My mother moved to the Heather's a few weeks ago. What started as a respite stay turned into a permanent move after we saw how well she was doing in her new environment. Not only did she adapt relatively quickly but she is thriving being amongst her peers and the caring staff. My initial call to Kathy was a rather desperate one as I had been caring for mom in our home for almost 3 years and injured my back. I could no longer provide the care and supervision she needed and my husband was now having to care for my mother and me. Kathy was very understanding and empathetic over the phone and immediately put me at ease. She said they had one spot open for respite and I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders. We met with Kathy and the ED Jennifer and the DON Julie and immediately knew this was the place for mom. We had our concerns, the main one being that my mother was no longer able to communicate in English - French being her native language. During mom's respite stay it soon became apparent that the language concern would not be an issue. The staff has gone above and beyond to make my mom feel welcomed and a part of the group. The staff posted in several places in the home, words and phrases translated from English to French and also communicate through gestures and body language. My husband and I visit often and not once has my mom asked about going home. I believe she feels this is her home now and she welcomes us like she is welcoming us to her home. It is really wonderful to see and experience. What I thought in my mind would be a difficult transition for us both turned out to be the best of both worlds for us all. My mother gets to be active and social amongst her peers and I get to be a daughter again, truly enjoying each other's company during our time together. Thank you to the management and care team at the Heathers for welcoming us into your home and hearts. I would also like to add that the communication has been top notch. From the day my mom moved in for respite I was receiving text, emails and pictures of how my mother was getting along in her new environment. The care team has also been exceptional in communicating changes in health and behavior. The people here are absolutely amazing!! My mom came to them but sadly and unexpectedly her illnesses progressed quickly. She lived there less than one month. However, she was treated with the utmost care and like she was one of their own. Everyone from the directors to the kitchen staff, will care for your family member as if they are a family member of the staff who work there. The communication with family is exceptional, too!

We were struggling with our mom’s Alzheimer's and the assisted living facility where she had been residing. She was not getting the care that she needed. If you aren’t on their Facebook page, I definitely recommend following it as you can stay up to date on all the fun things your loved ones are up to! The Heathers does such a wonderful job at making everyone feel at home! The staff is well trained and caring and the director is very on top of things, organized, helps you understand everything, and is such a down to earth and caring person. I definitely recommend giving this home a chance.

Mom has been a resident at the Heather’s now for about a month and a half now and in that time, I think she has participated in more activities than the entire 3 1/2 years she was at her previous assisted living facility. They really take the extra time to encourage her to participate in activities. The attention and care she is receiving at the Heathers is stellar. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff and the loving care that they provide. Mom is coming alive there. I haven’t seen her happier in years. Also, as a sidenote, she is eating much better. She actually likes the food. Yay! My heart is full and I am so thankful.

She has such great energy, love, passion and empathy with whoever she connects with. This is what industry leaders need and glad they chose to work together. Thanks for all you do. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer Bohyer through Kathy recently in a meeting. I was very impressed thereafter. Rather than get right to the point and discuss what services we offer, it started by asking about family and history in the industry. Talked about how potty training is going and the temper tantrum from our little ones. Felt like we have known each other for years. We lost track of time and went an hour before we actually started the ice breaker. I learned a lot about Jennifer and her leadership just by chatting away. She holds the higher standard and expects the best not only from her staff but from the resources she connects with to ensure her families and residents are getting what they deserve at their community. Both Kathy and Jennifer have amazing listening skills where families feel listened to during these transitions. They observe and take the necessary steps to make appropriate decisions on what type of care their loved one is needing. This is what care should be about. A hidden gem at The Heathers. If you’re looking for that family culture, feel like home vibe then come check them out. I Highly recommend this facility and team. We’re lucky to have met a business with the same values and vision.

Stunning homes! I had the pleasure of meeting with Kathy Biron who told me all about the history of the Heathers, informed me of the many services offered and gave me a full tour! I love how homey it is! It does not feel institutional at all. The rooms are really spacious and the homes are spotless inside. I have been to several senior living homes and it is always my pet peeve when the architecture does not appear to meet the needs of the average resident. At the Heathers, you can tell they did their research and made each home fully accessible. The bathroom floors slope to prevent water build-up, from the showers, on the floors and the sinks are built to allow someone in a wheelchair to get close enough. The meals are all made from scratch and the residents can order whatever they'd like. I love how much they encourage the residents to make the Heathers their home and engage in things such as gardening, games, reading, walking outdoors, and more. The staff are all very friendly and inviting and I love seeing their social media posts highlighting all the fun activities and excursions the residents and staff participate in! The Heathers are really innovative in what they offer and really accomodate the "whole person." Thank you for a wonderful time, Kathy!

Our Moms health declined quickly and we were looking for a close Memory care/Assisted living that would take her without interruption to her final day. The heathers was new and just opening there doors my Mom was welcomed with open arms. We were assured she could live out her days there. She spent 5 Months at the Heathers. Being the only resident at that time allowed us to visit with her in ways we couldn’t anywhere else or at home. She was treated with respect, every need was met including her eating crisis. We will always be grateful for the Heathers and their staff. Our story continues when one year later our Dad was unable to live at home any longer. There was no question in our minds, we called the Heathers and after working out some details we moved him in. It wasn’t an easy adjustment for him but the Heathers, his health team and family we worked through it and now he is very happy. The Heathers and their staff are outstanding. I can truly recommend this organization for long term and short term assisted living with the capacity to support hospice care. My mother had an extremely challenging year with a cancer diagnosis and prognosis that was not favorable. When it came time to provide care beyond my capabilities and the capability of the people around her, we sought after an assisted living facility. After hitting one barrier after another I finally stopped over at The Heathers. I was greeted promptly, walked around the facility by the head chef as I was a non scheduled visit but he was willing, I was then allowed a meeting and within a day had two people from their leadership team out to assess my mother at her temporary rehab facility. It was less than a week turnaround and mom had her home. It was so reassuring to have mom in a place that provided the care she both needed and deserved. The level of personalized care was unmatched to anything I’ve experienced before and it was the people that made the difference. Although mom did not have long, the people were touched by her and I can say that she was touched by them. When mom was going through the final stages of life, the level of care climaxed. All the way to adding staff so that Mom would not be in any discomfort for what would be her final night. The Heathers had a place in my heart and will be my first recommendation for my friends whenever their loved ones need an assisted living that has a home like feel and staff that truly care. This is one of the world’s best kept secrets.My husband has been at this home away from home for three weeks now. It was a very difficult decision but I couldn’t be more pleased. The caregivers treat all the residents as if they were their own family, memory care residents and assisted living all mingle together, they watch out and care for each other. They all are loved. The food is great also and the facility clean and lovely. I recommend it highly.

Our mom moved into The Heathers Senior Home in Lake in the Hills in December of 22 and it has truly been a blessing. Her home is beautiful and the attention to detail and design provide a safe environment while still very warm and homey. Her caregivers, nursing staff and the rest of the folks are all wonderful and mom always says how nice everyone is. They communicate and keep us updated and send pictures of mom. They have great activity schedule and fun themed meals/ days. Mom always looks nice and especially loves that they do her nails every week. The Heathers has taken off the care giving responsibility and let us be family again. Visits with mom are great whether we hang out at her home, go to bingo or run to the store. Our situation was difficult as we moved mom from Arizona to Illinois and I was always worried if I made the right decision....I don't wonder anymore because mom is thriving.

Our family is very pleased with the staff and accommodations at the Heathers. My mother in law had a very hard month leading up to her moving in (she had a fall at her other assisted living facility, hospitalization, going to a rehab to get stronger and her husband of 66 years passing away). That is a lot for anyone to bear, but adding dementia to the mix makes it near impossible. The staff at The Heathers greeted her with love and compassion, especially when she was struggling with not knowing where she was and why she was there. They send us photos of all the activities she engages in daily, and the food prepared by the chef looks delicious! We love the small population of residents and feel that her care has been excellent. She is thriving! The staff has gotten her to do things that she had given up on, like coloring, playing bingo, playing games and singing! It’s so nice to see her smiling and have a sparkle in her eyes again!

It's a nice looking place, but has serious limitations caring for Alzheimer's patients. Among them are lack of qualified staff, inability to bring in a physical therapist, inability to adjust medications through visiting doctors. If someone needs assisted living with minimal care, this place will work. If your loved one has dementia, I would NOT recommend. I took my wife to another local establishment and had none of the issues I had with this place.

Our family is so happy to have found The Heathers, If you are reading this, you are looking for the perfect place for your loved one. After considerable consideration of other facilities, we chose The Heathers. We wanted a facility that was: 1. Most importantly, a provider of excellent care. The care here has been excellent. They have taken extra steps to make sure my mother is happy, safe, clean and healthy. For us, the respect they show for my mother means so much. 2. Aesthetically pleasing and clean. The Heathers is well designed and appointed. We knew my mother would like the bright hallways and open spaces, similar to those that she had in her own home. There is an abundance of natural light with windows and skylights which provides spacious and welcoming settings. The decor is also beautiful and fresh. 3. Excellent with communication. We regularly hear from the director, nurses and CNAs with photos, updates, and personal communication regarding mother's status. 4. Great Staff: Prior to discovering The Heathers, my mother was at another facility. There were some staff members that we were confident with, while some were not performing up to our expectations. At The Heathers every staff member we have dealt with has acted with a level of professionalism which is comforting. I have had the opportunity to observe how the staff interacts with other residents and it is evident that the management treats the staff with respect and working there is a good experience. This has been a stressful time for my mother and for us, her family. She is happy and takes pride in her new home. Her outlook on life is good. We are encouraged with The Heathers care and hope that the reader seriously considers this fine facility.

In anticipation of the Ringwood-based home opening for occupancy, The Heathers have been caring for my 89 year old mother. We are proud to say she will be Resident #1 in the home! During this time their caregiver has given amazing care and Mom just loves her. We have also had multiple visits by owners, management, and medical staff. In conjunction with a visiting Advocate nurse, The Heather's staff have been able to turn around a Stage 2 pressure wound in record time! They also are super diligent about making sure that the various treatments align with the medical situation. During this time we also had a bit of a scare from Mom reacting poorly to a new medication prescribed by her primary care physician. The Heather's caregiver sounded the alarm and convinced her to give up that medication (along with my own voice in agreement.) Mom was putting all of her confidence into her physician, who has not seen her in person in over 8 months! Only those closest to her know her mannerisms and when something is not right? The new medication was obviously messing with her entire system, The Heather's caregiver recognized that, brought in my and their lead medical person's attention, and worked with me (the family) on next steps. We can't wait for the Ringwood home to open. My husband and I toured the building and grounds under previous management and we know that the home is just that; a home. It was built when my mother moved out to the area and I think she even knew the owners a long time ago. To this day it continues to feel like the the REAL home that it has always been; not a "facility" at all. We hope that The Heathers can quickly fill this home with some great residents for my Mom. She is fun, funny and loves a good conversation and game of poker. If you're loved one joins her at Ringwood, bring your poker chips (or spare change!) I, personally, look forward to helping to build the residents' family experience. What can we all do together to make The Heathers Ringwood feel like a home for everyone who touches it (residents, staff and family alike?) What a unique opportunity to be part of this from the ground up....speaking of which, the gardens are great and in need of some TLC. Who wants to join me in making them even better next Spring?! In the meantime, looking forward to a cozy winter for my Mom, in a home filled with love and caring.

I had the pleasure of attending an open house at The Heathers Senior Living. I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised with my emotion. I have been in this industry for over 25 years and have been marketing to senior living facilities; independent, assisted and skilled nursing. I have come to not set my expectations very high regarding atmosphere and care. I say my emotion overcame me because I was greeted by a village of family members. This is a family run and operated business. The concept I learned surrounding the idea behind opening the Heathers was built on their grandmother being in an independent facility. There they had a good experience but felt it lacked the family atmosphere. This is what The Heathers has definitely fostered. The buildings are well rounded. The atmosphere is warming and serene. I would recommend The Heathers because for me I feel like it is La Familia-a place I can call home.
