I visited Legacy Ridge at Woodstock and was very impressed with their operation. Their General Manager was amazing and the other staff appeared to really care about all their residents. I would feel very comfortable putting a family member in this caring environment.

My mom has been at LR Woodstock for a couple of months now, and they have been so good with her, even with a lot of her difficulties. She loves the food, and has found people there to be supportive and caring. And I have found them to be responsive to my questions and needs during a lot of tough transitions.

My family has been very happy with Legacy Ridge at Woodstock memory care for my father. The location is perfect for our family. The chef cares about what he does, and my father enjoys the food there. The Director of Sales helped us through the decision making process and made a home visit before that big decision was made. Some of the staff are really special to us. My father's room is spacious, and the facility does not have a bad smell. No facility is perfect, so there are still items that go missing, slow changes implemented from the pharmacy, and possibly a missed meal or two. My mother is there every day though and feels that the staff does as much as they can.

While there are a few great employees here, there are so many dangerous issues that by and large I cannot rate this facility any higher than 1 star. When mom initially came to live here, the staff worked well as a team, provided great care and really treated mom (and us!) like family. Sadly, that changed for the worse & continued to decline when a new Executive Director (ED) and new Wellness Director (WD)came on staff in early summer 2022. Following are issues we encountered which were discussed with the ED and WD but which were never resolved. Additionally, these issues have been discussed the Regional Director and documented to the CEO, COO, and VP of Operations. One reason we placed mom was she avoided taking her prescribed medications. Handling this was part of the care we contracted/paid for yet we found she was often handed her plastic cup of medications but not supervised to ensure they were taken. She'd make excuses & tell staff she would take them "later". As a result, her medications were found in bedding, on bathroom or kitchen counters, on floors with or without the plastic cup in which they were handed her, loose in the common hallway floors, wrapped in tissue or stashed in her rollator seat. The management of this facility failed us. Medications were not administered timely. Morning meds were given before breakfast one day & not until lunchtime the next while meds specified for bedtime were administered as early as 5:00 during dinner service. Timing consistency is often key in medications given for early dementia, anxiety, depression etc. found in many Assisted Living residents. This was the case for mom. The management of this facility failed us. The facility strongly pushes the use of a company called Guardian Pharmacy to provide blister packed medications for their residents. (yes, you can choose another company but that is not clearly communicated to every resident & their family nor other options provided). Using Guardian is purported to help the facility ensure they get timely refills & deliveries and that residents always get their medication doses. However, incomplete or missing pharmacy deliveries were not addressed by the Wellness Director over days to weeks. Refill requests were not completed timely. Mom didn't get her medications for a new heart issue for nearly 2 weeks during one delay. The final resolution required me to initiate a conference call with the Wellness Director, Business Director, Pharmacy and mom's Cardiologist and negotiate a resolution. Additionally, medication deliveries were not cancelled when prescriptions changed, or when medications were cancelled for use by hospice/doctor or when mom died, which resulted in extra unnecessary costs to her. The management of this facility failed us. Safety is a huge issue here now. The Wellness Director will tell you that the emergency pendants don't always work and that this is a problem at every facility. We don't know about "every facility", just this one & we can report that they seem to work just fine when certain staff is working, but somehow they don't at night or when, shall we kindly say, less caring staff is on the floor. Because the use of the pendants doesn't garner a response in many instances, residents have been issued a 'supplemental' plastic children's whistle to be used in case of emergency. These plastic whistles can't be heard through a closed room fire door or more than a few feet in a hallway. They're inappropriate for residents on floors/wings more than a few steps from the Care Staff office near the lobby, especially since all overnight caregivers spend their time on the 1st floor in that room well away from either wing of the 2nd floor. Residents with lung or breathing issues, on oxygen, experiencing a stroke, heart attack or many other life threatening issues can't effectively blow a whistle. Mom had a fall one day and was unable to get response from the pendant. She was found crying out for help by a family member of another resident who also was unable to get a response from the emergency pendant. On another night, mom spent several hours crying out for help from a window, having wandered into an open empty room. Her pendant again did not elicit a response. Several neighboring residents said they heard her calling out for help for hours and they too had tried to get help using their pendants but never got a response. The management of this facility failed us. Mom's fall (& also the night spent in the empty room) was not reported to us by the Wellness Director. We did not, in fact, know about the fall until after her death the following week. Only then we were told, by another resident's family member who had found mom & summoned help directly from the Wellness Director. When asked about the fall and the additional night of non response, the Wellness Director claimed not to know anything at all about either of them - either a flat out lie or she clearly doesn't belong in the position. The management of this facility failed us. Additionally, mom's behavior apparently changed significantly during the 2 weeks prior to her death. The Wellness Director didn't bother to alert me to this. As I had recently had major surgery, my visits during this time were short and only 2-3 times a week (previously they were an hour+ at a time and often 5-7 days a week). We placed mom for just this kind of thing. As aging adults ourselves, we knew we had our own health issues that might limit or curtail our ability to properly care for mom. The management of this facility failed us. Overall building security is also an issue. Entry doors are supposed to be locked after a specific hour but are often found unlocked allowing anyone access to enter the building. Additionally, because there are only 2 staff members and no management on site overnight, the entrance, lobby and living area are left unattended when the caregiver is on break, lunch or providing care to a resident on the 2nd floor. The management of this facility failed us. Basic care is totally ignored if there is a 'no-call/no-show' situation with care staff. Having had major surgery myself there was one morning I was unable to arrive to check on mom until nearly 10:30am. What I found was appalling. She had clearly been in her urine soaked bed and disposables, unable to get to the bathroom herself and unable to get response for help for at LEAST 4 hours. Nobody had come in at breakfast time to check on taking her for a meal or to bring her one. Nobody had missed her being up and about for at least 4 hours. Nobody had checked on her since the shift change. The linens had been so soaked in urine for so long that the urine was dry in the area almost up to her shoulders! When I addressed this with the ED his response was that someone hadn't shown up for work and "nobody" had told him about it which meant they had been short-handed. Totally unacceptable. The management of this facility failed us. Theft, while known to be an issue at every facility of this type, went unaddressed here even when we took video proof of an actual theft of mom's belongings to the Executive Director. The caregiver caught stealing admitted to taking the item but is still employed 2 months later, has not been suspended or suffered repercussions of any sort and still is in and out of resident rooms alone and at all hours. Our requests to the ED to have the caregiver return the stolen item to us was ignored. The management of this facility failed us. Overall, communication from the Executive Director, Wellness Director and eventually the Regional Director was quite poor. Often there was no response at all to business calls, voicemails, texts, emails. Requests to meet face-to-face were ignored. In several instances the Executive Director was rude in his word choice and tone, lacked empathy, used words and phrasing that were wholly inappropriate for business situations and in one instance responded to a business call with a text that said "Sorry, can't talk right now. Doing hot girl s*it". In the few instances where the ED promised actions or agreed upon changes, there was a total lack of follow through. Basically, once the conversation was over and he'd smiled and nodded in what he felt was the appropriate place, he was done. The management of this facility failed us. Basic Housekeeping which was paid for as part of overall care wasn't happening weekly. Basic housekeeping including changing linens, dusting or cleaning flooring was done haphazardly or not at all. Uneaten meals piled up in the kitchen until mom's attempt to clear it up herself resulted in her flooding the kitchen mini sink, cabinets and flooring. The night staff that was alerted to this felt it was appropriate to simply leave the clean up of the hazardous mess to the maintenance staff many hours later/the next day. I cleaned that entire mess up myself and even provided my own cleaning supplies, paper towels, etc. Finally, when mom was in hospice at the end, we experienced pushback/non administering of prescribed medications by some Med Techs. These medications were appropriately prescribed, documented and directed by hospice during end of life care for mom's comfort & anxiety. A hospice nurse came daily to monitor the situation and instruct the Techs on what/when/how the medications were to be administered. However, some of the Techs felt they were able to chose if medications were appropriate, that they knew better than licensed medical officials prescribing. When we asked one tech to reach out to the Wellness Director and/or 24 hour hospice line for direction or assistance when when they voiced their decision, the tech refused to do so and did not administer the meds causing mom pain and distress that she should never have had to endure. This facility and it's management failed us. Do not place your family member here. Gotta love those inflated review stats by having your employees say the place is great.

We were looking for a new place for our Mom so I called "A Place For Mom" and spoke with Sharon Rice who was extremely helpful with our search.. I hung up from Sharon and immediately received a call from Brenton Steiger at Legacy Ridge in Woodstock. He was Amazing!!!! Within days we were given a tour, had an apartment, were offered more care and above and beyond service for our Mom. It was a match made in heaven!!! Mom has friends, a FULL social calendar and is the happiest she has ever been in such a long time. The quality of care and concern she receives is priceless!!! We are all extremely grateful for Brenton and the staff at Legacy Ridge for their constant care, concern and attention to detail. Brenton goes out of his way to send us pictures of Mom during their many fun activities like baking, and also sends nice updates when he sees her walking instead of using her motorized scooter! They encourage Mom to join in and are always so positive. We Love Legacy Ridge and you will too!!!

My name is Marie and Im a current resident at Legacy Ridge at Woodstock. It is a very nice community and the staff is really nice and helpful. The residents are very nice and friendly too. They are easy to make friends with. The food is exceptionally good. Activities are limited for now because of Corona Virus but they have something for everyone to enjoy everyday. My first time touring the community was a great experience. Everyone was so very nice. The atmosphere was very cozy and clean. The nurse Pam and tour guide Tracey was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The food tasting was wonderful idea considering I hadnt eaten lunch yet. The Chef put on a great presentation of the food that he served there. Yummy! I noticed residents was smiling and no smells in the hallways. I was SOLD!

Excellent staff. My mom has been there 3 years and is very happy still. She happens to be in excellent mental health and just needs to not be living alone so we know everything that goes in there( haha). They provide the level of care needed for each individual. Especially like it because its not too big. They have done an EXCELLENT job during this pandemic keeping all the residents healthy and safe!

My dad is a resident at the Woodstock, Ga. I am very pleased how they take care of him. All staff are great. They show care and empathy and I’m very pleased. Such a fragile age and illness that I was worry to leave him in the wrong hands. However the. Brookdale Woodstock staff are very professional but at the same time very family like. I can say my dad is in very good hands. May God Bless all Brookdale’s staff and caregivers! You are all angels! Thank you!
