I knew the moment I arrived this was the right place for my parents. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the entry was fresh and inviting. When I went through the door of their apartment, it felt like home. It was cheerful and bright. Everyone was helpful and sensitive to all our concerns. Mom tells everyone she feels like she is living at a 5 star hotel. Thank you LHV for creating a wonderful place for my parents to call home!!

A peaceful and beautiful campus with lots of social activities to choose from if desired! All staff is caring and very helpful. The dining experience is delightful with variable menus and delicious meals. Many types of services are offered from dementia care, rehab, assisted & skilled nursing plus independent living. Classes of all kinds such as physical exercise in gym or swimming in a beautiful pool. Maintenance staff is wonderful to assist in any way needed. Bible studies, movies in theater & in-house, & visits from grandchildren & families keep a constant flow of activities! So grateful & a big Thank You to the various Lutheran Churches who help support the needs of residents, and exemplify real Christian love! A real Blessing & definitely a place where Seniors can Live Life to the Fullest!

Lutheran Hillside Village - Lutheran Senior Services has been my residence for over 17 years. It is a beautiful facility and campus that provides a continuum of care for residents in their senior years. It provides me with a restful mode of living, without caring for the upkeep of a residence. The residents and staff are friendly and enjoy living and working in this place that provides good food, transportation to appointments and activities, as well as an abundance of activities on campus. The Wellness Center allows exercise on a walking track, an array of equipment and a pool. I would encourage people to move here when they are in good health, so they can enjoy all of the amenities longer.

At age 83, after my wife passed away I found myself with a large house and yard to care for by myself. I started hiring the yard work done and shutting off rooms to aid with the cleaning. Frozen dinners became my easy meals. After a year of that lifestyle, I started looking for an alternative. My daughters and I checked at many senior options in the area. When we found Lutheran Hillside Village, I was elated! Three delicious meals a day, Christian atmosphere, movie theater, therapy services on site, large gym and swimming pool, transportation to Dr. appointments and stores at no charge. Many other amenities too numerous to list. I have been a resident now for four months, and all the staff call me by my 1st name and care for my every need. My daughters are so happy that their father is happy and cared for. This will be my home until I leave for Heaven. What a fortunate senior I am, to be able to spend my later years at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. Ron Cotton

While mom was in Assisted Living everything was great. Sure there were a few hiccups, but that's to be expected. However she has Parkinson's, and after about 3 years she became wheelchair bound. She had started falling. The care she received in R.E.A.C.H.was great. eventually she was moved to the Care Center. While there it was observed that her falling was caused by having had seizures. She was in the Care Center for only 3 months and the care she received was HORRIBLE! She was treated like it was an interruption in the CNA's day to take care of her. There were medication mix ups, communication mix-ups, and when my sister (with medical POA) asked tried to discuss Mom's care there were problems. I don't know if the problems we experienced with Mom we're specific to that wing of the Care Center or if it's true of the whole Care Center. As a result of the care that Mom did not get while there, she has been moved to another facility. This facility not only has memory care for wheelchair bound people, that was not available through LHV, she is getting much better care at the new facility. Plus the atmosphere is brighter and people more personable.

I gave two stars because I wanted to give some credit to the Assisted Living. While my mom was there and mostly independent, things were pretty good and she like it there. However, once she began needing more care, all I got was a we aren't licensed to do that answer with hardly any solutions other than me giving her more care myself. On several occasions, I requested that she be placed in memory care. I either got "it's full" or "your mom doesn't qualify". Once she needed skilled nursing care and was moved to the Care Center, things got really, really bad. There was NO communication unless I spoke with the DON or director. I complained several times to both about two of the nurses and this nurse still did not change her attitude or behavior. There were medication mix-ups. They put my mother on an unrealistic bathroom schedule, there were medication errors, they never sent medical information with my mother to her doctor's appointments, she missed appointments because she was not put on the shuttle schedule. All the staff just acted like they were too busy to give nothing more than slam, bam, thank you ma'am service. The CNA's would help the other resident in my mom's room and completely ignore my mother. I don't understand how they get a 5 star rating. Given they are the most expensive facility in the city, you would think they would give better care. Needless to say, I moved my mother and she spent the last few months of her life in a facility that was heaven on earth.

My dad was in REACH Short Stay to receive therapy and care from March 24 thru April 20th. Everyone was kind, compassionate, helpful, caring and welcoming. He showed positive signs of progress with the therapy he received. His assigned room was lovely and clean. All my questions concerning care and insurance were answered in a timely fashion and with the utmost consideration and professionalism. I was always warmly greeted by all staff with every visit.

I was at Lutheran Hillside Village for 10 days for rehabilitation after an accident. The occupational and physical therapists, doctors, nurses, and everyone else were very courteous, thoughtful, and helpful. The room was cleaned every day, laundry was done, and I could not have asked for better attention. The food was varied and very good. The entire experience was A plus and if I ever need such a facility again I will definitely request Lutheran Hillside Village. Thank God for everyone that attended to my needs.

I wanted to share my experience at Lutheran Hillside Village. I moved my dad into assisted-living in August 2018. He just passed away in March 2019. I can't say enough about how great the experience was from beginning to end. I'm gonna name names, they all deserve recognition! From the start, with Denise in marketing, she was friendly, thorough, and inspired confidence. Dad's nursing staff Tobi, Janet and Ashley were all wonderfully patient with him and his requests, and always took the time to fill me in on details and answer all of my questions. Sarah Kaufmann, the director of assisted-living, Rita Lewis in the office and Sarah, the activities director, all took a personal interest in my dad and helped me immensely! Shelly Heiden, the executive director is one class act! After my dad passed away, Chaplain Patrick Monroe was there to help in any way he could offering his services if we needed it. Shellie Heiden, Sarah Kaufmann and Patrick Monroe all attended my dad's visitation, which to me was way above and beyond the call of duty. And last but not least when it came to my dad's final billing, Randy Keller in finance was understanding, patient and non-pressuring. I couldn't ask for a better staff if I would've handpicked them myself! Thank you all for everything! Michelle Hammond

The Reach unit doesn't seem to have the staff it needs! When someone comes in there and is NOT gotten up to walk for a week...somebody has" dropped the ball"...if you get what I mean!
