My close family member was suddenly and unexpectedly dx'd with terminal cancer. Given her rapid decline, she needed more assistance than she could get at home, even with a home healthcare company coming in. So, we met with Kayla, the Executive Director of Brookdale, and it felt like the "right" fit. There's an emphasis on family and how the residents of Brookdale are all family and treated like family. The facility is very clean. The staff friendly and smiling. They were preparing for their Christmas party. We liked many of the community elements and even the birds: Brook and Dale, and we really hoped that our loved one would rebound enough to get to enjoy this new home. Sadly, she continued to rapidly decline and needed to transfer to hospice care instead of rebounding. However, this was where Brookdale shined even brighter, particularly Nurse Kelli whose compassion was palpable as she sat with my loved one, holding her hand and talking softly during a particularly bad moment of physical pain. My loved one was cared for with compassion as a human, as a family member. Bathed. Medicated. Offered food with no pressure at every meal even though she had stopped eating. And when the last day came, the nurses and staff went out of their way to ensure that our apartment was quiet and undisturbed by anyone other than the nurses helping us. It's still fresh and it still hurts, but I say with 100% truth: thank you to Kayla and Christy and Ashley and Kelli for making this nightmare so much better than it would have been at home or at the hospital. Brookdale was a second home during a terrible transition and they treated all of us very well. I definitely recommend Brookdale, wholeheartedly.

Kendra Cline was amazing as we went through informational calls and took a tour of Brookdale. What was feeling like a stressful time trying to make the right decision for our loved one was made easier by Kendra and the team. After speaking with them plus touring the facility we felt instantly at peace - that this was the right place. The team has helped us and our loved one through the transition and acclimation process being understanding and responsive to us as family members since we as the extended family are all out of state.

Brookdale has been a Godsend for my Grandmother. I dont have alot of help in providing all the tasks, so when it came time to get some help I couldnt believe a childhood friend was the director here. Nothing could have lived up to my standards but with Kayla's trusted word I became less rigid about the matter as a whole. Grandma is now thriving and regaining alot she had lost as she was living in solitude. The community of residents, the staff and activities has her new chapter in life something i look forward to hearing about every day.

I had visited several Assisted Living facilities before I went to talk to the people at Brookdale in Urbana. I knew right away that I had found the right place. Ashlie was very kind and easy to work with. She understood what I was looking for and did an excellent job of communicating with me. Christie also knew what our needs were and assured me that they were able to take care of my loved one every step of the way. The facility was bright and cheery with a lot of windows. Everything was clean and everyone I encountered was so nice! I would not hesitate to tell anyone that this is a great facility and that they should definitely see if it’s a place for them. My uncle had great care at Brookdale. He enjoyed the residents, the staff and his one bedroom apartment. From his first days at Brookdale to his hospice care later he was safe and comfortable. The transportation to doctor appointments was very helpful.

After visiting and researching a dozen local facilities in the Champaign-Urbana area (many of which were very good....), my family chose Brookdale of Urbana for my 90 year-old father's care. Initially, what impressed us most was the smiling, welcoming vibe of every staff member we came into contact with. It felt like a place run by people who truly cared about the important work of caring for the elderly. Their dedication gave off a "happy energy" that we could feel as we toured, and we could imagine our dad being happy in that atmosphere. Now that our dad lives there, we can attest that the happy energy is indeed ongoing! Two other important factors to mention: 1) The Activity Programming is EXCELLENT. So many options to be social. Frequent live musical entertainment. Daily exercise. Fun/silly games for all levels. A daily ice cream social! Many thanks to the fabulous activity team! 2) Brookdale offers a full scope of assistance for their residents. Our dad has both cognitive and physical challenges, and we are able to pick from an "a la carte" menu of assistance options to tailor his care to his needs. Very grateful for the caring people at Brookdale of Urbana!

I came to Brookdale for a temporary stay to complete my recovery from physical injuries. My stay at Brookdale has been an excellent experience. The facility is first-rate and the staff is even better. From management to nursing care to maintenance to dining services, the staff is unsurpassed in their ability and willingness to serve the senior community. I recommend Brookdale Urbana to anyone looking for senior housing and, who knows, I may return some day to live here again!

I had a good experience staying at Brookdale Urbana for respite care. Admin, maintenance, programming, nursing, and food service staff were friendly and very accommodating. I did not interact much with CNAs, but they appeared to be patient and helpful to residents. Residents themselves were welcoming, accepting, kind, and patient with one another. I met people, residents and staff, whose stories, wit, and work, really touched me. Having visited many care facilities as a professional and a friend, I rank Brookdale Urbana among the better ones. The grounds are beautiful, there are rabbits and birds everywhere, programs are engaging, and a number of longer term residents go out of their way for newcomers. The nursing staff is available 24/7 with professional care and understanding. We can't always be where we would like to be, but beauty and good companionship in the places we find ourselves go a long way toward fostering wellness.

While my father was a resident there he and my family were treated with the utmost respect and care. The entire staff was responsive to our needs, and were always professional and "human" at the same time. From a financial standpoint, we particularly appreciated the "a la carte" pricing structure at Brookdale, which allowed us to tailor a monthly care schedule which both met my dad's physical needs and his budget as well. We would recommend Brookdale to anyone, and in fact have done so on several occasions. Kudos!

My Aunt has been here about a year and a half and I visit weekly. They just finished a complete remodel of common areas so all the flooring, paint and furniture is new. Convenient location close to groceries, banks and 3 pharmacies. Receptionist and staff seem friendly. She's never happy with the dinners, but says breakfast and lunch is good. Sometimes they seem to be short wait staff at meal time.

The carpet in the foyer and first foor hallways are absolutely filthy. No receptionist at the front desk. I ate lunch with someone there and my grilled cheese sandwich was two pieces of grilled bread with cold cheese between. The nursing staff seems attentive. Resident room smelled very damp and musty.
