My mom Gloria has been living at Residences at Deer Creek for approximately a year and a half in the Memory Care Unit. She is receiving excellent care. The entire staff treats mom with great respect, grace and dignity. They treat her like family. The facility is extremely clean. Moms room is warm and comfortable. Mom is a very social person and there are many activities for her to attend. The staff that runs the activities (Jackie, Bonita and Susan) are extremely patient and kind. I have eaten many meals with my mom in the main dining room. The executive chef Vanessa, is amazing. The food is simply delicious. In closing, I feel so blessed that mom is at Deer Creek. She is in great hands. God Bless all the employees at Deer Creek.

One of the standout features of Deer Creek that really got me that is its exceptional events program. The executive director and activities team clearly puts a lot of thought and effort into creating engaging and enjoyable experiences. From the delightful dog parades that bring smiles to everyone's faces to the live concerts that fill the air with music, there's always something to look forward to.

I highly recommend Residences at Deer Creek for anyone requiring assisted living. The facility itself is always clean, warm and inviting. The staff is very kind, knowledgeable and professional. There is 24/7 nursing staff on site, along with aids to care for the residents. Everyone from the Marketing/Sales Office to the Business Office has also been very helpful to myself and our family ensuring that all of our needs have been met. My mom is currently a resident at Deer Creek, and is loving cared for by the staff. The amenities are amazing, including the individual apartments, the dining room and the delicious food, the bistro, the exercise room, and the beauty salon just to name a few. There are always wonderful activities going on for both residents and family members. This is the only facility that I would consider if you are looking for assisted living for yourself or a loved one. An amazing, caring and loving home that does not disappoint. Questionable sales tactics. On our tour we were led to believe an apartment would be opening soon--was told we came at the right time. Given the wait list situations in AL facilities, we acted fast and signed the waitlist agreement and paid the non-refundable $500. When we dropped off the agreement and deposit, we were told we'd receive a call in 7-10 days. Of course that did not happen. When I followed up it took three phones called and 1.5 weeks to talk to the sales representative. Again, told there was an apartment slotted for my mom--just waiting for the current resident to work through moving issues. Called again to inquire on status and told it was likely a unit would be available in a month or so. In the end we had to move on. My mother waisted $500. It's a shame they feel good about taking people's money. Maybe it's a nice place...if you ever get in.

If you are searching for a facility that puts the residence first, both in their Medical Needs as well as their daily living environment, then look no further, as the Residence at Deer Creek goes above and beyond in providing that level of care. I have had a sibling living there for the past 7 months. The quality of care from the Executive Staff, the Nurses and the remaining support staff has been outstanding Take the time to personally visit with the staff, take a tour of the facility and see all that they have to offer. You will not be disappointed !!!

Horrible....Staff is consistently complaining about management, especially in memory care units. Staff has a high turnover rate. I was told by more than one employee the high turnover is due to the treatment they received from head nurse. People are overworked and I was also told that at times there is only one nurse in the entire building and that nurse is instructed that she does not have to do regularly needed procedures cuz she won't have time (i.e.. they do not check residents blood sugar). My loved one died there due to a recent covid outbreak in the facility. I remain anonymous as I have friends that work there and do not want them to be the victims of retaliation by staff. Stay away from this place. I don't care if this review gets posted but I rather hope something is done to address the issues I have mentioned and the ones I have not. This facility could be so much better. It all starts from the management. You need to do better and then your staff will do better. I have seen so many people go because and been told it is not even the low pay. It is the way the CNA's are treated.

Mom lived her final 21 months at Deer Creek in Memory Care. The nurses and staff were top notch, showing genuine love, care and patience for mom's entire stay. They helped with dressing, bathing, daily meds, eating, and getting in and out of a wheelchair and bed without ever showing frustration. Mom responded back with genuine appreciation in her heavy accented "Tank you, tank you!", and she enjoyed participating in group activities. In memory care, when visiting, you're often challenged whether to laugh or cry; the staff would always keep residents dealing with anxiety on any given day close by the nurses station to provided extra care. Low staff turnover and genuine empathy seemed to play a significant role to mom's ability to live her final years with dignity in a secure, safe environment. On behalf of my siblings and myself, thank you!

My mother lives here and requires extra assistance. The staff is very caring and attentive. The full-time CNA's are very good to her and help lift her spirits. The building and common areas are kept clean. The food and the food service team is excellent. The management team has always been responsive to mom’s needs and my requests. I wanted to surprise my mom with a little pizza party one day. The concierge went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Mom was so happy.

My sister lived here. It was the very best choice for us. Every single department contributed to her excellent care and services. The kindness of the staff was immeasurable. The quick move in process was handled exceptionally well by the Executive Director and the Director of Nursing who coordinated everything with us and the hospital. When we arrived, everything was waiting for us and just perfect for my sister. The attention she got, the warmth and caring shown to her and our family will never be forgotten.

Very Disappointed with memory care unit. No one is using Snoezelin room or knows where it is or what to do. Cleaning resident nails is forbidden by activities, they stated they are not certified to file nails. These residents need their nail beds cleaned regulary part of personal care. I rarely see smiles or engagement among the CNA staff with residents. The unit is not structured to improve or stabilize resident memory. With low staffing, residents are placed in front of TV. Dementia training is very minimal. Training should be continuous. I've worked in a dementia unit with residents coming in W/C bound, total care including feeding, not talking to and walking, stand by assist, and telling jokes and dancing.

My mother lived here for 5 months. She was wheel chair bound and required extra assistance. The staff was very caring and attentive. The nursing staff, especially Debbie, was always willing to take the time and discuss medications and her overall health. The full-time CNA's were very good to her and helped lift her spirits. The building and common areas were kept clean. The food and the food service team is outstanding. The management team is fully engaged in the operations and were always very responsive to our requests. I visited and interviewed several places prior to moving her here, and we decided that the Residences at Deer Creek was best for her needs, and they really delivered.

There have been a few legitimate emergency call button issues with my parents in 2023. The emergency call button response was advertised to be within a few minutes however nobody responded for over an hour. An ambulance should have probably been called in a couple of the incidents but was not. Seems like understaffing is an issue especially on weekends.

After visiting several assisted living centers in NW Indiana, we confidently chose the Residences at Deer Creek in Schererville for my Aunt Barbara. The care she received for the past few years until her recent passing was absolutely the best we could have anticipated. The staff is professional, patient, and compassionate in all their daily duties, a very difficult job for even the better angels among us. We highly recommend The Residences at Deer Creek.

Like many other families we had to make the difficult choice to move a mother to assisted living and a brother to memory care within months of each other. We made the best decision of our lives to pick Deer Creek for the care of our loved ones. Everyone that we have entrusted to their care has been kind, compassionate and excellent at what they do. We are kept well informed on any changes or concerns and are always able to get our questions answered without delay. Like another reviewer has said, a loved one might not be happy to be out of their home but the peace of mind our family has every single day more than makes up for that. The social worker has helped with the emotional adjustment and even the housekeeping staff ( shout out to Ali) will stop and talk with my mom when my mom needs a listening ear. The food is delicious and residents have full decisions of what they eat and when. Our loved ones are warm, well cared for and well fed. We live 1200 miles away and Covid has brought its own unique challenges but we can honestly say that not being there as often as we would like would be unbearable if not for the peace of mind the folks at Deer Creek have provided.

My sister and I had the unfortunate opportunity to place our mom at Deer Creek in 2014. The staff did a terrific job keeping her happy, despite her best efforts at trying to cut the wrist bracelets off! The staff were super kind, and had the patience of saints despite a super-difficult work environment. Anne had ice cream whenever she wanted, they kept her well-fed, clean, and comfortable, and I know she was in good hands...would definitely recommend Deer Creek.
