My mom told me this was the best birthday she ever had. From the visits, calls, cards and gifts as well as the tiara and light up sash she wore proudly as a queen for the day at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation https:, , m.facebook.com, parkpointehealthcare, . Many of you helped make that day special for her and for that I thank you. So many wonderful people who made her final days special. The amazing staff at Heritage Woods Assisted Living of Minookahttps:, , www.facebook.com, heritagewoodsminooka, who gave her a few more years of independence and care to the wonderful staff at Park Pointe, who took over and helped her go from I dont want to be here to a place she called home in her last months, will always be appreciated for all they do for our elderly here. The great and loving young pair of CNA angels, you know who you are, that had a hard time letting her leave there yesterday and cried with us as we made our journey home with her, I hope her big old teddy bear and small white teddy bear with angel wings she loved so much bring comfort to you and help you remember this great lady you came to love so so much and who shares a birthday with one of you. Thank you for helping take such good care of her ❤ My mom got to be with family touching, hugging and holding her in her final moments and she listened on the phone to many of her family members who could not be here to say their goodbyes in person and we know she heard all your amazing words as we witnessed her reactions as well as saw just how much those words calmed her down and helped make her transition a peaceful one very early this morning. Thank you to my loving daughter Audrey Meyers who came and stayed with me through the night and helped me comfort her as she passed on. I know she was your favorite and she loved you and your kids beyond words. Thank you for the time you spent going to visit her with the kids and having sleep overs at your house. Those pics and vids you have of those special times will be treasures and keep her spirit alive for those great grand babies she loved beyond words . Thank you also to my loving partner Scott Messel who quickly transformed our home into a space for my mom to come home to and be comforted in her final moments, Christmas Tree Lights and all, as well as making food to feed our tired souls. I have never been so thankful I met you and I know God helped us find one another to comfort each other through our aging parents journeys Thank you to all who prayed for her in her final months, weeks, days and hours it brought comfort to her and I. My mom was a tough cookie. We butted heads a lot. But we loved each other immensely regardless and we both knew it. I would not be the strong independent person I am had it not been for her.I miss you mom but I know I will see you again one day and I cant wait to see you pain free and be able to get a big hug again. My uncle has been a resident here since the week they opened. He absolutely LOVES it here! I knew when I called and talked to Shannon before they were open, that this was going to be a wonderful place. We are so happy that we chose Heritage Woods Minooka and we are very thankful for everything they do that makes this community a wonderful place to live for our loved ones!

Let me start by saying that I am sad that my family and I will not be a part of the Heritage Woods of Minooka Community. My mother in law moved into this community on the opening weekend. It was something new and beautiful. The building is warm and inviting. The hallways spacious, the common areas inviting and warm. The apartment (1Bedroom) was well thought out and provided everything that my 84 year old MIL could need.The changing meals were creative and tasty. If there was a day that the meal was not something that Mom wanted there were always the standard food choices. On a few days when she was not well meals were brought to her. She did not have to seek the staff out for this, they made it their business to ensure she received whatever it was that she wanted to eat. I sure hope the kitchen staff and servers are well compensated!The nursing staff was superb. During Moms medical intake interview she was made to feel welcomed and comfortable. The staff needed to know her medical conditions and her mobility abilities, so they could make an individual plan for her. This was her home and NOT a facility. She had choices on how she was going to continue with her medications. Self controlled and administered, staff controlledandselfadministeredstaffcontrolledandstaffadministered….you get the idea. We liked the idea that staff would check on her if they had not seen her in a while or if she had not come for a meal. (This was paramount later for her.)The entire administrative staff was wonderful. Everyone was very helpful. If ever a question we may have had did not fall under their area of expertise they would go out of their way to find us an answer or personally bring us to a person who could help us. Everyone in this community is warm, friendly and outgoing!Mom was a bit apprehensive about her rent and how it all worked. With some gentle and kind guidance and much patience by the administration it was all explained many times until understood. She was private pay at first and then Medicare would come later. The library, computer area, hair dresser, exercise, activities and outings were sure to make her time at HW enjoyable. I see in the photos posted that a lot of cross generational time is being shared. I think that is wonderful. SO much can be learned by our youth while also engaging our seniors.Heritage Woods of Minooka is so close to our home that we were beyond excited to be able to spend more time withmom.Unfortunately Mom was not able to live out her days at Heritage Woods of Minooka. God had different plans. Seems he needed her home. We mourn for our loss but feel blessed that she was able to spend some of her last days in something new and exciting. I thank God that she was at HW. Had she been at her last residence she may not have lived out her last days and hours with the warmth, comfort and dignity that she deserved.I wish Heritage Woods of Minooka much success. Keep up the loving compassionate good work you have been providing.

Hi name is Nancy and I moved into Heritage Woods on June 24th. I love every minute of my time here. I am very impressed by this place. I love everybody that works here. They were so kind and so helpful with making this transition easier on me. Im really enjoying my life here and Im certain I will continue to do just that with the help of the caring staff that surrounds me. If ever I have any questions or concerns theyre always helpful and resourceful in a timely manner. In my opinion, the people that work here are very good at what they do and so kind. I really cant express any more of how wonderful I feel living here. Though this was a hard decision for me to make, it turned out to be one of the best decisions. Im so thankful because everyone has also been so kind to my daughter as well.
