My mother spent about a year and a half in the memory care unit here, and it made an enormous difference in her quality of life. All the staff were wonderful — one manager even came to visit her twice during her final days in a hospital, which meant more to our family than words can say. The staff treated residents like family, and there was always something to celebrate, whether it was a resident’s birthday or a staff baby shower. She loved the snacks, games, the cozy dining room, movie afternoons, and live music. She was so proud of her arts and crafts creations, which were displayed throughout the unit — it gave her a real sense of accomplishment. The space itself was bright and safe, and the whole atmosphere was one of joy rather than just care. What meant the most to us was watching her anxiety melt away. She felt safe, engaged, and still had a sense of autonomy, which I know mattered to her. I’m deeply grateful to the caregivers who gave her that peace in her final chapter, and I recommend this facility without hesitation to anyone looking for memory care for a loved one.

I have never visited river mills although I went to McKinstry's farm stand yesterday and as I pulled in I saw the van which meant an outing. As a certified occupational therapist this made me so happy. The staff was amazing very compassionate and patient…. It was a hot day. The smiles on the residents face priceless. Shout out to all at river mills for engaging in the quality of life for these residents

Rivermill is awesome!! My mom has only been here for a few weeks but I know we made the right choice to place my mom in the memory unit at rivermill. All of the staff have helped make my mom's transition as smooth as possible. Special shout out to Donna for answering all of my questions and Iris for going the extra mile to take care of my mom.

My mother moved in late December 2024. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is she seems to be getting decent care. I worked the contract with Alex and was provided terms that I could work into my mother’s budget. On Day 1 of her stay they increased the rate 25% without even notifying me. $101,000 per year!! A month later they claimed the increase was due to her requiring additional services. I am not sure how they can justify this as they interviewed my mother while she was at a rehabilitation facility prior to coming to River Mills. They also had the assessments from the rehabilitation facility. They had all the information to know what services she needs. Per the CONTRACT they are to provide a 30 day notice of an increase in price/service. They failed to do this. BREACH. To this day I have not been able to get the account credited. Pursuant to them breaching the contract I put in my termination. Now the executive director is threatening to charge her an additional 2 months of rent. This is unethical and immoral to treat elderly like this. This is stealing!! Find a facility that treats your loved ones with respect!

After much searching the decision to place a loved one at River Mills was a wise decision. The director is hands on, the staff is caring and very helpful. The residents are a wonderful mix of people. Pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere.

I came to River Mills in May of 2023 and I absolutely love it. I feel safe. The staff are wonderful. The Executive Director Jaime is wonderful she has helped me a lot. It is like one big happy family living here.

My mother lives at River Mills. We love the care she receives. The director team and staff is always welcoming and extremely reachable. She receives great care and we know she is safe. Doesn't matter what day of the week or time of day we know we can always reach the Executive Director, Jaime. Alex made everything smooth to help her transition in. I would highly recommend the community to anyone who is looking for a loving and safe environment for their parent.

My Sister-in-law, has been living at River Mills for a year and a half. She absolutely loves it there. My wife and I are impressed with the knowledgeable and caring staff. The grounds, rooms and amenities are amazing. Looks like a 4 star hotel. When she first started living there the Director in charge was not effective. The new Director, Jaime, is amazing. She gives 120% of herself to the residents. You can tell she truly cares about the resident’s comfort, care and happiness. Alex also made all the intake documentation seamless and is always helpful too. I highly recommend River Mills Assisted Living to any family looking to place a family member there.

My MIL has been a resident in the memory care side, Connections, since June. We were truly blessed to find River Mills. She was confined at her old home due to wandering. Now she socializes, exercises and works on little projects. She is always clean and well dressed. And takes her meds as directed! Staff interaction has been great. They chose their care "team" well and we always leave feeling she is living her best life at River Mills.

My father has been a resident in the memory unit for only 9 days and in that time has not received 6/18 meds times, and a pill was found on his floor. Documentation from staff has been inaccurate to incomplete. A deep clean of the room was not done prior to my father moving into the room, including the previous resident’s items being left in the closets and bathroom. I completed the deep clean of the room myself. All of this has been negligent and inexcusable. Some staff have been polite, friendly, and genuinely concerned while others have presented with arrogance and indifference toward valid complaints, and others obviously disgruntled employees. Activities have not been consistently engaging and often times the residents are left alone in the main hall without any stimulation or supervision. A resident needn’t be brought out of the comfort of their room to participate in activities they would not have ever found interesting. Group Pool noodle exercise class lead with a condescending attitude from a staff member is not something most would find enjoyable. I’ve been there most days and tonight was my 3rd time going to visit at night and there was only 1 staff member doing all of the work. I was let in by another resident each time at night because no staff responded to the call box or intercom. We’re told not to bring a tv so our father to acclamate and interacts with his neighbors. Yet I’ve observed little facilitation by the staff to have residents interact. Putting people in a space with coloring books or to watch ‘ I Love Lucy’ repeatedly isn’t what is engaging for many individuals. Dramatic readings are not of interest and often not understood by those who have their language centers affected by dementia. Why should my father acclimate himself to this lack of stimulation instead finding comfort, solice, and peace during his remaining time? How many other residents are experiencing similar mistreatment? How much money is being taken in while at least one resident is being treated with such disrespect? Right now our family has to go in to ensure meds are distributed properly in order to keep our father safe and healthy. What will be done to rectify the current situation ? How can we trust this facility any further ?

My mom was at Rivermill for 4 years. The facility is nice, and has lots of room for all the residents. My mom was in memory care and the best part of memory care is Donna the director. She is compassionate, kind and a great director. We hated to move our mom out of Rivermill but the medical staff at Rivermill has limitation due to licensing. My mom is now in an Assisted living facility that has the licensing to crush meds and do other nursing, that my mom needs and Rivermill could not do.

After looking for the perfect facility River Mills was the great fit for a friend that could no longer care for herself, living alone. The team there truly cares about their residents, nurses, RCA's, Directors and Executive Director. There's open line of communication, working together to ensure the resident is taken care of ensuring they are happy and safe!

We had to make the difficult decision to put my mother in a facility. When we saw Rivermills we were highly impressed. The facility is beautifully maintained and staffed with some wonderfully compassionate people. It took my mother a bit of time to get used to the facility but she is finally more comfortable. She is in the memory care unit. We visit often and take her out occassionally. I highly recommend this facility. Just go and visit it and you will be as impressed as we were.

This is the third assisted living facility my mother has been in this year and it is the ONLY one where we felt like they actually cared about her as a human being. They called me the day after we moved her in to let me know how she was doing, which no facility had ever done. Everyone from management down to the staff treats her with respect and compassion, and they encourage me to call or come by any time, which I do. They have been able to convince her to bathe and change her clothes regularly, which she was not doing at the other facilities. They even sent her flowers welcoming her to River Mills. When I have questions or concerns, they address them timely and they keep me updated with any concerns they have. My mother has become friendly with several of the other residents and is the most content and happy I have seen her in a long time. I highly recommend River Mills and am so thankful we found it!

My grandfather has been a resident here for 2 years and pretty much all we have heard is bad things. They don't feed the residents good quality food, if someone hurts themselves you can't find the nurse
