I live in Florida. My husband and I were in Chicago visiting friends, and the day before we were planning to fly home, I fell and broke a bone near my hip. After a few days at Northwestern Hospital, I was not well enough to fly home as I needed assistance and physical therapy. Luckily, I was able to get a room at The Clare. I cannot say enough about the care I received from everyone involved. Each person, both medical and administrative was kind, thoughtful and ready to help in any way they could. I highly recommend The Clare.

It's been 11 years since I posted a review on The Clare. Now, having lived in this community for those 11 years let me attest that this is a near perfect place to live. Moved here at age 68 and working full-time running a company, husband just ending his career in real estate (but not quite), we lived our life just as we had in our previous 19 years in Lincoln Park. Moving to The Clare doesn't mean "retiring to a nursing home" and if you wait until you are ready - which many people translate to "old and not able to be active anymore" - you are foolishly too late. Take advantage of this warm and welcoming community and be happy here in your active years with the city's many opfferings at your fingertips. A decision maker/breaker in any community like ours should be the food as you are going to be eating here for the rest of your life. Our chef and kitchen staff are award winning and our meals rival nearby restaurants without the pricetags. Eleven years here and we have not spent a day regretting our decision.

My time at the Clare was a wonderful experience. The staff could not have been nicer and very attentive. My PT and OT people helped me alot after I had back surgery and when I went home their suggestions for helping me recover were very helpful. The nurses kept me comfortable And managed my pain well. The food was very good and menus were varied. All in all my stay at the Clare was a good experience and I certainly would highly recommend them.

Living at The Clare means meeting new friends with interesting backgrounds, easy access to everything "Chicago," superb dining with delicious and varied menus, and very importantly, a wonderful staff who have helped, over many years, with everything imaginable. They are at the ready, knowledgeable and approach everything I've needed with a "can do" attitude. Living here gives peace of mind to me and my family! Additionally, 2024, people move to The Clare for community, friends, activities, excellent food and health care. We all hope to not have to access health care because we want to always stay healthy. However, things happen…short term and long term. I recently had a short term stay in skilled nursing and have high praise for the care. The staff took excellent care of me, met my needs and they are kind, caring and competent. The care component of the Clare is a large safety net for when it is needed. With high ratings, our Terraces are an exceptional facility in the city.

The Clare has been outstanding in the post surgical care of my husband. He has been there two months and will be in their care for at least one more. The staff, nurses, cna's, housekeeping, rehab specialists, administrative and even the cafeteria staff are well trained, professional and kind. The facility itself is wonderful. It's immaculate, cheerful, modern and private. There are many programs for patients and residents. We don't currently liive at The Clare but it would be the perfect choice for anyone retiring or downsizing or never wanting to worry about being alone in later years.

During his stay, everyone at The Clare (administrators, healthcare providers and support staff) provided both outstanding care for the resident patient and understanding care to address the many concerns of his family. Nikki Gamble (Life Enrichment Manager) takes meticulous care of programming making sure every tiny detail is perfect. She cares very very deeply about the residents and tends to their needs as if they were her own parents. She treats everyone with kindness, interest and deep respect. She is the epitome of class and sheer professionalism. On top of that, the facility is very clean and beautifully decorated. Nikki also makes sure that musical events are catered and the food is of very high quality. Compared with other senior residences, I give the Clare 5 stars!

The Clare is, arguably, Chicago's best senior residence. From the administrators to the nurses and caregivers, the staff has been kind and caring toward my mother. The resident care attendants (RCAs) in the assisted-living section bust their tails to help the residents. They respond promptly if my mother calls for assistance. They help her with bathing, dressing and other day-to-day needs. When my mother is uncooperative, or balks at accepting help, the RCAs have been very patient and considerate with her. The nurses, who work out of a station on the 13th floor, handle routine medical needs with aplomb, and call for additional medical attention promptly if my mother needs it. They are good at communicating with me about what is going on. That's especially important because I live a long distance from my mother. The Clare has in-house physical and occupational therapy, which has been a huge benefit for my mother. The PTs and OTs who have dealt with her have been real pros. Housekeeping and maintenance staffs seem excellent at The Clare. My mother's apartment has always been clean and the housekeeping staff has been efficient and quiet when I've been there. If maintenance is needed, the staff has come promptly. Like the RCAs, nurses, PTs and LOTs, these staff members have been patient, kind and professional, even if my mother can be demanding. The food at The Clare is very good. My mother favors their salmon dishes. The Clare has an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, hair salon, and ninth-floor restaurant with terrace, where my mother spends a lot of time socializing. The building is right by Water Tower. So my mother is blocks from the lake, from a multitude of stores and restaurants, and from the Museum of Contemporary Art. She is near the Northwestern Medical Center, where she has most of her doctor appointments. I have not moved my mother closer to me because, six years after moving to The Clare, she is so content. Now, some of her friends are starting to move there.

The Clare has been a fantastic place for my dad for physical rehab. The level of care has been superb, and all the rehab therapists have been wonderful. My dad broke his leg and had surgery on it and then went to The Clare. He went from being totally immobile and in a lot of pain while stationary to walking with some assistance in three weeks and only having some pain while exerting his leg. He's still got farther to go but the progress he's making has been great to see and the level of help he's gotten at The Clare has made me feel he's safe. I couldn't ask for more.

The Clare is truly fantastic! After my mother fell and broke her hip, we had her sent to Rush Hospital in Oak Park for surgery. Shortly after, she was transferred to The Clare for sub-acute rehab per the recommendation of her orthopedic surgeon. The therapy team was perfect! They had her back on her feet, walking and navigating 13+ stairs in our home in under a month! They even set us up with caregiver services and provided her with all of the equipment she needed after her discharge! I could not have asked for anything more.

My parents were first admitted into The Terraces at the Clare for rehabilitation. The care they received was excellent and the staff genuinely cared about each resident. My parents did so well under their care that they were discharged in just a few weeks. Luckily they were able to secure a two bedroom apartment in the assisted living section at The Terraces. They receive physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy in their apartment, which is very convenient. The enrichment programming that's available is creative, varied and engaging. I know my parents are in excellent hands at The Terraces, and if they need it, they are just a few blocks from Northwestern Medical Center. When they want to get out and about, they are steps away from restaurants, shopping, cultural offerings, and parks. It's a great place for them to live from all angles.

Rehabilitation was the last thing I wanted to hear after my mothers hospital stay. Amy with The Terraces at The Clare made this transition time a smooth one for my mom. I was kept well informed the whole time of my mom's progess. Once my mom was there the staff did not disappoint. I was impressed with the attention for the safety to the patients, therapy sessions, meals and even a daily bulletin of activities she could participate in. Once it was time to leave, Helina the social worker took care of everything. I would hope to never have to come here again but if the situation presents itself I would DEFINITELY choose The Terraces at The Clare again.

This October (2023) I spent several weeks at The Clare's rehab/ nursing facility. Previously I have been a patient here following knee replacement surgery. Therefore I feel that I know The Clare's rehab/nursing facility well from my past experience, from friends that have been rehab/nursing residents, and from friends that I have suggested use the rehab/nursing facility here following surgery or serious illness. The facility at The Clare is excellent. They have an expanded gym for physical and occupational therapy with a very good set of instructors. There is also more than adequate training equipment in the gym supervised by the very competent and helpful staff. Food at The Clare has continued to meet the very high standard I experienced when I first did rehab at The Clare. Meals either are served in your room or in the intimate resident dining room on each rehab/nursing floor. There is an excellent choices on the menu with alternate selections. You can also request some meal options you might prefer. The nursing and medical staff at The Clare are excellent. They know what they are doing, explain things to you, when needed and are always friendly and available when you need assistance. From personal experience, if you are in need of a rehab/nursing facility in Chicago, go to The Clare. IT IS THE VERY BEST IN CHICAGO.

Over the past seven years, on four different occasions, I have needed to spend time in a rehab facility after major surgery. Fortunately, someone recommended The Clare as we prepared for the first of my surgeries which required three weeks of recovery at a first class facility. I was so pleased with the care, humanity, and professionalism which I received from its staff and nurses that I insisted upon returning to The Clare for a second and third time. On each of those occasions, both of which required two weeks of recovery, I continued to receive the excellent care to which I became accustomed. I just finished my fourth visit which required three weeks of first class care. Once again, The Clare delivered. If I need a fifth stay at a rehab facility, I will insist upon returning to The Clare!!!!

The staff was competent and caring. The food was very good. The occupational therapy and physical therapy were excellent. My only complaint would be that between leaving the hospital and the Clare and home my vintage shoes were lost. There was confusion between home health and the Clare, but it was easily resolved. I loved the view from my room.

The staff was dedicated to helping patients, and I appreciate all they did to help me recover from 5 consecutive hip replacements.
