Outpatient blood work review: I’m years into recovery , and the most important part of today was that it was the FIRST time someone was able to get my blood IN YEARS!!!!! She listened to my fears, checked on me every step of the way, apologized when she had to use tender areas, and treated me with incredible kindness and compassion. All I can say is RiverSide, ST James/Franciscan Alliance, and Advocate Healthcare are all death palaces. It is true that anything outside of Orland Park and Munster, IN is a medical wasteland. Had my sister-in-law go here for obvious chemical burns, an allergic reaction, and a swollen face and airway. They said she needed to see a dermatologist. I have worked in Hazmat for years including as an emergency responder. I know what chemical burns look like. I know what side effects of chemical exposure look like. I advised her to go to Rush or University of Chicago where there are decent doctors. Knowing this place, they will charge an arm and leg for doing nothing. Anything south / west of chicago is a medical joke.

The entire team on every ward my wife has been on have been fantastic throughout my wife stay. Not one complaint about any of the care provided. We would highly recommend this organization.

Riverside staff are very polite, they care about everyone’s lungs breathing fresh air, they have soap inside the dispensers inside of every shower always with shower curtains upon no request as the default, they provide a safe roof over everyone’s head, fresh linen for ALL to wear & NEVER let ANYONE from staff to patients who are patience with patients have a hungry stomach, they allow all to watch a movie or two every day, they don’t play mind games or rage bait games with ANYONE, ALL the staff there have REAL home training when it comes to morals & having true integrity displayed always. If I didn’t know any better I’d say John Hopkins hospital was training them to be the next best hospital in the country because their service is SOOOO GREAT & UNFORGETTABLE. Riverside hospital is the best in the WHOLE COUNTY OF KANKAKEE& always will be™•

I honestly cannot say enough good things about my experience at Riverside during one of the scariest health situations I’ve ever gone through. I came into the ER around 2AM in excruciating pain, terrified and unsure of what was happening. Within minutes, I was being seen. From the very beginning, every staff member treated me with patience, compassion, and urgency. The nurses in the ER were incredible. Even while I was overwhelmed and in severe pain, they stayed calm, reassured me constantly, and made me feel safe. Nobody made me feel dismissed. They explained everything clearly, kept me informed about my tests and bloodwork, and I never once felt in the dark about my care. Once admitted, the care somehow became even better. My room was clean and comfortable, and there was always someone checking in on me. The nurses, CNAs, techs, phlebotomists, and even the food staff were all kind, attentive, and professional. I especially want to recognize Nurse K, Dr. Rasha Issa, and Dr. Steven Groene. Dr. Issa was warm, compassionate, and reassuring throughout my stay. Dr. Groene impressed me with his honesty and patience. I appreciated that he did not rush me into surgery and instead carefully monitored my condition, discussed options openly, and made me feel like every decision was truly in my best interest. Thankfully, I was able to heal without surgery because of the care approach they took. Before discharge, leadership staff and a case manager also made sure I fully understood my care plan and felt comfortable leaving, which showed how much this hospital truly values patient care. From the ER to discharge, Riverside made one of the hardest couple days of my life feel manageable. I felt genuinely cared for every step of the way, and I’m incredibly grateful to every person who helped me during my stay.

My mother was emitted on March 31. She fell and fractured her hip in two places. The staff was caring and attentive to her pain and needs. This is not the first time she was in Riverside Hospital and every time the staff, nurses, doctors and cna gave her excellent care.

During my pregnancy, I had went into the ER with horrible flank pain that had me in tears. They did an ultrasound with my history of kidney stones, and said they didnt see any stones and sent me on my way despite being in severe pain and also 35 weeks pregnant.. I left and was in deliberating pain. My husband drove me up to Prentice at Northwestern where they admitted me for a week because I had 3 kidney stones, and was currently passing one.. The night we came home after having our son, he was crying so bad, and this was before we knew he wasnt latching correctly therefore not getting much/any milk..The hospital didnt give us any pacifiers, and we couldnt find anywhere that was open to buy one. Being extremely desperate for help, I called labor and delivery/postpartum and asked if I could pick up a pacifier. They declined and said word for word, "We can't just pass out supplies to people on the street", even after I offered to pay for it! It caused me severe stress, my blood pressure was at 170/110, I ended up driving up north again and got diagnosed that same evening with post partum preeclampsia... Then a few days later, my son was admitted to peds for severe jaundice.. He was there for a week. I was so drained, and the nurses encouraged me to step outside to get some air. Upon returning, I had to sign in at the security desk since it was after hours and the security guards began to make fun of my babies last name.. I was so stressed, and exhausted, and walked away in tears. It was 100% unprofessional and disrespectful. Then after returning to my son's room, he was somehow almost sideways in the NICU box screaming with his diaper half off, as if no one checked on him while I was gone! I pressed the call light 3 times, and it took over 15 minutes for someone to respond. So I felt I couldnt leave the room ever again. I could keep going with experiences, but Id be here awhile. Ive only had a few good experiences with a couple doctors and nurses here but most times its a hit or miss. Id like to believe in this place, but it has caused me so much trauma and has lost my trust. I hate giving 'bad' reviews, its not my thing, but I do believe this place can/should undergo some serious changes.

This was my family's first experience with Riverside Hospital. My mom was admitted for pneumonia and several other issues. This is the best hospital she has been in over the last couple years! If we didnt know where something was, a staff member walked us to where we needed to be. The staff on 5th floor east was amazing! From the nurses, techs, drs and custodial staff, my mom was treated professionally and kindly. When she was transferred to 3rd floor MICU, treatment was top notch and a special recognition should be given to her nurse Kaitlyn! She took great care of my mom and was just so kind and nice to the rest of our family! We will definitely utilize Riverside if needed in the future. I have told many of my friends and family what a great experience we had.

The last three time over a year my husband by choice went to riverside ER to have emergency care! All three times he has had excellent care! A few weeks ago he was admitted to imcu for 12 days again excellent care!

At least you took the time to listen to me let me explain how other professionals told me what to do and that's why I was doing it unlike the other person there I talked to wanting to fuss and argue with me and then tell me I'm being combative. thank you Miss Lady you definitely have the right job definitely. Some people work in fields for the money. You are there for the love of the patient first and the money second I love that in you. Currently in the hospital for some medical treatment. I have a pretty heavy bone infection. I pressed the button on my remote for "pain" and a CNA came in asking "did you need anything?" I'm yeah, my right leg is starting to hurt and its gonna go quick when the last pain pill fully wears off. She didn't inform my nurse, or any nurses for that matter. 5 after 2 Danielle came in and I expressed why I was irritable (among other things the workers under me making hella noise keeping me awake. Normally I have a fantastic review for RIVERSIDE but this time around laziness and people without common sense cause a 3 star review. Idc if the cna is new, you should find my nurse OR the charge nurse and let them know I need something.

My husband was treated for a stroke in the emergency room, admitted to the hospital and then spent 13 days in the rehab unit. Every single staff member in every department was professional, compassionate and so kind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hospital to family and friends.

I was in Riverside Medical Center for 12 days after a trauma accident to my leg. From the ER staff to the surgical staff to force floor rehab, and all of the occupational and physical therapists, they were all wonderful. Every area that I saw in the hospital was spotless. Even the dietitians that brought my food trays were friendly and happy. It was a very unpleasant 12 days physically, but the staff at Riverside was absolutely amazing. Everyone was always upbeat and helpful and just made the experience the best it could be under the circumstances

I was seen today and was treated very rudely by a ultra sound tech , but another Nurse Kevin Alvarez came in and handle me with care and apologize for any inconvenience , was very helpful, check on me several times and made my stay so much better . People have no clue how much it makes a difference when you have a positive attitude and treat people with respect and hospitality . Very grateful thank you Kevin Alvarez .

I had 2 babies here and I loved my experience. Maris was my nurse for my first baby, she was very kind and attentive, she actually still recognized me when I went into labor with my second. Jordan was my nurse for my second baby and she was AMAZING, she basically delivered my daughter because she came unexpectedly while my OB was tending to another patient. She even came to visit me and the baby in the postpartum unit the next day. I won’t forget either of them, they both took great care of me and made me feel valued during my stay. You can tell they really care about their patients. I just had another baby at a different hospital, I was expecting to have him at Riverside but things changed and I’m actually disappointed I didn’t get to come here again!! Riverside is the place to go!

I gave birth to my daughter here and the experience was okay. Not all of the doctors and nurses here are the best but the good ones deserve a five star rating. The lactation consultants are amazing and helped me through questionable times. One of which I still keep in touch with. My only disappointment and is that they did not allow recording for my birth. During the moment, I did not have the energy to put up a fight but I am pretty upset that I was prohibited from doing so.

The only reason I’m giving two stars is because of the patient care. Otherwise, we were put into a room ER room that very clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Someone’s urine sample was on the table and there was blood on the floor. We weren’t taken out for it to be cleaned, they just grabbed the urine sample, and left the blood until I said something a second time.
