Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale – Reviews
This is a review from my dad who has been a resident for the past 3 1/2 years. What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? It's a supportive living community located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. In this write up, I'm going to describe to some son, daughter, husband, wife and/or close relative why to move a loved one to Aldens in Bloomingdale, IL. Let's face it, there is nothing to take the place of your home. But when time comes to find a new “home” for your elderly relative, this location has smiling faces greeting you as you enter the building - thanks to Sylvia Walkowicz. Then you meet Kristina Juszyczyk who will explain what apartments we have here and then take you on a short tour of this location. You may have a few questions following the tour. There is Denise McNabb to answer them, she is very knowledgeable about this location and financial solutions. Tori Simklin is the new Director of Nursing and has two (2) RNs on her staff. She also guides the CNAs. These individuals always are providing us assistance with personal bathing, dressing, and doing laundry - also helping with medications, if needed. Miguel Rodriguez is the Executive Chef and has a well-qualified dining room staff. He has his work cut out for him because he's going up against eighty (80) "great cooks" (when they were home). Kelly Dalbis is the Activity and Resident Life Director. She and her staff do a wonderful job keeping ninety (90) residents busy. Some of the activities are: Bingo; Food Demos; Music Therapy; Pet visits with Roy and Lucky. Additionally, residents can go to Mass, Bible study and church service with Pastor J.T. Then we have shopping trips to Walmart, Dollar Store, Walgreens, and Target. We get there by our bus. We also have a hospitality cart going to all floors on Fridays. We also have a beauty salon. Adam Faterson is our Maintenance Director. He and his staff take care of all work orders from the front desk. All residents must fill out a work order for any problems in their apartments. Now we get to the foundation: Gigi Guzman is our Executive Director. She is the one who has meetings with the above individuals keeping them up to date with all the rules and changes happening. She, as well as her staff, really care for all residents. Let's get back to the real question: Where do you want Mom, Dad, Wife, Husband, Brother, or Sister to go to have a good life? Take it from me. After three and one-half (3 1/2) years living here, there is no better place to have a loved one then at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale, IL. - Bill Noviskis
This review is from my parents who reside at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale: What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? October, 2020 Its a supportive living community located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. There have been some changes at this location. Sylvia has replaced Kristina at the front desk. Nothing has changed regarding the warm and smiling face greeting you with Hi, may I help you? as you enter the building. We lost Sandy, Jackie and Ron. Sandy was replaced by Kristina who is the Director of Sales and Marketing. Jackie was replaced by Miguel, now the Executive Chef. Ron was replaced by Adam as the Maintenance Director. As many other senior communities are experiencing COVID-19 cases, we at Aldens have been blessed, as of this writing, with none of our residents and staff getting the virus. We have a really great Executive Director, Gigi, who is following orders from the State of Illinois and Aldens, to keep us healthy and well. She keeps the staff up to date with all the rules and changes regarding this ups and downs about this terrible virus. Denise is always willing to take the time and help the residents with financial problems. Amy is the Director of Nursing and has three RNs on her staff. The CNAs are always helping us in and about the building, lunchroom, and apartment. It has been good to have Dr. Hasan back on location. Many of us have a need to have our feet taken care of, and Dr. Pastore does that every two months. Miguel heads up the lunchroom staff. As of this date, we are now back to having all three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in the dining room. Kelly handles the activities, which keeps her going all day. Adam heads up the maintenance. When you have a problem in your apartment, fill out a work order form at the front desk. He will get to it as soon as possible. As soon as its all clear to go back to normal ways, it will be good to have nurse Kim and her therapists back. The same is true of the beauty shop. Again, these are a few of the remarkable things that make us enjoy our stay at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. Thank you, Joan and Bill Noviskis
I have yet to visit my aunt, but I need to say how appreciative our family is for Sylvia. She called to merely reschedule a visit and ended up going to my aunts room to teach her how to call from her iPad AFTER her shift was up. After several attempts of FaceTime not working, she used Messenger. She was so kind and went above and beyond what was asked. If this is the type of employee Alden has working for them, this is where I would want my loved ones to go. Thank you, Sylvia, for your genuine care and compassion. — Joy
My mother lived at this wonderful facility for the last 3 years of her life. Beautiful, spotless clean, well maintained. Wonderful staff. Wonderful food. Simply THE BEST. All we hoped for and more.
If you are reading this review you are probably having to make a decision in regard to transitioning your mother or father into a more supportive living environment for their well-being and most importantly their safety. This is a life changing decision for both the child of the parent and their parent. I started this journey about a year ago, a painstaking process to say the very least. Then, I came upon Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale and met Sandy Horwath the director of admissions and I knew I had found a new home for my mom. Mrs. Horwath displayed the utmost empathy for my mother and myself. She patiently answered my endless array of questions as we begun the process to have my mom added to the waitlist for an apartment. During this time Mrs. Horwath contacted me every month to let me know the status of my mothers move in date. My mother moved in September 2018 and her quality of life changed in a way that brought her increased comfort and support. When you walk into the lobby you immediately feel at home. Carpeted hallways and sitting rooms and upholstered furniture add to the warmth of the environment. More critical than anything, is the staff that supports the residents. From the director of nursing, Amy Heitzmann, the compliance director, Denise McNabb, and the support staff, utilizing a direct care model they truly exhibit the utmost of professionalism, support, and kindness to their resident and their families. I have truly been supported in assisting my mom in every aspect of this life transition. From an individual who asks lots of questions, and looks for reassurances, I have never been turned away, but always acknowledged and supported. Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale offers a variety of activities and support systems, seven days a week from morning to night. There is a welcome hustle and bustle of the residents and abundant support and kindness. I now sleep more peacefully, knowing my mom is safe and sound and looked after with the highest quality of care and compassion. Alden Gardens is a blessing for the resident and their families.
My Mother has been here for 1 year. This is a great facility. The staff andnurses cna are very attentative. I cant say enough on how nice this place is. Very happy!
Our family has been blessed with Alden Gardens, in fact our Mom has never been so active and social. A phenomenal staff that truly cares !!! Our extended family 🙂
Pleasant staff, spacious rooms & adequate meals.
We moved Mom into Alden Gardens the week it opened (6 years ago) and have been thrilled with every aspect. The staff are amazing and it is a joy to see the positive relationships between staff, staff and staff, residents. Mom constantly tells us she doesnt have a care in the world ... A lovely home, good food, attentive & caring nursing staff, quick maintenance if needed, conscientious housekeepers, and everyone is so kind & respectful to her. If I have questions regarding her care, the staff is quick to respond to me and help as needed. Dad lived in the nursing home (also an Alden property) right next door. It was a perfect solution because Mom could walk over to see him each day. During the winter months, the Alden Gardens staff even escorted her next door to make sure she got there safely. We have been so grateful for the many, many ways the Alden Gardens staff have gone out of their way to care for our familys needs and help my parents make the best of a difficult situation as they were forced to live separately due to Dads health problems. I feel blessed that we were able to find such a wonderful home for my parents.
Our Mom has been a resident here for over three years. We have found the amenities to be beyond question. The staff acts more like family or friends than staff. They know all the family members by site and some by name. If we have a question, they are more than willing to take the time to listen and explain, or, if necessary, get the answer for us. They have various holiday brunches, dinners and barbecues during the year where all the family is welcome to come and share the day with their loved one. The food is delicious and healthy; no concerns in that area. We have found that everyone here is willing to go that extra step to make everyone feel at home. We have even gotten to know the family members of other residents over time, so they too become a part of the extended family. The location is ideal. Right off of Route 53, there are tons of shopping and dining venues in the neighborhood. Residents love to go to lunch, a movie or a shopping trip. Alden also provides many opportunities for residents to go on outings on their bus. There are numerous churches in the area and every effort has been made to provide an opportunity to worship, or not,as each individual decides. Mom lived right behind me for years, but I feel she has thrived since being here. Having people of her own age to talk, eat, and play with has done wonders. I think I can speak for our whole family when I say that I highly recommend Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale.
