I came to Deer Path of Huntley just 12 weeks ago, and right at the start I began to realize it stands out from all the others I have been familiar with. From the awesome staff and the move in process right down to the kitchen employees and the food- Deer Path rocks! These people really care about us resident’s quality of living, and I am happy to call Deer Path home.

December 2018
I was invited for one of their events, it was a 70s disco party, and it was an amazing night. There was a band that treated the place like it was an arena, the residents and friends were dressed up and everyone had a great time. I was truly impressed by Steve who hosted the incredible night, he was getting pictures of everyone, dancing and making sure every single person there had the time of their life. Huge kudos to everyone that works there. I was welcomed as I walked through the door and treated with respect all night long. The residents were upbeat and had me dancing til my feet hurt. I cant wait till their next event, Ill be there.

I have been living at Deer Path for almost 2 years. When I came here, Id been out of supportive living for a bit. It didnt take me long to re-adjust to things Id done in other settings. I discovered that I could be a major part of the community by helping out with various activities, events. I love doing my part to make this place better for anyone who isnt used to not working or being in a community atmosphere. I enjoy helping the staff come up with ways of welcoming new residents to our community. I hope I can work with our new marketing genius to improve the stereotype-- breaking the disability barrier, showing outsiders that having a disability can be a positive thing because you can do whatever you put your mind to when you think off the beaten path.

Deerpath means family. From the residents to the CNA’s to the management. We get to know the residence on a personal level, enjoy their personalities and taking care of them. The facility itself is beautiful, clean and very inviting. The meals that are served three times a day, are well-balanced, nutritious and taste delicious. Plus you get snacks. Everyone is very approachable and are hand-picked for the positions they hold. If you have not visited Deerpath at Huntley, you should take a few minutes of your time and do so, you will not be disappointed.

Deer Path of Huntley is a great place because of its kind staff and friendly residents. This place makes everyone feel comfortable and welcoming.

I brought my brother to Deer Path of Huntley for a tour yesterday. His back pain has become unmanageable and he can no longer live on his own. He can’t handle daily activities like making the bed doing laundry vacuuming etc. as you can probably imagine chronic pain that severe can make you feel pretty down. Shortly after arriving, as our wonderful hostess and tour guide Sarah brought us around, I noticed that John was sitting up straighter and looked better and more alive than I have seen him in a couple of years. There was interest and hope in his eyes. But it’s no wonder because the place is bright and friendly and loaded with activities to do. Two of the residents even stopped and told my brother that he would not regret coming there. For myself, I am relieved beyond believe that there is a place for my brother where he could be happy and well taken care of...I even see the potential for him improving!

I moved into Deer Path exactly two months ago today. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I had lived in another Supportive Living Facility before I moved to Deer Path for almost two years. There is absolutely no comparison. The minute I first walked in the building to interview, I could see and feel the difference. The lobby is spacious and beautiful, with a tall, stone fireplace that goes up three floors. And there is a lounge on every floor surrounding the fireplace. But Deer Path is not just a cosmetic, esthetic change. The staff is supportive, the residents are friendly, and the food has entrees you actually want to eat. There are activities for all interests, and the Deer Path staff wants input to plan more. And that’s another great thing. You feel like you are appreciated and welcome here. And the staff truly cares about your living experience. And my personal experience has been nothing but positive. You can’t go wrong with Deer Path.

DeerPath is a place that serves a community forgotten about by most. Young people, ages 22 to 64 , who want to live, laugh, dance and feel good about life despite the challenges their body is giving them. I have never been around a community of young spirited, disabled people who have inspired me so much. This community is amazing with residents and staff that really care about each other.I would describe it as resort style living with an exceptional restaurant type food selection and activities that match a cruise ship! There is an upbeat energy that lives in Deer Path- stop on by and you’ll feel it. Almost 100% of the people that walk through the door, disabled or not… say the words, I could live here! That is entirely what makes Deer Path stand out!

I had my first experience with Deer Path of Huntley when I attended their recent Disco Night party. The event was well attended by both in-house residents as well as family and friends who stopped by to join in on the fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy the energy of the band and reminiscing while listening to disco tunes from the past. Varying levels of mobility didnt stop anyone who wanted to from getting out on the floor to dance.Marketing Director Steve Amella worked diligently on promoting this event and most assuredly has other enjoyable activities planned for the future.Marketing Directer Steve Amella works

This is a wonderful place to work and also for others to live. We have a luxury of living independent but also have CNAS here to help with anything you could need. This is such a rewarding place to work. I would highly recommend deerpath for anyone to work and also to make their home.

Deer Path is great.

Deerpath of Huntley, is the best place ive had the chance to work for. What makes it amazing is that were all one big family, from the staff to the management to the residents. The activities that they have here will keep you busy and smiling. The food is great, as well as nutritious theres something for everyone always. The environment is warm and friendly & youll feel that right when you walk through the front doors. Its not your typical facility, its for young people with disabilities who still have a lot of living left to do & living here makes that possible with services that they need to keep on growing as an individual. 10, 10, would recommend this place to anyone ages 22-64 with a disability looking for a place to live more independently while having a clear mind that someone is always there to help you when you need it.

DeerPath is my new home. It took almost 9 months to call it home, but you can not love people who are so kind and supportive in their own ways. I have found a new patience in me that I did not know I had. A new Empathy I never had to use before, and an explosive laugh at life that happens when a fork goes flying through the dining hall with the meatball attached, because the resident missed the mark in cutting it in half. I am a teacher of nearly 50 years, but am a student in a class of life that I never knew Id be in. It has taken all I have to do well and achieve a modicum of success. Ive never been so proud of anything in my life. Thank you Bill Wade for finding this place, and thank you to Mary, Tracey and Pie for supporting me here. I have finally figured out that Home is not a PLACE I need to be, but rather part of a group of people I need to be around. So, I continue to be homesick, but am safe and happy in a community of people who get it - and let me and Ruby into their lives as well. I found out that homesickness is not specific ailment that addles me alone, but a part of life that we all share together, It took me 50 years and 127 people to teach me that. At lease I did not need Summer School.

Before I moved in, friends told me that Deer Path is the 5 star resort of Assisted Living. Thats nice, I thought, but I need to see it. From the moment I stepped into their lobby, the magic began for me. It not only looks like a five star resort, it feels like a five star resort. I was instantly relaxed. Chicago tension leaving my body. The first floor was big and spacious. It actually began as we drove into this lovely Dynasty kind of driveway culminating into pink rose bushes. A beautiful, welcoming garden. Not that Ive been here a week and a half, the magic continues. The dining experience is fantastic. From the lovely Cathedral ceilinged dining room to the beautiful decor and view of the patio and gazebo, to the fine dining menu with food that never disappoints. The residents are friendly and lovely. The staff goes the extra mile to be helpful and supportive. Whats not to like? When I walked out of Deer Path with my boyfriend, he looked at me and said, they make it hard not to move in. And, I couldnt think of one reason not to. I still can not.

I love my residents. They keep each and everyday interesting and exciting. You cant find a group like this. They maybe 22-64 with a physical disability but they have a lot of heart and sole. Each and every resident has the possibility to be the best they can be with the assist of our special and loving staff. We are just not a facility, community... we are family.
