We rated Village at Mission 5 stars due to the continuous efforts of 2 people who brought what would have been 3 stars at most to the given 5 stars. Mimi and Kidist have been consistently willing to go above and beyond to both solve problems and to implement corrective plans so that new problems will not reoccur. We have seen that providing healthcare services to our very senior citizens is a difficult and somewhat complicated task that can be very deflating and emotional for the family and people like Mimi and Kidist help us find that light at the end of the tunnel! My aunt was a resident at The Village at Mission for short-term rehabilitation. Erika, Brad, Niceee, Jessica, and the rest of the team encouraged and motivated her throughout her stay. Their compassion, dedication, and support helped her make great progress. Jessica, the social worker, also helped coordinate her return home so she could resume her life and be reunited with her beloved dogs. We are incredibly grateful for everything the team did for her! The renovation looks incredible.

We're writing this review in response to Don Warren's 1 star posted recently. While we respect the opinion of our family member, their review is not in line with what we've experienced for our mother staying at this facility. In our visits, the staff have always been incredibly kind, we see them checking on her multiple times during visits, the food looks to be decent, the room is clean, really not much we wouldn't expect from a full long-term care facility. We're sorry for their frustration, but we consider this to be an excellent facility and are happy with the care being provided to our mother.

We sure do appreciate the CNA’s who take care of our dad (Ed Growney RM 106}! Sherry is always checking in on him and even stops in to turn on the Royals game for him even though he hasn’t pushed his call light. Always a smile on her face!

I am pleased to recommend the Memory Care wing of The Village at Mission. My father has been living there just 4 months and I continue to be impressed by the caring and compassionate team who look after the residents on this wing. It takes a very special person with lots of patience to care for those who are memory challenged. Whether it is Alem, Ager, Alicia, Ashley, Matthew or Shewaye or Kelsey, it doesn't matter because I have no concerns leaving my father in their care. Each of them treat my father with respect and kindness. They each make a concerted effort to get to know his preferences and his kooky personality. I feel I can approach any one of them with any concern that may arise regarding my father. Every one of them listens attentively and makes every effort to follow through with any requests. They may make a suggestion or problem solve with me to resolve a mystery concerning behavioral patterns. They are not only caregivers but also friends and I am confident that he will be well cared for whenever they are working on the floor.

Chanise is a talented activity director and she makes each day feel brighter by keeping us involved, engaged and truly cared for. She doesn’t let anyone sit alone or feel forgotten. She gently brings us together and makes sure we are part of something. There is always something fun, new or meaningful happening because of her and it gives us all something to look forward to. You can tell she genuinely cares about each of us and that kindness feels like home. I did not want to participate when I first moved here; but because of her I met people and made friends. She is a special lady.

Almost all of the cna(s) that I see and speak with on a near daily basis have been attentive and good with my family member who resides there. However there are two that show extra care and attention to my family member. My father looks forward to having them assist in his needs. I am there almost every single day and they keep me updated on anything that may of come up and they generally have it handled appropriately. ( I selfishly wish they were never assigned to other areas). These two cna(s) are Christy and Sherri. They do a wonderful job.

Just wanted to give a little shout out to Teresa on the AL side for putting together a little ceremony to recognize all the years my mom spent as a RN. She really enjoyed it and I know it made her feel special as she wanted to put the things they gave her up on her shelves as soon as we went back to her apartment. ™ While I am here I would also like to take time to recognize Jerry (hope I spelled it right. Wasn't sure if ended in I or Y but if I remember the name tag it is a Y) She is so good to my mom and other residents as well! I notice when she's in dining room taking people their meals she will ask if they need help cutting anything or opening condiments. My mom absolutely adores her! A week or so ago, my mom was having a very difficult and emotional day. (it was when residents were not allowed out of rooms due to outbreak of sickness in AL.) I was unable to go that day but my mom had called me upset multiple times. Jerry went in on her own to just check on my mom as she always does even when my mom hasn't pushed her pendant and saw she was upset and crying. She sat down on the couch and held both of my mom's hands comforting her and reassuring her it would be ok and that everyone has bad days sometimes. She said "please don't cry, you will make me cry." My mom said "I just love you so much" and she said "I love you too, Mona." ™ Jerry is an amazing employee and is great with residents and deserves to be recognized for the great things she does for residents she cares for! There are several other great care givers and med techs as well that I will continue to give shout outs to so they too, can be recognized.

From the moment I walked in, VAM has always felt like home. My mom is warm, safe, and well cared for. The staff is attentive, and always available for what we need. Activities and friendships are always encouraged, and these things have added to the quality of my mom’s life. It is comforting to know that even when I can’t be there, she is in good hands. Fast forward 18 months, and my mother was just moved into the beautiful new memory care unit. The staff (and the VAM director Teresa), made this a seamless, easy process. My mother loves her room, and her new friends. The caregivers in memory care are wonderful, and seem very in tune to the residents. I am very thankful.

We can’t get over how wonderful your staff members are with our dad at The Village at Mission. It is unbelievable, especially after what we have witnessed at the last two facilities! They are all keepers, hang onto them! And thank you and to your team for taking diligent care of our dad. It helps when we hear Dad say he likes where he is. As of today on 3/5/26. Adding another review. The staff members at this facility are wonderful for the way they take care of the residents. Dad has been under weather lately and still too weak to get up from the chair on his own. We cannot express enough gratitude to Kimatu for the way he just came in to check on our dad to find him sitting in a chair in the dark around 2 am. Instead of ignoring him, Kimatu took special care helping him get up, took him to the bathroom and then helped him back to bed. His gentle, compassionate approach truly made a difference to where Dad felt respected, dignified, and well-cared for. Thank you, Kimatu, for your incredible dedication and for being so wonderful!

Long overdue. Mom has lived at The Village for 3 years now. Val, the director was very caring and listened to all my frustrations with Mom. She had a very bad leg infection and refused treatment. She was fading fast. Home care did the best they could and had begun treatment. The Village, with consistent care, healed her infection. Not sure she would have made it without being here. The available apartment was on the third floor. She was dead set on a first floor apartment. Eventually a space became available. The staff really helped with the move. Furniture, hanging pictures. This was a huge help. I was running out of steam so very appreciated. Once staff figured out Mom's exacting requests and met them, all worked out well. Assisted living is challenging for the people who reside in them and the people who do the work keeping their residents as well cared for as possible. On the whole, this is a good place for a Mom, or Dad.

Someone should investigate why the whole staff is leaving? Someone should investigate How Theresa annd Erika communicate with staff. Someone should investigate how 10 people pass away in 15 days. Someone should investigate the turnover rate here. Must be a reason for so many management switches at this facility. Investigate everything.

I am so grateful for the Village at Mission. I needed to find a place for my mom fairly quickly and toured several communities. Then I met Valorie. I don’t often describe people as angels on earth. But it fits here. Her compassion put me instantly at ease. When we were touring, she showed us all the available options and was transparent about pricing. I didn’t feel like I was being pressured to sign up or spend the maximum amount of money. The choice was mine and mine alone. Mom has been at the Village for just over a month and she is thriving. She has made friends and is taking part in activities. The staff is supportive and kind. They cheer on all of her victories. I rest easier knowing that she is cared for and safe. Mom lived her last five years of her life at The Village. Sadly she passed away a few weeks ago—she nearly made it to 102! She left many dear friends at the Village community, everyone there was so good to her. Many thanks to the caregivers, Nurses, receptionists, maintenance, administrative folks and really everyone there that Mom encountered on a daily basis. There was so much love showered on her! Mom appreciated all of you for enriching her life.

My Mother was at the village for over 6 years. In the time she was there, she always bragged about the caring staff. I had witnessed many acts of kindness from the staff. Mom had health issues while she was there, and the staff were always ready to help and adapt. Her apartment was small, but it was truly her home. Thanks so much for all you did for Mom.

My sisters and I toured several Assisted Living and Memory Care places for our dad over several months and visiting several places, we found Village at Mission the perfect location. We were so welcomed and impressed by Valorie Peters, Senior Living Specialist. Valorie was so caring and compassionate and listened to all our concerns about our dad’s needs. We just recently brought dad to Village at Mission after his long ordeal from another facility. The Director of Nursing, Samantha Johnston has been wonderful and is helping us tremendously with his needs. Dad is thriving here and is slowly making new friends. If you have any questions or concerns, I highly recommend Valorie as she is a good person to start with, and she is good at her job. She has a lot of experience and knowledge to help guide you. We had to find a place that could accommodate my mother in law in memory care and an apartment in assisted living for my father in law so he could be close to her. The staff went above and beyond in helping us transition into this arrangement. The nurses and administrative staff really do whatever it takes to help with all your loved one’s needs.

Valorie was wonderful in getting my father placed in the Village Facility. She was very helpful and knowledgeable in answering all of our questions. There were a few hiccups especially with the first couple of weeks in getting him settled. Samantha has been great in communicating and working out some of the issues. My father has met some really wonderful people there, residents and workers. It’s a nice community for him and I appreciate the friendships he has found.

The Village at Mission is my mother’s first assisted living. She has had a great experience and absolutely adores the nurse staff here. Especially Lesa and Cory! Valorie runs the facility beautifully and does her best to accommodate to my mothers and everyone else’s needs. She rocks and I don’t know how she does it. Cameron is the first curly headed face you see when you walk in and she is such a joy. I literally love her. They all have a spot in our hearts. I’ve connected with many staff members here that have made this easier on me/us. Due to Medicaid reasons she will have to move soon and I’m a little sad about that. I wish I could grab a handful of the staff here and bring them with us. ’”

What a great feeling to walk in and see the dedicated team members caring for my mother. We have been residents for almost 3 years. The Administrative Team have hired dedicated and joyful professionals- I trust them and don't feel the need to visit as often as the the first year. So many great associates to mention here. My mother was only at The Village for 5 weeks but we have nothing but good things to say about the experience. Everyone was so kind and tried their best to help us get her the services she needed. All the staff were courteous and pleasant when we reached out to them. I want to especially note Valerie Peters who was so helpful with answers to our questions. My mom needed rehab after a hospital stay. The staff was attentive, friendly and cared so much not only about my mom but about our family when we visited. She received amazing care. My mom enjoyed the food. It always smelled great and my mom would always tell us how good it tasted. Healthcare is a hard job. The work hard and all staff at The Village at Mission are heroes. We will continue to refer friends to The Village at Mission.

My father was in need of long term and memory care after being admitted to the hospital. We had visited The Village at Mission a year ago and we were very impressed with the Staff, cleanliness and attention that each resident received. Admission was easy, Valerie paid attention to every detail and made the process seem less. While there, my father received the best care and the entire team was amazing through the end. We really appreciate the support Valerie and her staff gave us.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where we need to find a safe place for our loved ones to be cared for 24/7 due to declining health, medical conditions, or dementia. This was the case with my dad. After a search of what would be best for my dad, we found The Village at Mission. I was immediately impressed by Valorie, who was my first point of contact. She set-up a tour, talked to me about insurance and costs, and provided information on a unique "enhanced assisted living" section of The Village at Mission, which provides a higher standard of care, including hourly check-ins with each resident. Valorie was an amazing partner with my dad's transition providing options for everything from a way my dad's significant other could occasionally dine with my dad to getting items from his home moved into his new room at The Village to make it feel like home. She is an incredible asset and I am incredibly thankful for her partnership in helping my dad feel "at home" at The Village at Mission. My dad's room is nicely redone with new flooring and a new paint job. I met several members of the staff that were equally helpful with his initial assessment and I am incredibly pleased and relieved to have found The Village. I know I sleep better at night knowing that he is being cared for there. Thank you to the entire staff on the enhanced assisted living wing for their caring and attention in taking care of my precious dad. And special thanks go out to Valorie who made this difficult decision and transition so much easier on our family as well as my dad.

I found myself in a situation where I needed to find care for my out of town parent in a matter of days over a holiday weekend. I toured several places and was getting discouraged, until I found Village at Mission where everything fell into place. The facility is outstanding, well appointed, clean, friendly environment with expertise abound. Every single person I met was amazing at their job. Mariya, Director of Nursing, gave me a guided tour, expedited my meeting with admissions, and was able to assess my parent that very same day. Valorie, Director of Admissions, came in over the holiday weekend to assure I got all the information I needed and coordinated my Dad’s admission in a matter of days. She made the entire experience seamless, helping me coordinate movers, care-givers, medical equipment, you name it, she had the answer. The entire staff is friendly and caring, the food is good, and the residents are happy, which speaks for itself. Village at Mission is a excellent facility for any senior needing expert care while providing a warm, friendly environment.

A friend of mine was in need of a high level of care rather quickly and was going to be transferring from another state. Valorie Peters met with us on short notice, was extremely knowledgeable and articulate about the services the Village at Mission could provide as they related to my friend's specific needs, and was incredibly helpful in explaining how they could help us expedite and coordinate my friend's transfer and needed services. Today, July 25, 2024, is an important marker on my road to recovery from Covid. Just before Christmas, 2021, I entered the Village at Mission rehab wing on a gurney. I was unable to stand or feed myself. Performing most of the normal personal daily routines was a challenge or impossible. Covid had left me like a stick figure with no upper-body strength and little lower-body muscle-tone. Enter Brad and Aaron, my physical/occupational therapy team. They explained what I needed to do to regain mobility and daily pushed me gently toward physical independence. Their dedication to my well-being and skilled, unrelenting progress in the numerous therapy sessions, to say nothing of their personable and humorous demeanor, prepared me for the next step in recovery. (They also went beyond their required duties and listened to my occasional voicing of frustration with the difficult situation of staff shortages regarding my care.) These guys taught me how to stand, walk, feed myself, and become more independent in performing daily personal tasks. Their goal was to get me ready for acute rehab -- and they did it in just over a month! On January 25th, two and a half years ago today, I was able to leave the Village in a wheelchair leaving the gurney behind to be transported to an excellent acute rehab facility having been well-prepared to fit right into their intensive program. Three weeks later I went home! Oh, yes! One more thing about Brad and Aaron: they loved the daily Bad Dad Jokes I shared with them and Brad's family now supplies him with his own on-going Dad Jokes!

After weeks of research & visiting numerous care facilities that could accommodate my uncle's complex & fluid level-of-care care needs, my family & I were ecstatic with joy with his acceptance into The Village's Enhanced Assisted Living (AL+) care community. Valorie Peters & her staff immediately made my uncle comfortable with & confident about his new residence & those who would be responsible for his physical & emotional needs. A Village staff member immediately gave us observant & informative recommendations to make him comfortable & healthier (e.g. cutting his fingernails to eat finger food & avoid infections) whilst sitting bedside & warmly holding his hand. That immediately solicited the broadest smile, warm chuckles & several squeezes from my uncle's hand. It was evident that they place a high priority on their residents' emotional well-being as well as cultivating trust. Further, their skilled observations are why he is alive today. A few hours after his arrival, staff ascertained that my uncle needed hospitalization where it was discovered that he had acquired 3 severe & life-threatening conditions at his previous care facility. We became acquainted with The Village at Mission while exploring options for our family. The Village is not our loved one's Senior Living Community and yet The Village is now part of our care team because their Senior Living Specialist has become a trusted resource and advocate for our family.

The administrative staff here was exemplary. They went out of their way to assist us in moving mom into this facility. The nursing staff takes pride in getting to know the patients personally. Truthfully I wish I had known about their services for skilled nursing and rehab long before we moved her Monarch Hospice service was also an outstanding addition to her care. The partnership of the two was excellent.

We moved my Mom in last Friday and so far our experience has been 5+ stars! Valorie was outstanding for months prior to our decision and so far every single staff member has been delightful and very responsive. One of the most difficult decisions a child will make for a parent was made a lot less stressful and I do feel like everyone there cares about helping my Mom and her family make this transition. ’

The Village is a wonderful place for seniors to live. My Mom is 100 and has been there for over three years. Everyone that works there is a pleasure to know and gives my Mom focused attention and loving care. The entire place has been recently renovated and is very homey and welcoming. Mom loves the activities and especially the musical programs that are provided. I highly recommend this community.

When moving my Grandparents to KC from out of town I toured six different places to find what we thought would be the best for them. The Village at Mission stood above the rest. Everyone from staff to residents are friendly, the place is light and airy, several activities per day and it feels like a home that is full of life and love. I appreciate Valerie being informative, answering all my questions and not just trying to make a sale. The transition was seamless and my Grandparents are settling in quite well and loving where they are.

This place has been wonderful to my father, and I. Ericka has been a huge help in figuring out the financial side of things, as they've been rather daunting on my own. And thank you, Nicole, for always checking in with my dad, and being someone he can talk to! Couldn't recommend this place enough.

The staff was very friendly and caring. They went above and beyond to make my aunt comfortable and brightened her day. Valerie was easy to work with and very knowledgeable.

Had to place my husband here and it is an ok place, desperately needs updating. He went in with Medicaid pending status. Glen the nurse was exceptional and caring. I do think more staff is needed. My biggest complaint is with the atrocious women in the business office. Husband passed away before we got the final approval with KanCare, they failed to provide KanCare with a proper and timely evaluation and KanCare stated we would not owe for the first month and also allowed a spousal allotment. We paid his SSN less the $62.00 monthly. After his passing we continued to receive full billing’s from this place. Both myself and our attorney continued to request a refund which was legally due. The atrocious and rude lady in the business office stated any overage was absorbed into Medicaid which was an absolute lie! It took multiple calls and after many lies of they are processing our refund we finally called the corporate office who processed our refund immediately. This took over 6 months to resolve. Beware of these deceptive practices with their business office!!!!!!
