Helpful liaisons, they helped me with resources I needed for my aunts care
August 2026
The liaison was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and took the time to clearly explain what to expect before, during, and after surgery. Their communication and support helped make a stressful situation much easier for our family. We’re happy to say that our family member recovered well after surgery and was able to return home successfully. We truly appreciate the care, guidance, and professionalism shown by everyone involved. Thank you for helping make this experience as smooth and positive as possible.

This is a great place. My grandpa was here to recover after surgery and they did a great job helping him through the recovery process.

Choosing a nursing home for our loved one was difficult, but Paul House & Healthcare Center made the transition seamless. The entire staff provides extraordinary care and treats their patients with dignity. The facility is exceptionally clean, a beautiful piece of history within the city of Chicago. The meals are well prepared and there is a vibrant sense of community with the daily activities. The rehab team empowered my family member to get better and stronger. We are grateful to the team beyond words. Highly recommended to any family looking for quality senior care whether they need long term care or short term rehab.

I’ve had a very positive experience with the nursing care at Paul House. The Director of Nursing is caring, approachable, and truly takes the time to listen and address concerns. She is very involved with the residents and makes sure families feel heard and supported. The nurses and staff have also been attentive, compassionate, and responsive. You can tell there is a genuine effort to provide good care and make residents feel comfortable and respected. I really appreciate the communication and dedication of the nursing team. Thank you to the DON and the entire Paul House staff for everything you do!

I’ve had such a positive experience with the wound care team at Paul House. The wound care nurse is always pleasant, kind, and very approachable. He takes his time with each resident and never makes the visit feel rushed. What I appreciate most is how involved he is in the residents’ care. He takes the time to explain what he’s doing, communicates well with the patients and will speak with families to answer their questions and keep them informed. We’ve seen so many wounds improve and heal under his care, which really speaks to his knowledge and dedication. It’s reassuring to have a wound care nurse who is not only skilled at what he does, but genuinely cares about the residents and their families. We are very fortunate to have him caring for our residents at Paul House.

My mother is currently there for a fall and no one is helping her to and from the bathroom. She's 83 years old and needs assistance. I'm very disappointed.

Needed a short term rehab facility for my 45 year old nephew and I am so happy we chose Paul House. Due to his medical issues, his stay was longer than expected...6 months!! But, let me tell you the people we met here were wonderful and feel like they became friends more than just caregivers! While we had a few "hiccups" while he was there, as always happens in these facilities, they were quickly handled and happily resolved. I am not sure how to describe the team here as they are indeed one of a kind!!! These women who are at the helm of this facility give more than 100%. From admissions, to front desk personnel, nurses, CNA's, cleaning crew, you name it!! And their Activity Room, led by Esperanza (and Ashley) is amazing. The care they give to residents and patients is indescribable..daily activities, treats, movies and BINGO (which was my nephews FAVORITE activity) On our last day there, they were actually walking residents, 3 at a time, to 7/11 for their free Slurpee Day!! He had some of the best nurses/CNA's but we cannot praise Clydie and Felipa enough...truly knew he was getting the best care possible on days they had care of him. Thank you's especially to Ashley (Social Service), Ivy (Administrator) Bunmi (Best Director of Nursing), Asmas, Cheyenne, Sephora, Jay, Bonita, Jeff, Taylor, the physical therapy department, the front desk workers who greeted us warmly on every visit and anyone else who I have forgotten but made our stay there possible. We will be back to visit as we will miss seeing all of you’”’”
March 2026
The place is low income but the social worker Brian is amazing at guiding you, giving resources truly going above and beyond. My father was set up with home health , Homecare and he followed up after discharge which is unheard. 4 stars due to the intake team and front desk not very friendly
March 2026
Everyone is so good to me while I've been here. I was so weak when I first came and now I am so strong. Going to miss while I am here. I would come back if anything happens again.
March 2026
My stay at Paul House healthcare facility has been spectacular! Everyone is well trained and very friendly. The Physical and occupational therapy are great! I’m more than 100%! I’d highly recommend this facility.
February 2026
I was initially calling around, trying to find a place for my very elderly mother. I was impressed from the beginning phone call, to the subsequent interviews. Everyone was kind, helpful, and able to answer my questions and give me guidance. Would not hesitate to use them.
February 2026
Went to tour Paul house for my grandparents as we are looking for memory care. Everyone was very sweet and helpful. I will definitely be coming back for a second tour and more info when the memory care unit is done with renovations.
February 2026
I recently reached out to your facility to inquire about care for a family member and I just want to commend you on your team. Not only did the admissions director answer all of my questions, but she took the time to explain things I did not even think about; all while being patient and kind. I have not had this kind of interaction with most facilities I have spoken to.
February 2026
Called for information over the phone and they were awesome. Gave me excellent information and the admissions director is so sweet.
September 2025
CNA, nurses and therapy were great, the stay was very pleasant
August 2025
From assisted living, to skilled nursing, they offer 24/7 nursing care and physical therapy / occupational / speech therapy for the residents. Kind and compassionate management and care teams will ensure you have quality care in place. Lovely community with newly remodeled spaces.
August 2025
My sister stayed at Paul House for Hospice. The staff at Paul House were very attentive and caring during this difficult time for my family. She agreed to do hospice at Paul House because she recalled the good care my mother had there when she was admitted under similar circumstances many years ago when it was St. Paul’s. It was good to see that Paul House has continued with their excellent care for their most vulnerable patients.

How this place has 5 stars is a mystery to me. I feel like giving it 2 stars is pretty generous. I'm only giving it that since we had no other choice in facilities & the PT there did seem to help my dad a bit, thank God. The facility itself looks "ok". The attention from people there is pretty bad though. I have lots to say but not sure I'll be able to capture everything in this review. Since my dad has Medicaid, our choices were pretty limited. From what I read, other places might be worse? From previous reviews, it sounds like this place might've been a bit better before, but again, as of today's date, 2/21/25, it is not so great. Getting a hold of someone there is extremely difficult. If you have no choice but to send your loved one here, be prepared for that. Yes, the initial tour set up was pretty quick, but I wonder if it's like that because they want your loved one to come in here? Once they have them in here, the communication pretty much stops. : At 1st my dad was put into his own private room which was pretty nice. After a couple weeks though, I was informed that he was going to be moved into another room with someone else. Maybe they put the "newbies" in single rooms to start with? I don't know. Trying to get a hold of a nurse was pretty hard. They gave me 2 direct #'s & the numbers would just ring & ring & ring. Just a tip (since this wasn't told to me till much later), if you're trying to get a hold the nurse for your loved one, call the front desk & ask them to transfer you. That doesn't guarantee you'll get someone though since often times they were not available, but it's better than calling the nurse numbers directly. Getting a hold of Lee (not very friendly btw) or Gerald (same) is very difficult. BTW, all the staff has a 10:30am meeting or so (something I wasn't told till much later), so forget about getting a hold of anyone during that time. Also, I left multiple messages for them (mind you, they don't have voicemail....who doesn't have vm in 2025??), so you have to leave your name & # with the receptionist. The ONLY helpful person at this place was Erica that's in PT. Erica, if you ever read this review, THANK YOU!!! You were the ONLY that one that was helpful & seemed to not only care about your job but about your patients & their family also! Thank you so much for helping my father & helping me when I had questions or needed something to be provided to my father. I really appreciate all that you did! Like I mentioned before though, Gerald was of no help. He's the Director I guess, but Director of what?? He provided no help or guidance or anything. Lee, also, not much help at all. Even speaking to him about my father's discharge seemed like it was a bother to him. He was always very rushed & not polite at all. You felt like you were always a bother (even though I barely only talked to him a few times if that”because he was always so hard to get ahold of). Nurses, not so great either. I didn't meet them all, so I can't speak for all of them, but the ones I did meet, were not very helpful. Forget about trying to get answers over the phone. The only time they seemed to be "involved" (if you can call it that), was when you were there in person standing in front of them asking the questions. But even then, it again seemed like you were a burden & bother to them. I get it though, the place seems understaffed & it doesn't seem like it hired the best staff (Medicaid”need I say more). Again, I could go on & on (like how they didn't have the proper medical supplies my dad needed, etc etc), but I think this review might be long as is. Again, if you have NO other choice, then I guess this place MIGHT be better than some out there? This was our 1st experience with a skilled nursing facility so I can't speak for others, but it was not easy getting answers from anyone there (except for Erica like I said”thank God for her”she needs a raise!). I figured I would just share this to shed some real light on this place since again there seems to be a disconnect with the other 5 star reviews. 🙁
December 2024
We had a very positive experience with Paul House. Our sincere gratitude to Gerald, Lee, James and the entire Paul House staff for their care of our family member during their stay. The Facility has been recently renovated, is clean, safe, and nicely decorated for the holidays. The staff and care teams are very kind and attentive. May God continue to bless you all!
December 2024
I feel very lucky to have found Paul House for my mother. From day one, she has received the care she needs to remain active and stay healthy. Staff is attentive and they have gotten to know my mom as a person, which has helped in making a good connection with her roommate and in regard to activities she now partakes in. My mom was living in a supportive living space that promised her the world and did not deliver (to say the least) and it is very encouraging to see her so well taken care of. She looks healthier than she has in over a year! While we were told upon moving into the supportive living space that she would be provided with a new walker, after asking three times and not getting one, she received a new walker and a wheelchair for long travels from Paul House on the DAY she moved in! Any questions I have come across, have been answered right away and I have never felt like I am a bother when I do have questions or concerns. I found Paul House on a total whim, while touring another facility that was much outside of our means. I showed up and asked to take a tour without an appointment, and spoke with a resident and her daughter while I was waiting to see Paul House. I was told the woman I spoke with has lived there for over a year and her family feels she is safe there. I agree and my mom also agrees; she feels safe at Paul House and she feels she is being treated well and getting the care she needs. The fact that I do not need to worry about my mom and that I know she is being treated with respect and dignity means everything to our family. Mel in the business office, Gerald in Admissions, and the Activities Director, Esperanza, have all gone above and beyond for my mom. The CNA's are always friendly and also go above and beyond and I could not be more grateful that an oftentimes extremely difficult transition has been met with ease, understanding, and kindness as well as attentiveness and efficiency by the team at Paul House.
November 2024
My mother Evelyn passed away August 2024 after residing at Paul House (formerly St. Paul's House) for close to ten years. Having visited other nursing homes I will unequivocally state it was a blessing to have her as a resident, she received quality, compassionate care from day one til her last afternoon. Excellent communication from the staff, as her primary care advocate I was kept in the loop, invited to care meetings, and staff was responsive to my questions, concerns, and requests. Especially stellar is the head of nursing, Tina Bosch RN. Never did I ever feel I was a bother when I phoned to inquire about my mother. No place is perfect but at Paul House I never worried about poor care, mom was well taken care of. Thanks to all who helped mom during her final years.

I found the Paul House and Healthcare Center through a family member that had a friend that lived there so I went unannounced. And basically requested to sit with someone to get questions answered about how it worked when trying to place a family member. I was trying to find a good nursing home for my mother. And upon hearing about this place, I went immediately and Gerald Imperial explained it to me even though I had not formally scheduled an appointment he answered all my questions and told me to bring my mom in for a tour. My mom loved it. 20mins from my house and parking is never an issue. They have friendly staff, some of the sweetest nurses and CNA’s. The director of nursing has became a wonderful acquaintance. Mrs. Tina Mrs. Mel is another very friendly asset to the Paul House, always willing to help and has saved my sanity a few times now. I really don’t know how I could do this without Mrs. Mel’s help!!! My mother is happy, safe, and likes where she is. She has a roommate that I have come to love like my own family. They made me feel like I could trust where I placed her to live. Thank you for all the things you all do for us!!!!!!! And God bless you all!

My brother suffered a severe stroke on June 29th and was admitted to Paul House for in patient care and rehabilitation- the care at Paul House is amazing. Melanye Puckett was instrumental in every aspect of ensuring my brother is taken care of and helping me participate in his recovery and long term needs. THANK YOU MEL!!!you are the BEST..

Nice people and they do exactly what they say they are going to do
July 2024
Mel is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate her taking the time to educate me on my mom's rights and supportive services for Dianna, my mom. I love Paul's House for my mother. This home is super clean. My mom eats all of her food and my mom is always smiling. The entire staff and administration is beyond phenomenal. I wish that I would have known about Paul's House years ago. May God continue to bless this awesome facility.
July 2024
Ron said "this is the first time in years I've felt safe" and says he likes the food here. Staff is responsive, pleasant and very professional, facility is clean, quiet and comfortable. Mel in Business Office took the time to very carefully walk me through the regs and paperwork, helpful and reassuring. SW Lee did a thorough job of explaining the care plan and arranging followup. Staff are genuinely concerned for every person in their care. The nurses are angels.

Paul House has been a Blessing. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. My brother stayed there for 3 months. I must say, the facility has a nice and calming atmosphere. Everyone is friendly. Mel, Head Administrator, reached out to my family and navigated us through very thought times, from helping with insurance needs to literally a shoulder to cry on. Our tears were wiped away, and we were able to make decisions confidently with my brother’s care. Gerald, Manager, is great. He operates the facility with warmth and compassion. He also gets to the very root of any concerns you may have.Tina, Head of Nursing is a sweetheart. She handled any doctor’s appointments my brother had. She always kept my family informed every step of the way on his medications and overall health. The nurses and CNA’s were all wonderful, and always treated my brother and my family with care and respect. Erica, Head of Therapy, is wonderful with setting therapy sessions and keeping my family well informed. Chantel, Therapist really made therapy fun and brought a lot out of my brother, who was very limited in his physical abilities. Lee, Social Worker, kept my family well informed on any upcoming transfers or transitions my brother would go through. Overall, Paul House became our family, and we felt the love each and every time we visited!!

This place is Horrible, Attention is Horrible, for every 1 nurse that is nice there are 5 that should really have a different profession!not sure about anyonr elses Loved one but they are not great with mine

My dad was just transferred to Paul House at the beginning of May. I was worried. I was worried because his prior nursing home was absolutely atrocious. Since he’s been at Paul House, I’ve noticed that he’s always clean, he never smells like he needs to be changed, I see residents who look HAPPY, roaming around the building, I see administrative staff roaming the halls, and the nurses and CNAs are always so helpful and attentive. It’s a dream come true. Not every facility is perfect, there’s always going to be some issues, but Paul House is an establishment that I am very impressed with so far. God answered our prayers.
June 2024
The staff has exceeded my expectations! Mel is amazing and they take great care of my father who has stage 4 Parkinsons disease. He is eating well, his wounds are attended to daily and they keep him mentally engaged. One of thr BEST places for senior care in Chicago!

Facing the daunting task of moving a loved one to a nursing home is not something anyone should have to experience, yet people do, on a daily basis. I can not say enough wonderful things about Paul House. My mother has started to thrive again since her admission! There are a plethora of daily activities to keep her engaged and happy. She raves about the food. The facility is clean and nicely decorated. The staff are pleasant and her care team is amazing. If you are looking for a LTC facility, consider this one. We are pleased we did!

I am very impressed with the staff the facility and the administrator Gerald and also Rachel. For being so committed and upfront about the procedure for transferring my sister Rosa Wilson to Paul house. The staff is wonderful. CNA Miss Thelma is great with my sister Rosa I deeply deeply appreciate everything that this facility is doing for my sister. I'm just hoping later on the remodel will continue even on the side where my sister is it's okay but it could look better. All rooms should look exactly like the picture on the website all floors should look exactly like the picture on the website. I also want to add another CNA marivac she is a wonderful wonderful addition to this awesome staff thank you guys for everything I really greatly appreciate it my heart goes out to you thank you.
July 2023
Paul House is a nice facility to be at. Staff are competent and dedicated with the work they do for the residents. I'd like to send my appreciation to Tina the DON, Gerald, Administrator, Clydie, nurse, Kim, Speech therapist, Felipa CNA, Ericka the therapist. Everyone has been so helpful throughout my stay at the facility.
May 2023
Just completed 4 weeks of post hip fracture rehab at Paul House and I have only the highest praise for all staff. Erica and Barbara, OT staff, are standouts for many reasons. Erica was an advocate for me in multiple instances and was a fantastic communicator. Barbara is both an excellent therapist and brings her enthusiastic personality to motivate. Physical therapists Michael and Rebecca deserve credit for exceptional skills. CNA’s are the backbone of hands on care and Jeanine Munoz, Chanceria, Felipa, and Joe were empathetic, attentive, and foremost in an outstanding CNA staff. Nurses deserve all of the praise their profession universally receives.

Great team and excellent care options.

Staff was unfriendly
February 2023
I feel exceptionally blessed to have found Paul House! The compassionate care that has been giving to my father during this emotional and transitional time is priceless. You never know how valuable these services are until they are needed.
December 2022
I would like to praise Mr. Gerald Imperial for taking the time to patiently collaborate with me and guide me through the process of rounding up all the records to apply for Medicaid. He is friendly, hard-working, patient and very well skilled in this industry. I was really happy to have him supporting me & providing his expertise.
December 2022
My Aunt was a resident at Paul House for nearly a year. Though she was a sharp, elderly lady, she was dependent on the staff for most of her physical needs. When I asked her, she said that the nurses and CNAs were friendly and helpful. I witnessed their and the housekeepers’ friendliness, when I visited. I was most pleased with the nurses’ interventions, when they noticed a change in her condition. The nurses kept me well-informed of any therapies/ medication/ or treatment changes.

They are destroying my health with the food. My blood pressure has skyrocketed because the kitchen ignores my low sodium requirements. They refuse to prepare the so called "always available meals." Even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was salty. The contract Nurse from the night shift, didn't give me my scheduled night meds. My BP was so high the weekend Nurse was concerned about it and called the on call PA who directed her to send me to the hospital! I believe my wound care Nurse has not been giving me Collagen treatment for a wound.
September 2022
Had a great relationship with the administrator and finance person. Nursing staff outstanding! Highly recommended!
August 2021
My Mom was just released from Paul House after a 3 month stay due to a fall. I was extremely happy with all aspects of her care over the duration of her stay. With Covid protocols still in place, it made monitoring her care much more challenging for me than it was on a previous stay a few years back for a knee replacement. My first contact person and the one who guided me through the entire stressful time was Grace O'Malley, the Social Services Director. From day one, Grace reached out to me to let me know what the next steps would be in Mom's care plan. Grace was always available to me to answer my questions, let me know what was in store next and most importantly, to calm Mom down during some very unexpected and anxiety filled days when she was not feeling well. Through it all, Grace was an integral and ever important key to Mom's care and eventual return back to her assisted living facility. She was at the helm for 3 Care Plan conference calls and lobbied for Mom in every aspect of her care all while keeping me informed and feeling comfortable that all was well when the Covid protocols made in-person visits very sporadic. I can't say enough about her commitment to care for the short and long-term residents at Paul House. She's a fierce advocate that is as caring and compassionate as they come and a true asset to the facility. I also had many positive experiences with the nurses and aides on the 2 East wing. They were very helpful during the most critical times in Mom's care and kept me updated with calls when necessary. I regret that I wasn't able to meet them all personally to thank them for the excellent care they gave during her stay. Big thanks go to Christine, Denise, Reggie and Mene to name a few as I wasn't able to get all of their names. They also have a strong commitment to probably the most challenging of patients and residents due to their limited mobility and continuing care. It takes a special kind of care and patience to do that job day after day and I applaud them for their excellence. Lastly, I'd like to commend Payden Dowling, Director of Physical Therapy, and the rest of the PT department for their plan to get Mom back to her baseline and pushing her each day to work toward her goals. Payden was also accessible to me on several occasions with PT updates and I appreciated his input on several Care Plan meetings. I would not hesitate to have Mom return to Paul House in the future should she need their services once again. Julie Russo

My family recently transferred my Grandma to Paul House based off several recommendations from family, friends and the community. Upon arrival the administrator (Taylor) was available to meet my Dad and answer any questions about the facility. Meeting Taylor was such a wonderful way to start the transition at a new facility. The staff have all been extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful settling her into her room and keeping my Dad updated. With COVID and visiting restrictions it is reassuring to have such caring staff assisting her. She has called several times to tell us how nice and big her room is and how friendly the staff on the floor are. We couldn't be happier with our decision to move her to Paul House. I would highly recommend this facility to family members looking for a nursing home or assisted living.
April 2021
I recently transferred my mom to Paul House from a different facility and she couldn’t be happier! She won’t stop raving about the quiet and spacious room as well as the quality of care from CNA’s and nurses alike. She interacts frequently with staff whom she praises for their gentleness with care and attentiveness to her needs. She appreciates the quick response to her call light and LOVES the food! Despite these uncertain times and the Covid restrictions (which currently prevent me from being able to visit with her in person), I continue to have the utmost confidence in Paul House staff, knowing my mother is receiving nothing short of excellent care. I highly recommend Paul House if your questioning where to send your loved one.

My brother lives there & the times I have been able to travel there I have found everyone very friendly & everything very nice & clean. I have even had a meal in the dining room with my brother while there.

My family highly recommends Paul House to family members looking for a nursing home. My grandfather is Spanish speaking and the staff have gone out of their way to communicate with him and make him feel comfortable. They assisted us in arranging for hospice care and have kept us informed every step of the way. The Director of Social Services, Executive Director and Director of Nursing and her team of nurses have proven to be competent and knowledgeable and have helped my family feel at ease during this challenging time. The key staff are a phone call away. They even assisted me in FaceTiming with my grandfather after hours. Thank you for all you have done for my family we appreciate it.

My brother-in-law has been cared for at Paul House since late November. I have been impressed by the care he has received and especially by the competent and caring communication I have had with members of the Paul House staff. Kate Goslin is an exceptional social worker who has taken time to get to know my BIL and his condition and Tina Borsch, the head nurse on the staff has also been in close communication. My brother-in-law's case is complex and requires careful evaluation at a time when the staff of all of these organizations must be under great pressure. I believe they are doing a fine job especially under these circumstances.

My aunt has been a resident of Paul House now since May. We had to move her mid COVID-19 due to facility concerns and could not be happier with the care and support we have received here! From the administration taking a personal interest in our case, to the social worker who is always available when we have questions, we can’t say enough positive things. We are always informed of changes in health status and feel to be a valued voice in the care plan process. Don’t overlook Paul House for your loved ones!
