Bria of Palos is EXTREMELY over-rated! My Mom was there for 24 days and did not make gains in her recovery. They have a huge number of problems, don't return phone calls, have problems with employee turnover, and always try to say it's someone else's department/role. Staff actually told me that their policy is that no one outside of PT/OT may help patients with walking or standing. Only to reposition them in the bed. My Mom entered the facility with the ability to use the toilet, but left dependent on a pull up. Every time my Mom needed to use the bathroom or get assistance with her diaper, the average time was from 23 to 48 minutes. When I brought that to the director, she is always quick with an apology and reminded me that average assistance facilities are at least 15 minutes. They reported to Medicare that she could walk 60 feet in a session...but did not include the details of 60 feet in a session of 20 minutes, with PT assistance, and three sitting stops. In the 24 days of being there, they did not give her a shower or teach her to shower during her whole stay. When questioned about this, they said it was due to her surgical wounds, however, she was medically cleared for a shower with 8 days remaining on her stay. The CNAs did not offer to help change her clothes-she actually wore the same shirt for 5 days. Just negligent. My Mom is of the generation of not self advocating and speaking up for herself, but their treatment of her is egregious! I discussed expectations and disappointment with the staff and nothing changed. Just apologies. The staff would come in and place her meal, but no one offered to help sit her up on the bed to eat. I will say...unless your loved one is 110% motivated then will not reach goals at Bria. I could go on and on...but Bria will need to wait for my direct call to the state. Pick a different place.

The 1st floor is a nice clean atmosphere. I have not been beyond the 1st floor.

This rehabilitation center is beautiful inside and updated. My mother in law is there, and so far she said the food has been delicious. We have been to a few other rehabilitation centers and this one doesn't smell and the rooms are kept very clean. The staff are very friendly, and nurse Margie, and CNA Hope, have gone above and beyond for her health care needs.

My dear friend spent a few weeks at Strive. I was pleasantly surprised. The place was spotless and smelled as clean as it looked. The staff, though short handed, were caring, polite, and friendly. The only complaint was the food. We took meals to my friend and made sure she had plenty of healthy snacks (fruit, muffins, protein bars, etc) for when the food was unberable.

I've had a wonderful experience. Everyone that works there they are wonderful and sweet. Whenever I call them they answer me no matter what they are doing. They have been patient with us and has helped my father in law after he had his stroke back in October. They treat there sick patients like family and will always be happy to help us. I highly recommend coming Here. Thank you for everything you do.
