My mom just spent about 6 weeks at Avalon Care Center, HNL for rehab after being in the hospital for a month. I cannot say enough praise for this facility and its staff. They cared for my mom as their own every single day. The nurses, nurse aides, PT/OT, nutrition and kitchen staff, housekeeping, every single person provided excellent care. We are so grateful for everyone who helped my mom rehab and come home today! Mahalo nui loa to the full staff of Avalon Care Center, Honolulu.

The people here are very good and helpful. I love the food. They got real meat, pork, and chicken; it's not imitation. It's soft and flavorful so it's helpful because my teeth are not so good. The desserts are my favorite. The thing I like about this place is that it's close to where I grew up, just one block away. I enjoy all the special entertainments and going out on the lanai for sun and fresh air. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the aloha spirit at Avalon Health Care Group, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of amazing. The administrators and department heads kept in touch with me about my uncle's care, making sure we were always in the loop. The nursing staff? Awesome! They truly went above and beyond. My uncle couldn't stop raving about the meals. He said they were ono and always looked forward to meal times. And the rehab staff, oh my goodness, they were so patient and supportive. They really helped him get back on his feet, both literally and figuratively. The facilities were always clean and well-maintained, which is so important in a healthcare setting. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but hey, in Hawai'i, when is it not? We managed, and it was worth it for the top-notch care my uncle received. Overall, my uncle had everything he needed to recover quickly from his injury. Mahalo nui loa to everyone at Avalon Health Care Group for your dedication and compassion. You folks are the real MVPs!

The care and professionalism provided by the staff and healthcare workers at Avalon over the past few weeks for my mother who had undergone a surgery and PT has been amazing! I can't say enough about how attentive, responsive, and kind they were and how that aided her recovery. I felt better leaving each day knowing that she was in good and safe hands. Lastly, when I think about what the aloha spirit means and what makes Hawaii unique from the rest of the world, I think of the leadership, values, and workforces in establishments like Avalon. Faafetai tele lava and Mahalo for your love and care of my mother. You all are truly heroes!

My mother was the patient not me. But she said the food was excellent, & the staff were very friendly. The only frustration we had was that we explained to two different nurses about her needs for stool softener, as she has been taking up to 8 a day for the last two years, to counteract the binding effect her other meds have, but they would only give up to 4 a day so it took a lot longer for her plumbing to work than it could have, which she was very unhappy about. Hence she barely ate at first as she didn't want to make things worse. We feel either the nurses didn't communicate that to the responsible person or they thought we were exaggerating how many per day she takes. But we weren't. Other than than, it was a very pleasant experience over all.

My sister was at Avalon for her 2nd time. During her stay there she was taken care of and the nursing staff and the therapist were very good to her. A job well appreciated for the job they do. Much MAHALO

I just spent three weeks at the Avalon on King Kam IV Highway. I was a bit concerned going in there due to the neighborhood. It turns out that the neighborhood is absolutely irrelevant! This Avalon is neat, clean, friendly and VERY attentive to patient needs. I needed physical therapy care after a serious knee infection stay of one month in a hospital. I was really depressed about the prospect of going to a nursing home. This facility just blew me off of my feet with their professional staff, incredibly friendly technicians and administrators. Believe me! I am not exaggerating here and I am not one of their employees. My experience there wassuperb. The physical therapy staff are provided by Reliant Rehabilitation. They are extremely well trained, considerate of the patient and really aggressive about pursuing one's physical therapy goals. I found the entire physical therapy and occupational therapy staff to be without fault or weakness. Very impressive! I required constant antibiotic IV treatment for the entire time that I was there. At no time did the nursing staff miss an IV change. All of the nursing staff followed proper procedure for changing the IV. Very impressive. The facility cleaning staff and their maintenance staff were very attentive to the cleanliness and operational utility of each patient's room. I was so impressed with them. I am a professional chef. Avalon has a real CHEF running their kitchen. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! Lunch and dinners always had appealing flavors in their nain dishes. The menu has a filipino and Asian perspective but flavors will appeal to any pallet. The food is delivered hot! If there were a cooking competition among nursing homes, I think that Avalon would win, hands down! If you are going to Avalon, bring your favorite "blankie". The building is always on the cool-ish side. My only complaint is the nighttime noise level. I had trouble getting to sleep. People are watching TV until all hours. Some patients are yelling out. The staff are somewhat loud during staff changes. These are minor complaints compared to the overall excellence of service. I omitted the activities staff. They do an excellent job of providing interesting activities and diversities to the patients.

Mom's nurses, CNA, doctors, office, activity, OT, PT, were fantastic. I was there everyday in the early morning until early afternoon, and then back again from late afternoon til close. I was amazed at the way everyone communicated any questions, requests, concerns, etc. They would reach out to me promptly, professionally, and polite and friendly. Doctor and others even gave me personal cell numbers in case I had any questions. Would definitely request Avalon again for any family member or for myself personally if needed.

Avalon Care Center was on point. They were very accommodating and all staff on board. The communication was excellent and Dr. Chang was amazing. He took the time to personally called to update the status of our dad and was very compassionate. We've been to other rehab facility but Avalon Care Center topped it off. The facility was very cozy and greeted well. I would recommend to anyone to try Avalon. The team is excellent. Thank you so much
