I toured Sunrise of Gurnee with Tammy. She was very knowledgeable about the community and all that they offered. I also got to meet their community dog "Cubbie"! The residents seemed very happy and well cared for. The community was also very clean and inviting. I really liked the "home like feel" that this community offered. I would highly recommend Sunrise of Gurnee if you are looking for assisted living or memory care options in the Gurnee area.

Today Monday March I visited Sunrise and I was very well received by everyone and I commend especially Ms. Tammy the Director of sales ( as well as by Teresa (Director of Nursing ), Pam in-the dining facility ( who offered me a delicious lunch), Daniel in Care coordination and in fact all with whom I came into contact with. Tammy in particular took time away from her busy schedule to formulate a quote for living at Sunrise.I wish I could afford the handsome units she displayed but currently- as I await the proceeds of a Personal injury lawsuit the Monthly payment was outside my budget but Tammy supplied me with the names of several properties hopefully within my current budget. For those currently more fortunate than I, I think Sunrise would be a great place. Thank you- jpg

The food is worse than cafeteria quality. It's all frozen and reheated despite how expensive the rent is. The only fruit the residents get is cantaloupe, canned peaches, and canned pineapple. The head chef cuts corners and speaks rudely to employees and does not care about resident satisfaction

Sunrise in Gurnee is terrific. Everyone is caring and helpful. My dad has been there going on 6 years. He just celebrated his 100th birthday. Sunrise put on a great party and the staff and residents celebrated with us. Highly recommended.

Wonderful facility! Caring, kind, compassionate staff at all levels. Fabulous food with lots of options. Fun activities offered everyday all day longexercise class, walking club, word games, musical entertainment, movies, holiday celebrations. Resident dog, loved by many. Special care shown to each resident giving them purpose and passion for the community in which they live. So grateful for Sunrise Gurnee! I have 2 family members living there.

Sunrise of Gurnee was home for two of our family members in their final years. For eight years we visited on a daily basis and found the quality of care consistently outstanding for all the residents with whom we came in contact. The staff was always responsive to our concerns/requests. They provided a stimulating and caring environment, and made safety and protocol adherence top priorities. We highly recommend this facility!

The staff at Sunrise of Gurnee was very accommodating with a number of unexpected issues that arose when trying to transfer my mom to this facility. It was a great collaboration, and everyone was extremely helpful on move-in day when my mom suffered a medical emergency and needed emergency transportation. Everyone worked well with me to see that my mom got the needed care. The staff are helpful and pleasant to work with and very patient!

My mother is in the memory care area and I cannot be more satisfied with the level of care and comfort the staff brings to my family and my mom. The independence that my mom still can have in her apartment helps ease her anxiety and make it easier for me knowing she can still live safely.

Loved ones/next of kin/POA all live out of state. Sunrise of Gurnee took time to make a place for our loved one before we actually needed it. They consistently communicated changes that were happening with our loved one once they moved in. Their sense of "family/love" was always present in the way they acted and made suggestions. They helped in so many ways that no one else was able to. They listened when I addressed concerns. Their presence in the last 4 months of life was irreplaceable.

The staff are what makes Sunrise better than most other facilities. They are consistently professional, kind, hard-working, helpful, and friendly. No task is too small or too large for their assistance. Our Directress is an effective team leader, who keeps everything running smoothly. She is a kind, wise, empathetic woman whose door is always open to residents and staff. My dog and I have been here for 4 years and enjoy life in this comfortable home.

My Mom has spent the last year in the Reminiscence Program.. She has had great care. The staff is caring and friendly. They treat the residents with respect. There are many activities for her to participate in.

My mother has lived at Sunrise of Gurnee for just over a year. While she started in the assisted living section, she now resides in the Reminiscence Center (memory care). In both areas, Sunrise excels in providing excellent care for both her physical and emotional needs. Since she moved in, I have not had any concerns about her well-being as I have full confidence in their staff's commitment and capabilities. I know she is in the best place for the care she needs. Their activity planning for the residents is excellent, with a lot of diverse opportunities for participation. Their dining service is also excellent, with a good variety of choices that are always fresh and delicious. Communication is very good regarding conditions affecting the community as well as those directly related to her care. I fully recommend Sunrise to anyone in search of a supporting assisted living community.

I went on a tour and was impressed with the overall energy and feel of the place. Warm, cozy, homey. Residents seems happy and engaged in various activities. It was very clean, Covid protocols were excellent. The pricing can end up on the higher side, depending on the level of assistance that the resident would need, but is not worse than other assisted living facilities. The rooms I was able to see were small, but I did not see the larger studio or the 1BR "apartment" like suite as they were all occupied. Wrigley is the Yellow Lab that greets people, which was a happy little bonus. Overall, seems like a great place for my parent to spend their sunset years if needed.

Sunrise has far surpassed my expectations! My mother moved into their Reminiscent program (Memory Care) last December. The staff is very supportive, caring, and happy to work there with the residents. My mom is now social everyday doing activities she enjoys- baking, crafts, embroidering, playing games, parties, planting seeds, exercising, going to church, etc. I appreciate the monthly cards I receive from the staff sharing how my mom is doing, and the special Sunrise App on my phone that gives me pictures and videos of my mom enjoying these programs! Kimberly and Kyle have been a pleasure to work with. They have made Sunrise a wonderful community!

I am an EMT in the area. I just wanted to thank this place for their care, how they conduct themselves and for prioritizing needs of residents. I teared up dropping off our patient because the energy is uplifting and you can tell they WANT to be there. Best assisted living I have seen yet, highly recommend taking your loved ones here. Think carefully before placing your loved ones underneath the care of others.

WE moved my Mom to Sunrise of Gurnee in August of 2019. Prior to this she was living semi independently with her sister in Northern Wisconsin. Since the day of Moms arrival Kimberly and her entire staff have worked tirelessly to make Mom feel at home and part of the Sunrise family. When Covid reared its head they upped their game even further by taking all the necessary precautions while working to keep the residents, healthy, well-fed, and entertained. When we take Mom out for a ride in the countryside and she begins to tire we smile when she says she has had a big day and is ready to go "home". Knowing that she feels that way about Sunrise says it all. Did I mention that Mom will be 105 years old this year?

We are so grateful for the entire staff at Sunrise. For the past two years our friend Jack (91 yo) was well taken care of and loved by everyone. It is a hard time of life, but they provided him with care, love, dignity and respect. Jack enjoyed the food, the staff, bingo night, our ability to bring our dog to visit, exercise class and many other things at Sunrise. Both the staff, administration and the environment were 5 stars. I would strongly recommend Sunrise to anyone with a loved one that needs assisted living. Thanks again to Kimberly and her team at Sunrise of Gurnee!
