Reviews The Village at Mission
December 2025
I had a wonderful experience working with Valorie Peters. Valorie truly went above and beyond to help my family find the right assisted living facility for my dad. She was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure we found a safe and comfortable place that met his needs. Her guidance made a stressful process so much easier. I’m incredibly grateful for her support and highly recommend them to anyone navigating senior care options.

Mom lived her last five years of her life at The Village. Sadly she passed away a few weeks ago—she nearly made it to 102! She left many dear friends at the Village community, everyone there was so good to her. Many thanks to the caregivers, Nurses, receptionists, maintenance, administrative folks and really everyone there that Mom encountered on a daily basis. There was so much love showered on her! Mom appreciated all of you for enriching her life.

A friend of mine was in need of a high level of care rather quickly and was going to be transferring from another state. Valorie Peters met with us on short notice, was extremely knowledgeable and articulate about the services the Village at Mission could provide as they related to my friend's specific needs, and was incredibly helpful in explaining how they could help us expedite and coordinate my friend's transfer and needed services. And she provided this information with all the care, compassion and understanding we needed, and hoped we could expect, during this stressful time. I would highly recommend looking at this facility for any loved one in need of their services.
June 2024
We became acquainted with The Village at Mission while exploring options for our family. The Village is not our loved one's Senior Living Community and yet The Village is now part of our care team because their Senior Living Specialist has become a trusted resource and advocate for our family.

Val has been so helpful and patient with us moving our mother into assisted living. All the staff have been very welcoming and pleasant to work with.

This place has been wonderful to my father, and I. Ericka has been a huge help in figuring out the financial side of things, as they've been rather daunting on my own. And thank you, Nicole, for always checking in with my dad, and being someone he can talk to! Couldn't recommend this place enough.
April 2024
The administrative staff here was exemplary. They went out of their way to assist us in moving mom into this facility. The nursing staff takes pride in getting to know the patients personally. Truthfully I wish I had known about their services for skilled nursing and rehab long before we moved her Monarch Hospice service was also an outstanding addition to her care. The partnership of the two was excellent.
April 2024
We moved my Mom in last Friday and so far our experience has been 5+ stars! Valorie was outstanding for months prior to our decision and so far every single staff member has been delightful and very responsive. One of the most difficult decisions a child will make for a parent was made a lot less stressful and I do feel like everyone there cares about helping my Mom and her family make this transition.
March 2024
Had to place my husband here and it is an ok place, desperately needs updating. He went in with Medicaid pending status. Glen the nurse was exceptional and caring. I do think more staff is needed. My biggest complaint is with the atrocious women in the business office. Husband passed away before we got the final approval with KanCare, they failed to provide KanCare with a proper and timely evaluation and KanCare stated we would not owe for the first month and also allowed a spousal allotment. We paid his SSN less the $62.00 monthly. After his passing we continued to receive full billing's from this place. Both myself and our attorney continued to request a refund which was legally due. The atrocious and rude lady in the business office stated any overage was absorbed into Medicaid which was an absolute lie! It took multiple calls and after many lies of they are processing our refund we finally called the corporate office who processed our refund immediately. This took over 6 months to resolve. Beware of these deceptive practices with their business office!!!!!!

After having a terrible experience at a different assisted living facility, we were desperate to find a new place for our Mom. We met Valorie who gave us a tour, showed us around, and had lots of helpful tips. Mom moved in last week and so far so good. Thanks Valorie for all the help!
December 2023
My brother and I visited The Village at Mission in early September. Our parents had recently toured the facility and had been very impressed both with the facility itself and with the Staff, namely Valorie Peters. Ms. Peters gave my brother and I an extensive tour of the facility, then set aside 45 minutes to sit down with us and answer all of our questions. Valorie was very professional, honest, and knowledgeable in all of her responses. Not once during the visit did we feel like we were at a car dealership (sorry to all you car sales people) being pressured to make a commitment or a down payment that day. Since our parents aren't yet to the point where they require assisted living, Valorie was kind enough to refer us to another nearby senior living community which has independent living apartments. The Village at Mission is an exceptional senior living community and we'd like to extend our gratitude to Valorie for hosting us!
November 2023
I can't say enough about my experience at the Village at Mission. From the time that I connected with Valorie, to the day my sister moved in, all was amazing. I helped move my sister out of her condo (with stairs) into her apartment at the Village. She is happy there and feeling so much better! The Village at Mission is an amazing place and I am so grateful that my sister lives there!
November 2023
The Village at Mission ...the next best thing to home for our dear friend, Connie. Valorie Peters and her incredible team made Connie's transition a smooth one. The Village at Mission makes a beautiful first impression, an impression that does NOT fade, an impression that is backed up by caring and helpful staff. That fist impression was not fleeting. Connie feels comfortable in her new home with her new friends. We are grateful for your ever vigilant medical staff. Thank you, Valorie, you and your team are very much appreciated.
October 2023
We've been looking for a new community for my mother. Valorie the Senior Living Specialist provided a tour of the community and took a lot of time to ask me about Mom to determine what level of care would be appropriate. She patiently answered several follow-up calls from me as we made up our mind about the right place for Mom, and then gave another tour to Mom and other family members. The Director of Nursing provided an evaluation of Mom during this visit. Mom moved in about a month ago. The staff made the move-in experience quick and easy. Since then, they have been a tremendous help to Mom - making sure she makes it to meals, asking her to participate in activities, and giving her other support she needs - like figuring out how to find ESPN on her TV when the game is on! We've been very pleased with Mom's experience here.
September 2023
I was very pleased with the experience my mother had while living at The Village at Mission. Valorie went above and beyond to make sure my 89 year old mother was happy and well cared for and the staff was warm and attentive.
September 2023
Amazing, caring staff! Changes are in progress and improvements are definately noticed!
September 2023
Val was the lady we talked to. She was very helpful and kind. My husband and I have not decided where we will move to. When we check out all the homes this one will be on the list of ones to consider.
August 2023
It is a comfortable and attractive place to live, and it is comfortable and fun for the residents!
July 2023
My mother loves the freedom that she has living here and from personal experience. The food is very very good. If there are any changes with the village of Mission, I am notified within 24 hours of any updates or changes going on at the village of Mission. there is a nearby park adjacent to the village of Mission and several others within walking distance.
May 2023
I want to give a Big shoutout To Valorie at The Village of Mission for working with and guiding me and my Mom on the biggest move of her life. It's been a couple months and I can't say enough good things about her transition. She loves the people and the friendly faces. The Nursing Directors are supportive and always available. If you are looking for a place for your loved one to to call home, this is it.
April 2023
At the start, it was staffed mostly with agency and it was difficult to see the residents suffer. Since i've been here, it has gotten better, but people have come and gone. They care more about the census and decide to send someone home and then the workload gets a bit more intense. The inventory has been the biggest issue. We're always out of some sort of supply, like a necessity supply. As I said, it has started to get easier, there hasn't been near as much agency, but when there is, we're left to clean up their mess, and the residents are cared for properly. I feel it needs a lot more improvement which is why i've stayed, to advocate for the residents, and to hopefully see this place advance. I love to see the residents faces light up when they see me. I love my job and this place still needs work and employees that are willing to work with it.
April 2023
The facility has become slow to respond to my mother in laws needs. There has been confusion about her medication. The place needs a cleaning. The same trash has been in the elevator for the last 4 days. It's not like it was when she moved in
March 2023
The staff at The Village at Mission truly care. It is a great place to be!
March 2023
The exprience we had with The Village at Mission, Valorie and the rest of the staff was beyond what we had anticipated . Valorie is a wonderful, caring, friendly person. From the first day in rehab for Joan, to needing assisted living' to finally needing that extra with memory care. Valorie was right there to discuss with us the option we had for Joan's care. Valorie was very concerned and caring in letting us know just what the she could provide for Joan. We just can't say enough positive things about The Village at Mission and Valorie.
March 2023
We moved my 92 year-old stepmother in yesterday. It has been a battle to get her to move out of her house and this was way overdue. The staff @ Village at Mission has been supportive, caring and informative. First time I've been through this process and I felt like Valorie and her staff were honest, open and responsive as we moved through the process. Hoping for the same support now that she is a resident and I'm confident that will happen.
March 2023
I helped my friend find an assisted living apartment. Valorie was very responsive and helpful in the process. She arranged for me to speak with the director of nursing as part of my decision-making. She also recommended a business that could help with the move. The assistant director of nursing has been very helpful and responsive and has an office just down the hall from my friend's apartment. PT has also been very kind and helpful so far.
March 2023
The staff here sincerely care about the residents and family's well-being. From the moment I started searching for an assisted living facility, Valorie was wonderful. Her only objective is to find the best solution to what can be a very difficult decision. If you're considering any facility, do yourself a favor and consult Valorie!
March 2023
The care givers are very thoughtful and caring. EmpowerMe therapist as Amazing!
February 2023
I can't say enough good things about The Village at Mission. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. My mom moved into an assisted living apartment in June. Valorie was so helpful to us in making the the right decision. She explained the various options and all the things included. She gave us resources to use to make the move easier. She was always available to answer any questions. Amber and the nursing staff have been fabulous as well as all the aides, the activities staff, the dining room facilities. I know there are many more people who should be mentioned and thanked. Everyone is so caring and friendly. I can only say "Thank you" for taking such good care of my mom.
February 2023
Valerie is amazing! Really helped my parents make a smooth transition.
February 2023
We had to make very quick decisions for Assisted Living. Valerie was my first point of contact and she took the time to help me understand planning for a loved one. So from day 1 our experience has been delightful, the staff is friendly and the facility is nicely kept. Simply a wonderful place to reside.
January 2023
Valerie helped our family with our fathers care when he moved into an independent living facility and is helping greatly as we transition into an assisted situation. We have yet to tour the Village at Mission facility but if Valerie is involved in it I know it is excellent.
December 2022
Sweet people. Very positive and happy environment!

October 2022
This is the place to come to! Marvelous and wonderful service. I would highly recommend to come here. Therapy has my leg moving after 2 years of not being able to! I will definitely come back and get treated like family!
September 2022
Thanks to Valorie for helping me in my search for a place for my Mom. She was very caring and compassionate towards my mom and myself. The updates are being completed, but the staff is what really counts.
August 2022
Just moved my mom into the Village at Mission from an assisted living facility in Phoenix, AZ. Val was a real pleasure to work with - very responsive and helpful! Mom is very happy with the room and is settling in nicely. The extensive recent facility remodel is nearly complete and looks great.
August 2022
I ended up choosing a different place for my Mom.....but the people here are very friendly & helpful. Valorie in particular was very nice. It seems like a good and safe facility that would take great care of seniors. I would certainly consider The Village at Mission in the future.
July 2022
Having a senior living community in the heart of Prairie Village is a treasure, but having a Community Relations Director like Valorie Peters, is like hitting the jackpot. It is so unexpected to have someone you have just met work so hard for you and your loved ones and obtain such positive results even with very complicated cases. I care for my Mom and Aunt (both with different needs) and Valorie has taken us through each transition in level of care with such confidence and ease regardless of whether the right answer is her facility or one outside of her senior living community. We are actually in the middle of transitioning my Aunt to a new place for financial assistance and Valorie has been instrumental in making EVERYTHING happen. We could never have done this without her. If you are lucky enough to have her on your side, you will know what I mean pretty quickly.
July 2022
Over the past 8-9 years we have had experience with a family member in the Health Care Unit, Assisted Living Unit and now the Memory Care Unit. Past concerns were primarilarly related to frequent difficulities with a specialized diet, lost laundry, high staff turn over and much confusion with initial response to breakout of Covid 19 in the early days of the pandemic. Past issues, real or preceived, individual or universal have received significant attention. Currently, without exception, all level of staff are responsive, sincere, and aware of names and needs of each individual resident. Kindness and respect for each resident and their family members in abundantly evident. There is a high level of coordination and cooperation among the staff with resident safety high on everyone's mind. Activities to engage residents are again being offered as allowed by current CDC guidelines and recommendations. Residents are encouraged to participate and are gently reminded when it is time to do so and are not left to languish in their room or miss an opportunity. Residents who are no longer able to do much more than sleep for a good portion of the day are visited by an aide on a regular schedule to check on their well being, administer medicine or just for a short chat. While many repairs are underway, including new bright decor, the real strength of this facility is the dedication of a friendly caring staff throughout the facility.
June 2022
My sister and I were looking for a place for my father and met with Valerie, the Community Relations Coordinator. She was fantastic. She talked at length with us about my dad's situation, gave us a wonderful facility tour and offered great advice. She really helped us make the best informed choice for our father.
May 2022
My mom stayed at the Village at Mission to gain strength to return home after a hospital stay. We were very impressed by the dedication for the staff. Taking care of people is a calling and each caretaker handled every situation with kindness and integrity. The physical therapist was extremely knowledge and encouraging. Thank you all for getting my mom on the path to healing and back to her own home!
May 2022
At a time of painful indecision about finding a place for my sister, who had gone through three months of rehab. for a broken hip, we connected with Vallarie, the coordinator for The Village at Mission. She calmed us, gave us advice and direction with lightning-speed assurance about placing my sister at the Village. Within in a manner of days, my sister was moved, placed in a pleasant room with helpful staff that went out of their way to make my sister feel at home. Relief, absolute relief, knowing my sister is in a safe, stimulating atmosphere with staff ... that care. Recommendations are in order to anyone finding themselves in a challenging situation like ours... rest assured that placing a loved one at the Village at Mission will be a decision you'll never regret. Matt
April 2022
When I first met with Valarie Peters, Community Relations Coordinator it was a good experience. She was excellent on making arrangements for our Mom to move to the village. She has good communications skills and made the move seamless. She returns phone calls and is easy to reach. I give her a 5 star review. Thanks Valarie for all you do.
April 2022
The new ownership is much more attentive to the residents' needs. I recently had to reevaluate the living conditions of my friend to better suit her needs and the staff, Valorie and Amber, were so very helpful in making the correct choice and the move effortless for me and my friend. Mary at the front desk is always so very helpful and warm in her greeting. I can now recommend the Village at Mission most confidently.
March 2022
The response time for helpis very slow. It took my going home to recoverfrom a Uti and rash on my rear from not being cleaned up in a timely msnner
February 2022
Very compassionate caring people at The Village at Mission. No one likes to put their family member in a facility and but when you have no choice they were wonderful to my Aunt. Very comfortable and peaceful facility. More like an apartment than a hospital type setting. Thank you for the care you have given her. Jenny Riel
February 2022
We have been looking at options for my father's care for over a year. It has been a difficult decision for him and our family regarding the move from his home into an assisted living community. During the last few months, we have progressed from considering assisted living to memory care options. I have worked with Valorie throughout the process and have been very impressed by her knowledge and willingness to help my family make the best choice for my father, regardless of which community we may eventually choose. Valorie's help has been invaluable.
February 2022
The Village at Mission is not only a beautiful community, but the staff is always caring and helpful. Valorie goes the extra mile, making herself available on weekends, calling back immediately, and is an absolute delight to work with. Her compassionate nature comes through in every conversation and it's evident how much she truly cares for people. I have been touched by her kindness from our first meeting throughout my brother's stay the past two months.
December 2021
Searching for the best way ahead with a loved one with dementia or any quality-of-life-limiting illness is a scary path, difficult to see clearly. Valorie Peters at the Village at Mission is a warm, knowledgable, straight-talking guide. She makes sense of both challenges and opportunities in the journey to find appropriate care. Even if families are just beginning to explore what will be needed, she helps sort out priorities and choices. The Village at Mission is a warm, well-staffed environment now, and with renovations and further staff additions coming, it promises to be even better. Meanwhile, talking out a step-wise way to think about the future with Valorie is a real comfort that will likely help any family trying to understand what will be the best decisions for care.
December 2021
My mom has had a myraid of health issues and a surprisingly fast decline in her dementia and the staff here has worked so well with us to stay on top of things. Nursing staff is extremely responsive and staff at the Village are very kind. So comforting to feel she is safe and well cared for during such a difficult part of her life.
December 2021
A family member recently had a rehab stay at The Village at Mission, then moved to assisted living. The staff in both areas has been wonderfully supportive and responsive. Their covid screenings for guests coming in are thorough, which to me reinforces that they care about their residents and their safety. Valorie Peters, the senior living specialist, provided excellent communication and was proactive in contacting family members and providing support and resources.
December 2021
New ownership has updated and invested in property. Staff is kind to residents, food is good and there is rapport between staff and family. Memory on unit is safe and surroundings are calming.
December 2021
I have had a tremendously positive experience working with Valorie to find emergency respite care for my dad, who has Frontaltemporal Dementia and severe incontinence. My mom -- his primary caregiver -- had a health scare, and it sent me scrambling to find care. Valorie called me back (on a Sunday of a holiday weekend!) and got to work immediately putting the plans in place to bring him to The Village for 30 days. I am so grateful to her and the staff for being so helpful at this time of need for my family. I can only hope that this respite time gives my mom a break to get healthy and helps Dad have a better quality of life.
December 2021
We chose the Villages at Mission skilled nursing for our mom's rehab after a hip surgery. Even in the deep of COVID and staffing shortages everywhere, the PTs, OT's, nurses and aids worked tirelessly to keep our mom safe, comfortable and happy. The food was excellent (which was a big plus) and the Tutera family will continue to make vast improvements on the facility itself. People/staffing is the most important and Villages at Mission did not fail us. Valorie Peters is an exceptional community relations manager and is the Villages greatest asset.
November 2021
I recently visited with Valerie in the sales office. My husband has had Parkinson's for over 18 years, and I'm looking for a placement for him. Valerie was so wonderful to take the time to help me sort through what setting would be best for his individual needs. I could tell from my time there that this is a facility that really cares about their residents.
November 2021
We selected another place for Mom based on religious preference, however, The Village at Mission was our second choice. We were most impressed with the responsiveness of the staff and the welcome we received. Valerie was always helpful and available, showed us around and answered all of our questions. The apartment had a lovely view, the common areas homey and inviting. The renovations underway by the new owners will make it even nicer. We appreciate the niche The Village offers to the elderly of our community. Dinner smelled delicious!
October 2021
My husband had a serious fall and needed rehab. Though he was badly injured and unable to participate fully, the caregivers, physical therapists, the social workers and the entire staff supported him and our family members with kindness and professionally provided honest feedback as needed. Thanks again to all for their assistance and support.

My uncle was in the memory care unit for almost two months. Everyone there was so kind to him. My uncle couldnt talk, he was blind and had issues swallowing but they were so patient with him. My aunt would come every day to see him and they treated her like family. You could tell he felt so much more comfortable there then the facility he was at prior. It is a smaller facility which after being at a much larger place, I think is a good think.

Visited my mother-in-law, a new resident, for 7 days straight. All the staff went out of their way to make her transition into assisted living as easy as possible. They were professional, helpful with any of request, listened well and were always positive. It was an emotional time for all but the staff went out of their way to make us all feel more comfortable. The residence also went out of their way to help her transition into a new life in Brighton Gardens. We left feeling she was in good hands. Thank you!!!!!

Looks great on the outside, not so much on the inside. Staff is very disorganized with keeping track of patients and meds.

I would like to submit a review of Brighton Gardens, Prairie Village, KS. My Brother, Brant Tidwell had a brain tumor discovered in April 2010. He had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation to treat it, and he did very well for about three and a half years. He spent his last couple of months here at Brighton Gardens, and I visited him there as often as I could (I live in Denver). Every time I was there, I was impressed at the level of care this facility provided him, and his family. The staff was always so helpful, and so gentle with him. Any request my sister-in-law had for them was addressed immediately. I have had occasion to be at, and even work at as a dentist, other facilities of this kind of care, and by far, Brighton Gardens continuously exhibited the best kind of care I've ever seen. I am not exaggerating. The one thing that stood out to me the most, was the attitude of the staff members. This is the area of health care that usually disturbs me the most in our current culture, and every time I visited, or left from there, I had a deep sense of assurance that my brother was absolutely in the best place with the best care he could possibly have. I am so thankful for Brighton Gardens, and for all their wonderful staff. They made my brother's last days, and his family as comfortable and as peaceful as humanly possible. I strongly recommend this facility to anyone in need of this level of care. I am convinced that you may not be able to find it anywhere else.
