My husband and I visited many senior living communities. After visiting Oak Trace, we knew at once this was the place that would meet our needs for our remaining days. Right now we live in the Independent Living option. Oak Trace has the options of assisted living, skilled nursing care, memory care, and rehab units that will meet our future needs if needed. We enjoy great food, with a diverse menu and a cheerful wait staff. If we need help with a personal need or our unit, our support staff really listens and finds a way to help solve our problem. Because many of our everyday chores and maintenance are taken care of by Oak Trace staff, we are able to enjoy many various on and off campus activities and great entertainment with the other senior residents. Oak Trace offers a wide variety of social activities that meet many interests -- you can choose to participate, just watch, or enjoy the solitude of your own living quarters. We look forward to engage with the new friendships we've made and the enjoyment of living at Oak Trace.

I really feel the employees really care and they made me feel most comfortable. The CNA’s, nurses and especially Edie, the evening RN, were exceptional with their care. They were kind and caring during my 15 month stay there. I will miss my good friends, the activities, the entertainment and the food as well.

My mother was approved for rehab at Oak Trace. I visited the facility. It was everything we were looking for. We are excited about the transition. Oak Trace found out that she needed a series of injections in her knee which would provide stability and allow her to benefit from rehab. We offered to cover the cost of the shots ($1600). They said medicare would not allow us to pay. The day she was scheduled to move the reneged on the placement and we are now scrambling to find another placement. We found 2 other facilities that will cover the cost but not geographically convenient. They say they are a non-profit but operate more like a for profit corporation. Beware!

We have a vibrant community of seniors engaged in doing all there is to make life fun, active, and satisfying while giving up many of the everyday cares and chores that take up so much of the day maintaining a place for yourself. We have great food, with a diverse menu. Our support staff is terrific and helpful. We have more to choose from in social activities and well run programs than can ever be done -- if your choose to join in, just watch, or enjoy the solitude of our campus.

My mother has lived at Oak Trace for 5 years - 4 years in the Independent apartments and 1 year in Catered Living. She also has been in rehab twice since moving in. We have been extremely happy with our experiences and quality of life, independence and care. The entire staff is focused on the safety, comfort and happiness of each person who lives at OakTrace - from the restaurant team, maintenance team, the wonderful front desk team, social workers and the nursing teams. I know my mother is safe and happy, and has people who care about her caring for her each day. The entire team made mom's move to Catered Living an easy transition - I can't say enough about the Catered Living team! We are so grateful to have a wonderful option in our community to give our parents a great life and independance in a beautiful and safe environment! Thank you!

My dad was at Oak Trace for around 4 months. In that time, he was cared for so well! I saw staff feed him, patiently talk to him and hold his hand, and change soiled clothing immediately. My mom was there to help care for him everyday. She was also treated quite well. When my dad was in the hospital and returned to Oak Trace, the staff greeted us by hugging and kissing both of my parents. This proved to me that the staff that works directly with the patients genuinely care, they go the extra mile, and this is more than a job to them. My dad passed away last week. My mom and I know that he got the best care he could receive. We would both wholeheartedly recommend Oak Trace in Downers Grove.

I have had a very good experience at Oak Trace and I have lived here many years. Everyone helps me when I need it, and where I live is called Catered Living. The food is good, and there are many things to do that are fun and entertaining.

My mom has been an Oak Trace catered living resident for 4 1/2 years. She regularly tells me how much she likes living there. I appreciate the fact that the staff - healthcare professionals, activities directors, dining room and maintenance staff, and other support personnel - are caring individuals who all have made an effort to know my mom. They understand her needs, interests, and limitations and work toward making her days as active and fun as possible. She is always treated with dignity and respect. The nurses keep me well informed about my mom's physical and mental health status and always call if anything unusual comes up. It gives me peace of mind knowing that she lives in such a caring environment.

I moved my 95 year old father into Oak Trace Catered Living today after 9 weeks of rehab from pneumonia, which was at Oak Trace, and 3 weeks in a step down room. I have never regretted my decision. The staff is so caring and accommodating. The food is great (we had a dinner with my dad there). Talking to the residents, each one will tell you how much they like life at Oak Trace. If you have loved one needing care, this is the first place you should be looking at.

My parents moved into Oak Trace 8 years ago. They enjoyed the years they spent in independent living. Before his passing the care my dad received in the nursing home was excellent. Now, in catered living, my mother is receiving excellent care. This week she moved to a different room. Special thanks to both housekeeping and nursing and CNA staff during this transition, Thank you to Lore Lim, Marni, Georgianne, Sue, Jesus, Ivan, Josh, and Michael for their fine work.

My husband's grandmother is a resident and she has been in the vest care possible. It has been such a relief to know that she is constantly looked after compared to living on her own in a house she couldn't manage herself anymore. They have wonderful activities for the residents and our own dogs were able to participate in the dog show which brought a lot of joy to many of the residents there.

My father has Alzheimer's and he was allowed to stay with my mom on the first floor longer than I had expected him to be. This just shows what caring people work at Oak Trace. Thank you for being there for both my parents!!!!

It became obvious to me that the staff on the floors view this as much more than a job. My dad passed away a week ago. My parents reside at Oak Trace Retirement Community. They enjoy many activities and love the food, especially Sunday brunch. Everyone on the staff is helpful and friendly and know my parents by name. My siblings and I are happy our parents chose Oak Trace when they decided to move from their home. One of the reasons my parents chose Oak Trace is because they could receive all levels of care and never have to move again. They were told that there would be a new Health Center built because the current health center is 45 years old. They were pleased to see the plans for the new Health Center. They wish there was a better location for the Health Center so their friends dont have to move into the apartment building, but the plans make sense for the space at Oak Trace. The residents will be able to visit each other with a short covered walk if one of them is in the apartment building and the other is in the Health Center. My parents experience has been great at Oak Trace and as an adult child I couldnt ask for anything better for them.
