Sometimes life hands us a double medical experience that nobody could anticipate. Mine came in the form of a heart issue then a broken knee a week after being discharged from Via Christi Village for the heart condition. Life happens, then we move on. However, in this instance, I really want to thank several people that work at Via Christi Village for the amazing medical care and physical therapy I received. The entire staff did a wonderful job - from the orderly who cleaned the rooms, the person who prepared the meals, to the nursing aids and the RNs themselves! There are a few personnel that truly stand out! First is an amazing RN named Jill who never got distracted and forget to attend to all her patients even when many of her days are filled with what may feel like chaos. She was always friendly, compassionate, ready with a smile and on top of her duties. Then there are four physical therapist's that were assigned to my knee recovery that also worked above and beyond their standard duties. Christianne Bergmeier, Emilea Lautner, Jim Burke and Ashley Benefield. All four were supportive, compassionate, friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, had a great sense of humor and always ready with a smile. My knee recovery went smoother and faster because of these special, experienced care givers. Thanks again to everyone who played a part in my expedient knee recovery at Via Christi Village! Ya'll are just terrific!

I went to pick up a resident and there was nobody but I knew how to check in on the kiosk. I thought knew where I was going but got mixed up on the floor. A very nice employee rode up the elevator with me and showed me where to go. They checked me in on the floor and I told them when we'd be back. Another very nice employee showed me how to fold up his wheelchair to put it on my car. Very friendly and kind staff. Clean facility. Nice experience all in all.

I had my first care meeting today for Richard Hatting with Stephanie Social Services, Ashley OT and Teresa PT. I was very impressed with all three professionals. They were very caring and explained very clearly what their plan is for Richard to return home. Stephanie was nurse when my Mother was in LTC 4 years ago and I remember how special she was and could always make me smile. She is the BEST!!

Glad my mom could speak for herself and knew she had already had her medication I noticed different nurses come into her room and tried to give double medication within about 2 hrs. apart she spoke up and told the nurse she already had taken her medication on that day. Overall, the staff: Nursing, housekeeping, Therapy and food services was great, and we felt apart of the family @ Via Christi Village Manhattan! My mother really enjoyed her month stay and said after she is better, she would love to volunteer at the skilled nursing Ascension Living. Note there really needs to be more staffing on the overnight shifts some nights/early morning it would take the nurses several hours to come in her room after she had pulled the alert button near her bed. She stated that she could hear staff talking and laughing but no one came to check what she needed. These issues and concerns were brought up to the social worker who was awesome at trying to resolve these issues. Please consider hiring more nursing staff so the Village can continue to be a safe and loving place to live.

Great atmosphere, cleanliness and very cozy environment. The resident are taken real good care of and are like one big happy family. The staff friendly and caring. I would recommend my family to stay with them and it would be a great place to work. I say this because they take care of their residents an it's seen when you look at them from head to toe. During my visit, I got to see how well the staff cared for their residents. They were involving any residents they could with a singalong. The nurse and cna knew their residents well and could help plan to get residents to the activity so they could enjoy it. The person I went to see likes to get up later and she has told me how thankful she is that she can get up at lunch time instead of earlier when she likes to sleep.

I went to see my brother today. I was pleased to see more staff available to help take care of the residents. I also noticed new key pads up to help get into the building and other parts of the building. My brother has gained a little weight. He said he likes the food and eats three meals a day. The staff treats my brother with respect and seems to truly care about him.My brother now is having physical therapy. He seems calmer.The facility looks clean. I know from personal experience how hard it is to care for the residents in a nursing home. Thank you each and everyone who helps take care of our loved ons's Thsnk for the improvements! e
