I have had the best top level quality experience here at Hickory Grill! The staffing is amazing. Our wonderfully , friendly host, Claudia sat us @ at a requested table going above and beyond because that’s what they do here very well. And Culinary Mary, as they have affectionately named her here Mary is a consummate professional and one who also looks out for her teammates Having a strong hospitality and sales background, I would work for Mary in a heartbeat as she is just an amazing manger, who moves with passion and care for all those around her, as well as the residents here at Oaktrace! Abraham was our server today who was absolutely helpful & attentiveThank you for employing such a brilliant team of excellent and talented individuals. My dad was at Oak Trace for hospice. He was well taken care of. Everyone is so nice and caring there. A special shout out to Stacey the CNA. She came into check in on my dad to make sure he was comfortable. Great lady!

Oak Trace has recently expanded and the culture of fun and excitement has grown exponentially. The people who live there are so interesting and connected to each other, and the larger community. The team, across all departments, all levels, are top notch because they anticipate peoples’ needs and do so with great creativity. If you’ve never stopped by, you have no idea what you’re missing and what a treasure there is to be found in Downers Grove!

Oak Trace has been wonderful in helping us take care of our parents who are 89 and 90. They moved into independent living about 2 years ago but my mom has had some falls which required more care. Recently I was in a panic as to what to do since she could not stay in her apartment pre surgery for a broken knee. The team quickly came up with the option to move her to temporary skilled nursing until surgery and I was sooo relieved. They made a tough situation easy! She stayed there until her surgery and moved back for her rehab care. I cannot say enough how great the staff is that helped me figure out a plan and the team that is taking great care of her until she can return to her own apartment. They make a tough situation so much easier and my mom is in great hands! I love that all this happens within one facility! Plus my dad can visit her daily. While the transition from their own home to this community was a tough one for my parents, it was really helped me and my family deal with this next chapter in my parents life!

My husband and I visited many senior living communities. After visiting Oak Trace, we knew at once this was the place that would meet our needs for our remaining days. Right now we live in the Independent Living option. Oak Trace has the options of assisted living, skilled nursing care, memory care, and rehab units that will meet our future needs if needed. We enjoy great food, with a diverse menu and a cheerful wait staff. If we need help with a personal need or our unit, our support staff really listens and finds a way to help solve our problem. Because many of our everyday chores and maintenance are taken care of by Oak Trace staff, we are able to enjoy many various on and off campus activities and great entertainment with the other senior residents. Oak Trace offers a wide variety of social activities that meet many interests -- you can choose to participate, just watch, or enjoy the solitude of your own living quarters. We look forward to engage with the new friendships we've made and the enjoyment of living at Oak Trace.

Living at Oak Trace for the past 7 months has truly been transformative. It has far exceeded my expectations. I worried that I was moving too soon or that it would be hard to make new friends. How wrong I was! Everyone I encounter every day (and it’s lots!) says hello and stops to chat as often as not. I have made more new friends here than in the past 20 years! The facilities are gorgeous inside and out. The interior is like a very high end hotel with lots of art work, beautiful lighting and comfortable and inviting seating. The setting is park like with lots of green and trees, a lovely walking path, fountains in the pond and even a bird sanctuary. There are so many engaging activities (and I’m not talking Bingo) that we have to choose among Murder Mystery Dinners, numerous games, lectures on Mozart, Betty Crocker and the Deep Sea Treaty, belly dancing, volunteering, bus trips all over Chicago-land and every form of exercise imaginable. I LOVE it here. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.

This is a great community! The facility is beautiful. The staff is excellent: friendly, efficient, helpful. The residents are outgoing and friendly. There are activities that will appeal to everyone. A wide variety of entertainment is available. If needed, various therapies are available right on site. We often compare it to being on a cruise where our every need is attended to with a smile.

I have been so impressed with this community since joining in January. The buildings and furnishings are absolutely stunning but even better than that are the people. Residents and staff members are so nice and embrace new residents with open arms.

I really feel the employees really care and they made me feel most comfortable. The CNA’s, nurses and especially Edie, the evening RN, were exceptional with their care. They were kind and caring during my 15 month stay there. I will miss my good friends, the activities, the entertainment and the food as well.

Beautiful retirement community! Filled with kind and loving staff members that cater to the needs of the residents and ensure they are a priority. Wonderful amenities, white tablecloth dinners for residents when they dine and they also offer severall fun-filled activities. Families can have ease of mind knowing there loved one is apart of the Oak Trace Community.

The staff at Oak Trace are remarkable in their help and concern for my aunt and our family! I was very reluctant in making the move for my aunt yet her doctors recommended a memory care facility as the next step in her care with vascular dementia. I had listened to negative reviews of the care received from other senior facilities. After viewing several facilities in nearby western suburbs I was most impressed with Oak Trace. Staff in Memory Care and the Billing Department were always approachable, knowledgeable and very kind. After a few years of residency I can honestly report that Oak Trace delivers all they promise...for our loved one...and our family!

I am a musician/entertainer and had the pleasure of entertaining the residents of Oak Trace for Mardi Gras this week. Thank you to the staff and residents for having us. This was my first time to Oak Trace. The facility and grounds are beautiful, clean and very well kept! The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. My 93 year-old mom is so happy at Oak Trace! My siblings and I have been impressed with the staff, accommodations, services, physical therapy, and activities offered. She started at Oak Trace in the Independent Living building and truly enjoyed every aspect of it. Last July she moved to Assisted Living and has felt very at home there. I love that the nurses and the CNAs work the same floors and have been there a long time, so they know my mom and her specific needs and personality. The front desk staff are very welcoming and helpful. The building is very fresh, bright and clean. My mom's 1 bedroom apartment has everything she needs, including a washer and dryer. The menu offered in the dining room is varied and delicious. I have to say, I smile every time I walk in the front door to that building knowing my mom is living a secure and good life..

My mother transitioned from Oak Trace Rehabilitation center one year ago to a resident in the Assisted Living apartments and we couldn’t be happier. The nursing that was provided in the rehabilitation center was amazing, the common areas are clean, and my mother was well taken care of. Now, as a resident in the Assisted Living apartments, we have been put at ease knowing my mother is very well looked after by the team members/staff, who are very kind and compassionate. From the moment you walk through the doors to the time you exit, everyone acknowledges you, are genuine and always have smiles on their faces. Thank you!

My parents have lived at Oak Trace in assisted living for over a year now. They are very happy. It is a beautiful and well maintained campus. The staff is wonderful and so helpful and kind. I cannot say enough good things about the caregiving team at Oak Trace. From the doctors and nurses to the front desk and food service staff, there is a terrific team at Oak Trace that cares about its residents.

Overall very pleased. Very lovely building with nice decor. Assisted Living apartments are perfectly sized and well appointed. Cleanliness is top notch. Staff is wonderful- very accommodating to each residents needs and routine. Very caring and compassionate. Variety of activities offered daily - something for everyone. Everyone there has been wonderful in helping navigate what is a difficult transition for both the residents and their families.

My father has been at Oak Trace in Assisted Living for close to a year. The CNAs and nursing staff are wonderful! They are very caring and competent, and he loves the way they fuss over him. The facility is spotless, and they keep everything smelling clean and fresh. The food is varied and good, and the wait staff are also very caring and empathetic. I have seen them patiently explaining the menu to people with cognitive decline who take a long time to place their order. My only disappointment has been that residents can't stay in Assisted Living if they need a modified diet. My dad's doctor recommended thickened liquids and a soft diet, which would have meant moving to the skilled nursing side. So my dad had to go on hospice in order to stay in his Assisted Living apartment and eat a normal diet. Other facilities I toured can accommodate modified diet in Assisted Living. My Mom was also there briefly, as she was dying, in the health care center where they provide skilled nursing care. Their coordination with her hospice provider was excellent and the nursing staff was very professional. I'm very glad I chose Oak Trace after visiting all the facilities in the area that include all three levels of care. It was the only one that contains all three (assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing) under one roof. I am also considering it for my aunt who needs Independent Living. Oak Trace has an already-excellent facility for independent seniors that will be greatly enhanced when they finish construction on their new facilities in December 2024.

What a great community! Recently, I had the privilege of spending some time with the residents and team members at Oak Trace. They were so welcoming and you could feel the sense of community and the connection the residents have with each other and Oak Trace as soon as you walk again. And with the construction project underway, the community will be even more amazing in the near future!

My dad stayed here for 6 weeks for short-term rehab. He can't speak any higher of the care that was received, and was so impressed he started asking about the possibility of living at Oak Trace full time in an apartment down the road. Personally, I was impressed as well. It is by far the cleanest facility that I initially toured, and they took extremely good care of him during the rehab stay. **Special shout-out to Victoria and Rose in short-term rehab. They were fantastic nurses who made my dad's stay more enjoyable.

My mother went into Oak Trace on Hospice care. We were private paying customers, at $423 per day. While I believe the facility is likely great for rehab or long-term stays- I would not select this facility for a patient in hospice. I do not feel the communication by their staff is adequate to actively care for their patients during their final weeks. The pros: The facility is spotless, free of odors, and the cleaning crews do a great job. The residents have exceptional meals and the food services workers are kind and polite. Activities are plentiful & they do try to engage their residents. Areas of Improvement: The arrival process was not good. Nobody met my mother at arrival. We were told to head up to her room. Nurses, CNA's and general staff had no idea she was on hospice or what her situation was. After several phone calls, and two hours later, we were finally met with someone from admissions. Staff was not aware my mother was on hospice for DAYS- even after we asked to ensure that this was communicated. Notes in the patient portal were not always accurate Doctors orders, such as wound care, were not always followed. My mother entered Oak Trace able to communicate, and with good cognitive function. Several times she asked for help to phone her family- the staff refused. It was not until we contacted administration were signs put up to assist her with contacting us. During her final days, she was actively dying. Staff would enter the room trying to feed her when she was unconscious. We would ask them to stop, as she was dying. CNA staff were not coming to turn her, provide mouth care, or check in on us. If we were present, they would not see what we needed. The facility also tried to administer a COVID booster the day she died. There seems to be a lack of awareness and empathy for individual situations.

My mother was approved for rehab at Oak Trace. I visited the facility. It was everything we were looking for. We are excited about the transition. Oak Trace found out that she needed a series of injections in her knee which would provide stability and allow her to benefit from rehab. We offered to cover the cost of the shots ($1600). They said medicare would not allow us to pay. The day she was scheduled to move the reneged on the placement and we are now scrambling to find another placement. We found 2 other facilities that will cover the cost but not geographically convenient. They say they are a non-profit but operate more like a for profit corporation. Beware!
