It was difficult to decide on the right fit for my mom. I had so many questions. Would they be flexible on her difficult days and engaging on her good days? Would her needs be met with patience, understanding, and knowledge of her disease? Would they offer stimulating activities that she could choose to join? Amber Glen answered my questions every day and the answers were "Yes." AG has provided a loving, caring, professional, and safe environment for my mom. As a family/staff team, we all work together to support her the best we can. Days aren't perfect. There are ups and downs but I trust Amber Glen to their very best for my mom. I have also benefitted from their support group for caregivers.

"Amber Glen is a specialized Alzheimer's/dementia care community that provides care to people who are going through the worst times of their lives, and that of their loved ones as well. They do this with dignity, respect and compassion. They offer stimulating music, tai chi exercise, baking, and numerous other activities to keep everyone active and engaged. They have support groups for family/friends, so you don't have to experience this devastating disease by yourself. Definitely one of the best places to check out if you are in the need of this specialized care."

Having experienced different facilities in the Kankakee area for my parents, when it came time to place my aunt in Champaign we researched and visited many facilities in Champaign and the surrounding areas. Amber Glen was the best choice for us in so many levels. While some of the other facilities were nice, there was not as many levels of care or as caring people-staff as we found at Amber Glen. The dining, activities and office staff really seem to care and know the residents. Important points for us were that the facility seems more of a retirement home than an Alzheimer facility and something we learned from placing our parents, not all facilities offer end of life care, and ended up moving our father three times near the end which is what youre not supposed to do because the places would only care up to a certain level. Its a tough decision to place a parent or family member, but Amber Glen was a good match for us

We recently transitioned my father to this facility and the first few days were rough as he transitioned to their facility. When we call, they are willing to talk and seem knowledgeable about the care given to Dad, even with 40 plus residents and two nurses on day shift and one on night shift. They continue to work with the provider that comes to the facility as well as his specialist to adjust care without having to take our loved one out of the facility. Also, we like the fact that they have motion sensors in each room to alarm them of movement if one is trying to get up or may need help. They offer lots of activities. Thus far, we would definitely recommend Amber Glen!!

They have a very caring staff. The director is very hands on and is always available to family members. My father has been well cared for. The doctor and nurse practitioner covering Amber Glen are professional and in touch with the needs of the residents. I highly recommend Amber Glen!

My mom has resided at this facility for 5 months. All of the staff are caring and supportive. They made my mom transition smoothly. They have also helped me with my fears and guilt of placing my mom in an assistant living. They listened to her concerns and adjusted to my mom instead of my mom adjusting to them. I recommend.

I thought I had my mother in a very good facility but Amber Glen is many steps above that in their care and attention of her. Every day she is well dressed, hair combed well fed and happy. The staff pay close attention to her and are always on top of what is happening with her. I see the same level of care with other residents as well. They have a lot of very good activities as well which everyone seems to enjoy

I have great confidence in the staff and care they give the residents. Only those that have taken care of a family member know the challenges these care givers face every day. I see how they interact with patients and help these vulnerable souls handle daily life. The center is beautiful and always well maintained. Hopefully I will never need to live in a care facility, but if I do, I would live in Amber Glen.
