safe. The early changes in the protocol provided the Safer environment for the residents and staff. My wife receives multiple nurse checks daily with temperature checks. The residence and the staff are tested weekly for the. Virus. My wife has tested negative on every single test. I have also received an 11 page assessment report with my own copy on my wifes present status. Because of Atrias early and successful actions. I believe they will continue to make adjustments as the situation changes with keeping everyone safe. In the fall 2019 I was very happy with the activities the pool the ability to visit. I believe they will go back to that standard as soon as it is safe. The caregivers and nurses have done an outstanding during this difficult time. They know the people the care for. Harry

Indeed, these have been challenging times - for all of us - but I think its fair to say that assisted living communities have been hit particularly hard. Atria Woodbriar Park in Falmouth, MA, has been exemplary in keeping its residents safe and secure (including my mother) due to the tireless efforts of the Atria management and staff. Id like to give a shout-out to one in particular - Jim Catton. He has been a hero during this entire pandemic and I dont want it to go unsung. Jim has been in the trenches for months, wearing multiple hats and frankly, I dont know how the man is still standing. He leads with kindness and compassion and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty. Jim is unfailingly responsive to our emails and phone messages, answering any questions or concerns we may have, when Im quite certain he has more urgent things to attend to. In these unprecedented times, you hope for a leader who is effective in their job and unflappable. To be able to dig in and do all that is necessary and more, with care and even a smile, is exceptional. This is who Jim is. Without exception. Many people have found some silver linings within this pandemic. Jim has been one of those for my family and we are so thankful for him and the expertise and kindness he brings in good times and those that are more challenging. How fortunate is Atria Park and its residents to have such a caring and valuable Assistant Executive Director as part of the management team. Daren Marvin

Recently I wrote to Atria Woodbriar management to sing the praises of two employees who have been instrumental in helping my mother acclimate to living in the memory care unit at Atria Woodbriar. Both employees have gone above and beyond multiple times to resolve issues and ensure the best possible care for my mother. My mother moved in before Thanksgiving. Its been difficult for our family, especially my father, because we have not been able to visit in person since she was admitted. I know there are many families in the same situation and the Atria Woodbriar staff has been working hard to facilitate FaceTime calls for so many. One of the staff has been extremely responsive and personally involved in setting up those calls. I can see while talking with my mom, that she has developed a warm friendship with this staff member. It is clear that the staff cares deeply for the residents. The Resident Services Director (RSD) has been extremely professional since day one. I had some difficulty communicating with my mothers primary care physician when my mom was first admitted. The RSD was a very effective intermediary and resolved a meds list issue. We have since moved my mother to another practice and I am very pleased with how well the RSD coordinates care with her, hospital case managers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacy and Atria staff. Her dedication is impressive and greatly appreciated. I am very happy we decided to trust Atria with my mothers care. Maureen Underhill

super hard workers with compassion and professionalism in this most difficult of times
January 2021
My mom lived at Atria Woodbriar Park for 6 months. Pre-covid, there were varied activities and entertainment daily. The staff (nursing, cafeteria, activities and maintenance) were all caring and supportive, and made great effort to ensure my moms needs were met. The Assistant Executive Director consistently went above and beyond, for which I am forever grateful. Its the caring hearts of the people who work at Atria that make it a home.

We couldnt be happier with Atria and its staff our mother has been treated very well . Jim cantton has been wonderful to work with.
September 2020
Very impressed with how they have navigated this Covid crisis and managed to keep residents safe and healthy. The aides who come in throughout the day serving meals, bringing snacks and taking temps are wonderful! Cant speak highly enough about how friendly and helpful they are and they have been a lifeline for my mom in terms of socialization during this long period of isolation.

My husband had three cousins, sisters aged 85, 89 and 91 four years ago. They went together to Atria in summer of 2016. They loved the beautiful people who care for those at Atria. They enjoyed so many activities, classes and such an inspirational and life affirming atmosphere at Atria. I cannot speak highly enough of you all. I have had occasion to witness their meticulous care during this horrid stress of covid ... serving, helping and inspiring each person who lives sheltering and as safely and warmly as possible. Thank God for them. Linda Milano MacLeod

I can't see enough about this campus. The caring attitude of everyone from the front-desk greeter to the restaurant waiter to the nurse and aides, it's all so impressive. And that doesn't even speak to the physical campus. The restaurant sources its fish from a store in town, known for sourcing locally. The spa and salon, the movie theater. I could go on. We feel so blessed to have our mother here.

When I flew from my home in California to spend a week with my mother (9 days thanks to the blizzard) she'd been living at Woodbriar Place for a month. I was apprehensive about her settling in because she is so independent and shy and stubborn and had been living in the tropics for 37 years. We knew she never ate properly and hoped having three places to choose from for a meal would make it easier to grab a bite when she wanted. First, I wish to acknowledge Melissa Bielinski for truly engaging life with her diverse and interesting programs and for integrating the community with the residents. And to compliment Donna Sickler for holding Town Meetings, understanding what it takes to be a great leader. But this review is dedicated to THE FOOD, and everything associated with it, because Mother is eating. She hustled me out the door the morning I arrived, not to miss breakfast. Mother likes the cafe. "It's the only place that serves HOT coffee," she whispered one afternoon. But no wonder: Joann Filkins, "mother hen" of the cafe also keeps hot cereal for my late-arriving Mother and it is so appreciated. She never asked, Joann just made sure it was always there for her. Joann is a sharp, tender-spirited, smiling woman, who knows each of her peeps' names and preferences. But then, so does the entire Dining Room Staff: Shout out to Michelle, (whom Mother says winds that clock to make it run perfectly), Heidi, Marion, Lindsey who, at residents' requests, arranges for us to meet her sweet 3 yr. old son and the Sous Chef!, and others whose names I apologize for not remembering. Even THE CHEF comes out to chat about local produce and sea food, visiting random tables. So in my 9 days I gained a solid 4 lbs trying to encourage my mother to eat. We split Lava Cake, Lavendar Creme Brulée and Bread Pudding. Not to mention the roasted chicken and those mashed potatoes and scallops and perfect asparagus and outstanding fish and chips. I walked my dog around the Woodbridge Campus at least 3 times a day. No matter where I was in the facility, I observed people who love their work and who work hard. Interaction with residents always attentive, upbeat, humor-filled, patient, respectful. Residents are comfortable going about their lives, or engaging because the beautiful, dignified atmosphere seems to neutralize shyness and encourage conversation. The complete experience was magnificent, every staff member sincere and attentive including Housekeeping and Maintenance. They all care. Mother fits perfectly into her new apartment and we all feel safe with her being there. This detail-dependent campus runs like a fine timepiece. Can't separate the minute hand from the numerals.

Having visited this facility many times, I find myself enchanted with the Staff (many of whom I've known for years) and the facility itself. Residents (again, many of whom I know) are very comfortable and very pleased that they decided upon Atria Woodbriar

As a family member of a resident, I would like to sincerely compliment Meredith McGillicuddy at the front desk. Meredith is ALWAYS friendly and more than helpful. She doesn't hesitate to help my Mother when she calls.. Meredith is a definite asset to the Atria team! Thank you, Meredith!! I would also like to thank Melissa Carlino....Melissa not only does her "job" to perfection, but takes it a step further. When my Mother wasn't feeling well, Melissa stopped in--AFTER she was off duty-- to see how my Mother was and if she could do anything to help her!! This is certainly a caring employee and a asset to the Atria team!! Thank you, Melissa!!
May 2014
My Mom has been living at Atria since late July. I would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of her. I would like to especially thank Rebecca and Jeramie. Rebecca is a joy and made Mom's transition as easy as it could be. Jeramie does a great job caring for Mom and they have a nice relationship. All of the staff that I've encountered have been great and I feel like Mom has a caring community around her. She loves the pool!

Marie Baker is the Mommy anyone would want to have caring for them. She is thoughtful and precise, while gently urging residents to do what they can do. She might even hum a lullaby in the evening.
May 2014
Having my dad at the Atria Woodbriar has been a positive experience. The staff, the other residence and of course the apartments and facility are wonderful. The building is run professionally and it gives me peace of mind to have my dad there. One person in particular I would like to thank is Ellen Dolan at the front desk. The staff in general is great but Ellen and her positive energy really stands out for me, having her at the front entrance is great for everyone. Ellen is pleasant, has the answer or finds out the answers to all your questions no matter how detailed, not to mention she keeps you laughing! It makes me feel so much better knowing my dad is by such nice people like Ellen.
