I visited this community a week or so ago for the first time. Nick Dolphin was kind enough to show me around the community. The community gave off a comfortable at home vibe. Everyone was very friendly and the residents were very personable with Nick as we toured. One of them gave Nick a hug and said I could have a hug also because we were such nice guys. This made my visit there even more admirable.

This is such a nice homey facility! Nick was so knowledgeable when he was showing me around. The rest of the staff also seemed very friendly.

Kind caring staff. My father suddenly lost his eye sight 6 years ago needed a good safe place to live. Having to move far away from friends to be closer to family was difficult, but this place has made him feel secure. My fathers efficiency apartment is spacious with kitchen, living, and sleeping areas. There are larger apartments available but this was perfect for him. Small pets are allowed. My father lives in independent living but gets assisted living services. If you want all the luxuries imaginable (e.g. pool, bowling alley, ...) this is not the place for you but if you want a good safe place with many nice touches then try here.

I was an employee here and had a great experience; if I did not move, I would definitely come back! I have heard many residents speak so highly of Brown Deer Place and their experiences here. I thought it was well-staffed, with at least 2 or 3 RAs in memory care, not including the memory care coordinator and nurse during the day, which would bring the total up to 4 or 5 for the around 15 residents in memory care. I had no issues with management and thought they were all respectful and adaptive. There were many occasions where if a staff member called out sick, management would be there working that staff members shift, whether it was doing medication passes, working overnight, etc. I have not worked at many places where management actually work the floor and truly care about the well-being of the residents as much as they do. If a resident, a residents family member, or staff member ever had a complaint or problem, it was addressed promptly, whether that be through the nurse or through the manager. They provide many activities for the residents, which I could see that the residents and family members appreciated. I would highly recommend moving your family member here because the staff and management here are accommodating, caring, and genuine, and they treat the residents like they are their own loved ones!

Brown Deer Place was an excellent choice for my father. Anne took the time to show us around and answer in depth questions. The entire staff went above and beyond with ever request I had. If there was something I needed, they found a way to make it work. Very friendly and catering environment. They made caring for my father a better experience by always jumping in to help, as if they were family.

I have wanted to write a review since mom moved here 2 years ago. I never expected staff to be so responsive to every concern and question I had about her adjustment to this sea change in her life. She loves it here, the staff, her friends, the food and the many activities that keep her busy and happy. Thank you Tanner, Annie, Matt and the kind kitchen and housekeeping staff for going above and beyond. Mom and I lucked out to find Brown Deer, her home now in every way.

BDP is exceptional in facility, Staff, activities, amenities, food. That is our experience after 2 years living here. The key criteria in senior living choice is people size( feels like family.....not a cold over-sized institution.... thats BDP ! Wonderful place to live with caring, professional Staff fun-active residents that will make your day! The best choice for senior living in the Iowa City area. Stands out among many choices!

Im really pleased with this place. Im really surprised the amount of care that my love one gets. Shes in assisted living so she can feel some type of independence, but she also has supervisors looking after here every so often. The facility itself has a very straight forward layout. Its very good for someone like my love one and its impossible to get lost. They also have a nice outdoor area off the lounge where residents could sit outside. All in all I am pleased with this location and its better than I expected.

I was really impressed with this community and the tour I was given was very well done by the staff. They took their time showing me around and they answered all my questions. there were a lot of amenities for the residents. I really liked this community but my mom already had her heart set on another community where she felt she would be more comfortable.
