The journey began in 2023 to find a place for my mother and after visiting each assisted-living facility in the Lake Charles area, our last facility to visit was Sage Oak. I had my mind made up within just a few minutes of being there that this would be the absolute best place for my mother and she agreed as well. Every employee at this facility from the administrative staff, activities director, maintenance guys, nurses, the personal chefs in each house and the caregivers are some of the best in the industry. They truly care about each residents wellbeing and their needs. My family and I can never thank the staff enough for providing excellent care for my mother. Sage Oak has truly been a blessing to my family and I highly recommend anyone looking for an assisted living facility for their loved one.... DO NOT look at other facilities....Sage Oak in Lake Charles is undoubtably the best place and by far exceeded all of my expectations.

When I had to place my Mother in assisted living, my priority was to choose a facility that had amenities which met all her needs and requests. My choice didn't consider my convenience. Instead, my choice was what was best for her! I never doubted my choice for her while she was at Sage Oak for over 2 1/2 years. My Dad has been a resident of Sage Oak for 4 months. It was a hard decision moving him out of his home but choosing Sage Oak was definitely the right decision. The nurses truly care about their patients. They are kind and treat my Dad like he is part of their family. The food is exceptional and there is always something scrumptious in the oven. My Dad has become quite the foodie. I am so thankful we choose Sage Oak for our Dad's care.

I am a healthcare vendor that travels and visits many assisted living homes all over the south. I am blown away at the attention to detail that Sage Oak provides. Upon visiting I notice the meticulous landscaping and manicured lawns. As I approach the main building I began to notice the perfect and well thought out layout. But nothing could prepare me for what I witnessed when I walked in! The modern yet homey feel, the smiling faces, and aromas of food being prepared by professional chefs. It didn't stop there. As I took everything in, I noticed that every resident in the main dining area were engaged. They were being talked to, fed, or tended to. Each employee appeared to truly love their job as well. Especially a young aid named Jessie. She was truly a ray of light and such an asset to the Sage Oak team. Hands down the best boutique home in Louisiana!

I my family gives SageOak the highest of recommendation. The care they provided was more than we could have even wished for. My father was at an advanced stage of Dementia when he arrived at Sageoak and also had additional special needs as he was a big man and could not walk. We moved my father from another private nursing home to Sageoak hoping to get better care and they exceeded our expectations. The entire staff was sweet and kind to my father, even in his most difficult moments. It truly takes special people to provide this kind of care and that is exactly what Sageoak has, a staff of exceptionally caring people. They went the extra mile to make sure my dad was out of bed and socializing with the other residents, giving him the dignity of life, something he never experienced at the prior facility. While his disease ultimately took his life, he had the best last days thanks to the staff at Sageoak. Their compassion for him and for my family during his last days was truly God sent!

My Sister Billie is a new resident at Sage Oak. I try to visit everyday...I am so impressed with this Assistant Living Facilities...staff is so pleasant and I have watched them interact with other residents...they seem to really care for the residents...my Sister keeps bragging about her really good 3-meals a day...the house where she lives is so clean and smells so good and I always tell the ladies that prepare the meals that before I enter the building I smell the food just like when I would visit my Mom at her house...Bridget is extremely friendly and nice to all the residents and she has such wonderful activities for the residents...I can't speak enough good things about this place.. The layout of Sage Oak is simply remarkable, especially for those in need of memory care. The design not only caters to the physical needs of the residents but also fosters a sense of familiarity and comfort, making every visit a heartwarming experience. Walking through each house, one can't help but notice the genuine happiness radiating from the residents. It's evident that they feel right at home, surrounded by a supportive community that understands and respects their individual needs. But what truly sets Sage Oak apart is its exceptional staff. They go above and beyond to ensure that every resident feels valued and cherished, treating them with the same love and care as they would their own family. It's reassuring to know that there is such a place that exists in Lake Charles. Having gone through the struggles of losing a loved one to Dementia in 2019. We searched for a place, specifically catering to her needs but was very difficult to find locally. In conclusion, Sage Oak Assisted Living Facility is more than just a place of residence for the elderly; it's a sanctuary of comfort, care, and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Sage Oak to anyone in search of a nurturing environment for their loved ones.

Just an update to buy previous review last year. It has been a year since my mom came to live at Sage Oak. As I sit and reflect on the past year, I am so very thankful that Mary Hebert was who met with me that day. I was a hot mess, I had been to two other places and felt defeated. How could I put my mom in Assisted living after what I had seen. Oh, they were nice enough places but I couldn't imagine mom living there. The long hallways, the smell, the dreariness. I went to Sage Oak and met with Mary. She handed me a box of kleenex and two pieces of Dove chocolates! Her first question was, tell me about your mom. Mom was her main focus for the next hour. We took a tour and I instantly fell in love with the place. SHE sold me on Sage Oak because her first question wasn't , tell me your what your budget is, this is the cost, and this is all the add ons. How does that fit your budget? Every other place I had been, it was about money and they didn't ask about my momma. Mary made Sage Oak all about mom. And yes, money did come up in our conversation BUT, it was NOT the main thing. So we moved in in March 2023. Mom still loves it there and so do I.. It was definitely a God thing and I thank Him daily for opening the doors and finding the perfect place for mom. I love Sage Oak. When mom needed 24hr supervision I endured the task of finding her a new home. None compared or even came close to Sage Oak. I know when I took the first tour with Mary that this is it!! When you walk into a faciclity and smell food cooking...it smelled like home. The Chef greeted us then all the ladies who would care for mom greeted us. Mom loved it when she saw it and has since living there coined the phrase..."if ya need a place to be..THIS is the place to be". It feels like home when I walk in the front door to visit. I love that Sage Oak has made.it possible for me to be moms daughter again and not the caregiver. I could go on for ever about the food..the staff..the 16 resident home concept but I wont. The concept of a home like environment is perfect and truly makes it feels like a home and not a faculty. I just believe we are where God wants us to be because He led us to this place and everything just fell into place for Mom.

My mom always told me, "... please do not throw me away and put me in a home..." All of my life, I knew that one day I would have to take care of my parents when they would not be able. After my dad passed away in 2020, I stepped in to help my mom adjust to being alone. They were married 63 years and she only knew life with him. After several years of good health and adjusting well, mom had a set back that landed her in ICU for a week and then rehab to strengthen her back to her original health. After being discharged from the hospital rehab, the doctor strongly encouraged her not to live alone. Being the only child and always hearing the words of "do not throw me away", the task at hand would be a challenge. After seeking in-home sitters and her not wanting to live with me, I was at a dead end. The only thought I had was not to "throw her away". After talking with mom, we decided to try an assisted living as a transition from the hospital until she could go home. I had 2 days to find, tour, and move mom in. After I consulted with the hospital social worker and numerous friends and family, I started calling around to tour the facilities in town. Being a pharmacist, I know the medication side, but as a daughter to find a temporary home for mom was an unknown, scary adventure. After visiting other assisted living facilities, and not wanting to just settle, I went to Sage Oak to tour one more place. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was the place I wanted to care for my mom. At first mom was hesitant about moving in, but now she is thriving and smiling a smile I have not seen since before my dad passed. Mom is back! The Sage Oak's team is incredible, and the care and new friendships she has made have far exceeded any and every expectation. The fear of mom asking to go home, has turned into her choosing to stay. The thought of "do not throw me away" is no longer a thought, and she is happy and no longer wants to move home. I share this story in hopes that it will help at least one person. Loved ones deserve to be taken care of and it is ok to agree to assisted living. Assisted living, especially Boutique style assisted living, is not "throwing you away", it's actually, coming home. We recently had my mom at another very large, assisted living community, and the care she received was subpar. In the 5 months since our decision the compassionate staff at Sage Oak has confirmed our decision was the correct one. All of the staff are kind, compassionate, and caring. The staff is not there for a paycheck but a calling. The physical structure is great but the staff definitely sets Sage Oak apart. If you want the best for your loved one Sage Oak is it.

It has been about a year since I last reviewed Sage Oak. My husband is still there and I wanted to update my review to give them five-stars. Over this past year there have been so many additions, improvements and I just couldn't be happier overall. As I mentioned in my original review - my husband has been in two other assisted living facilities in this area over the years and I could not be more pleased with Sage Oak! If my husband cannot be home with me full-time, I would not want him anywhere else than Sage Oak. My husband is currently a resident here after spending time in two different facilities as well as being home during Covid and Hurricane Laura & Delta. Deciding to bring him back into an assisted living facility was once again one of the hardest things I've had to do. I struggled for months on what to do but I knew that I had to still work full time and it was taking its toll on me and our relationship. Thanks to Sage Oak I was able to get back to myself and start being a wife again for my husband. I enjoy our time we spend now and everyone around me says I am even looking healthier. I feel good again and Sage Oak offers a great facility for the area. I would recommend it and look forward to their growth in the community.

We absolutely loved Sage Oak and their staff. My father as well as all family members that came to visit were made to feel at home, welcomed with smiles and hugs and were always asked if anything was needed. My father's stay here was not long, but he was able to enjoy his last days at this facility. He made friends, loved the food and going outside for rides in his motorized wheelchair. Although he is no longer with us, Sage Oak and their staff will always hold a special place in our hearts. I plan to go visit whenever I have the chance.

The staff at Sage Oak are Amazing! We moved my dear Aunt in 2 weeks ago, I can honestly say everything promised has been been done. I work closely with Sage Oak's top notch staff as well as their adorable residents. Bridget, the activity director, does an impeccable job loading the weeks up with fun things to do in each house. The residents are always so happy and it gives them some social time with friends. Mary, the Liaison, knows the facility inside and out and has geriatric knowledge like no other. She's a great wealth of information. Bryan, the administrator, is a great leader and truly cares about the residents. He is involved with all processes and runs a smooth seamless facility in all aspects. The unique structure of Sage Oak is like no other facility around. There is more of a one and one care plan in place for each house. It works. Ashlee, the DON, is an advocate for the care of each resident and goes above and beyond for not only the residents but their families as well. Highly recommend!! Beautiful facility and top notch care!! 

Sage Oak is truly superior to all other assisted living/ memory care facilities in the Lake Charles area. Prior to Sage Oak we placed our love one in a nearby facility that has wonderful reputation, but over time we realized that there was a huge disconnect between their marketing and their operations. We did lots of research on other facilities in our area only to find similar results until we found Sage Oak. They are owned and operated by people who treat your loved one with love, care, compassion, and dignity. Sage Oak's team care for their residents the same way they would except their loved ones to be cared for and it shows from the maintenance workers to the amazing chefs! They are truly a family and have set up each house to support this task not only for their residents but for their family members. Our only regret is waiting so long to move our loved one to Sage Oak!

I didn't want to move my Dad to Sage Oak because the rooms are just a bedroom with a private bath. My mistake. It is set up to encourage interaction between staff and other residents. It is like a home with friends over. This has been the best decision ever. I could immediately see the personal care and concern by the staff. I had the pleasure of being able to tour Sage Oak prior to it's opening for the public. It's such a beautiful, well designed facility that caters to our elderly population. I have also had experience with Sage Oak as a healthcare provider and it's a top notch facility. The staff is very knowledgeable, caring, compassionate and they make their residents feel like they are at their own home since most are not able to go back and live in their own personal home. As we all know how hard it is to make the decision to put our loved ones in any kind of home, after the experience I have had with Sage Oak, I would be 100% confident to place my mom in this facility and know that she will be loved, cared for and well taken care of and she would have the best quality of care I could have ever ask or provide for her.

My mother is receiving compassionate, quality care at Sage Oaks. The chefs prepare amazing dishes and gladly accommodate her mechanical soft diet needs. The caregivers keep my mother in the open living area so that she can enjoy seeing visitors and staff and watch her meals being prepared. Her room is inspected routinely to insure cleanliness and order. The chair and bed in her room have alarms to notify the staff that she is "on the go." Caregiving for a loved one with dementia is a very difficult task. Sage Oaks is my mom's fourth facility. For the first time, she says that she is in a nice place. Sage Oaks gives me a tremendous piece of mind. I visit my mom usually 6 days a week. The residents, family members and staff have made caring for my mom much easier. I would highly recommend Sage Oaks to anyone requiring memory care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident in Sage Oak Memory Care for one month. Sage Oak has greatly surpassed all our expectations. Every single employee gives 100% every day. It is obvious it is not just a job, but a calling for them. Her level of care gives the family such peace of mind. We know she is in good hands, always. The administration is accessible and responsive if a need arises. The building is beautiful, clean and feels like home. Lots of natural light comes through the windows and there is always something good cooking in the kitchen. The small 16 room setting makes it so much more personal and allows for a very low caregiver-to-resident ratio not found anywhere else. We love Sage Oak in Lake Charles.

I have been working at Sage Oak of Lake Charles for a few months and I am ecstatic about it! The Sage Oak care model is completely out of the box and will shake up senior living in Southwest Louisiana. I enjoy the atmosphere at the community and the staff is amazing. Everyone here has a true passion for a improving the lives of seniors in our community and it shows in the care that is currently being taken to prepare for new residents. The homes are beautifully designed with open concept kitchens in which personal chefs and chef-trained caregivers will prepare meals in front of residents in a residential style kitchen, helping to keep residents engaged in their care. Our caregivers will be encouraged to form relationships with residents instead of being solely task-oriented. I love spending time with seniors and look forward to facilitating and participating in activities in our community. The landscaped courtyards are accented by perfectly placed patio furniture which will allow residents to enjoy the outdoor space whenever the weather allows. I strongly suggest dropping by to visit and experience the Sage Oak difference for yourself! Your idea and expectation of senior living will never be the same!!

I visited and toured Sage Oak last week, and was very impressed by this facility. I wasn't sure what to expect, being that it's a brand new construction, but was pleasantly surprised! They have a very unique setup there, that I found to be MUCH better than your typical "big box" assisted living communities I've seen in the past. The community is split up into several 16 bed houses....each with their own personal chef, in an open floor plan, where the central part of the house consisted of an open kitchen/community area. Most all of the residents were out there...which was the opposite of most places where they seem to be tucked away in their rooms. Another really cool part of the design was that there was nurses/caregiver station with windows on 3 sides that allowed them to work and have eyes on the entire community area/kitchen. From a safety standpoint, this was amazing to see. Each room had its own private bathroom, w walk in shower, and pocket door for easy entry. Rooms included a closet for the resident, AND a closet for the staff to have supplies for each resident's care needs. I could go on and on, but needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed, and think they are doing a refreshing and new take to Assisted Living....which in my opinion, is very much needed. Other than the amazing facility, I found the staff to be welcoming and very informed. I met w Jeremy, who I think is the director there. He was able to answer all of my questions thoroughly.

I love what Sage Oak is doing!! As someone who had worked in Senior Living before, I can honestly say that they thought of every possible way to install a more resident-oriented experience. The layout of the campus reminds me of walking through a cozy neighborhood and the buildings a designed with comfort and social life as the focus. As a chef, the opportunities available with the open kitchen concept are sooo advantageous. Being able to directly interact with residents during meal preparation is providing the chance to perfect the tastes and needs of each individual plate. The level of support and focus on the resident experience is something I haven't observed anywhere else. I am extremely excited to call myself a member of this team and help advance this nurturing culture forward!

As someone who has worked in senior living prior, I've seen the pros and cons of how the vast spectrum of senior living companies operate. Insufficient staff, undesirable wages, cafeteria style food and the like leave a lot to be desired of the place we want to call home for our seniors. I chose to join the staff of Sage Oak because of the revolutionary approach to senior living. Sage Oak is the ideal environment for Assisted Living and Memory Care seniors. The style of this community allows residents a true home like environment while receiving the support with ADLs they need! Not to mention the out-of-this-world food! If you're beginning the search for senior living options or even considering an alternative to a current arrangement, it is worth every moment of your time to see this community in person and what they offer.
