We have an uncle who was living in Denver, Colorado, 81-years-old, whose wife just passed away several months ago. He has moderately severe dementia, and had no family in Colorado, so we decided we needed to bring him to Georgia where he has relatives who care for him. After much research, and conversations with other families who had relatives in Greenwood Place Assisted Living in Marietta, our family decided to place him in an apartment there. We have visited him there numerous times since, and have been very happy with the quality of care and the attention the staff members have given our uncle since he moved in. His dementia left him confused about where he was; and we observed that on several occasions Greenwood had provided him with a caretaker companion who sat and chatted with him for several hours in his apartment, which visibly calmed him and left him relaxed and talkative when we visited. The staff nurses there have been very helpful in ensuring that he takes his prescriptions at the proper intervals, and were there to help very quickly on one occasion where he fell and had difficulty getting up. Overall we have found the staff to be very friendly and excellent at engaging with our uncle and the other residents there. Yes, there was a tragedy at this place, when a client managed to get out of the locked door and subsequently drowned in a nearby pond. But as a result of that terrible incident they have put new management in place and new security protocols, and the improved safety procedures have visibly improved the situation for current residents.

just have to share something that really touched me.We recently moved my uncle (who has Alzheimer’s) into Greenwood Place. If you’ve ever had to help a loved one through this stage of life, you know how emotional and overwhelming it can be. We were down to the wire getting his apartment ready. Someone had just moved out, it needed fresh paint, and his furniture delivery was already scheduled. The handyman was out sick. What I didn’t know? Four members of the staff ” Maria (Business Office Manager) Andrea (Activities Director) Dorsey (Memory Care Director) and Ariel (Marketing Director) ” grabbed paint supplies, put on old clothes, and painted his apartment themselves so it would be ready in time! They never mentioned it to me. I found out later from someone else. Who does this? I’ve already been impressed by the warmth and personal attention there, and all these ladies are amazing anyway, but this just meant so much. I know they’ve had a difficult chapter in the past, but there’s new leadership (Robert Day is wonderful) and additional safety measures in place. I did a lot of research before making this decision, and I truly feel at peace with him there. And seeing staff treat residents like family (a couple people who PM'd me on FB had mentioned that was what impressed about THEM abouit Greenwood) just reinforced my decision. Oh by the way, head nurse Aisha is a GEM--they are so lucky to have her. If anyone in our neighborhood is navigating something similar, I’m happy to share what we’ve learned. It’s not an easy road, but you can get through it!

I started the journey to find a place for my mom in October 2025 (my mom was relocating to GA). As a former CNA, I was extremely picky about where mom would be at. From the moment I spoke with Ariel on video chat, I felt confident in Greenwood for my mom. She showed me around the whole facility and answered every question I had. No matter how many times I called, she always had a very cheerful spirit and kept me abreast of the next steps as this was a hard transition. When my mom finally arrived to Greenwood, Ariel was there to help get my mom adjusted to her new home. Aisha the nurse is so nice and made my mom feel welcomed as well. Darcy was also a great help in the transition for my mom. My mom has now been there for a little over a month and she is enjoying her new home. My mom has made friends and she just loves the staff. Thank you Greenwood for all of your work. If you are considering a place for your parent, this is a good place to checkout and the price is well worth it.

My sweet mom has been a family member at Greenwood for quite some time. The staff takes their roles very seriously and care for the residents as if they were their own family. We love the smaller setting with a nice fireplace to keep them warm. Guests come to sing and share their talents weekly. Spending time in their outdoor area is always relaxing and peaceful. It’s very comforting to know my mom is safe and cared for.

I love Greenwood place! But most of all, I love the people. They are the most caring, loving people I could ask for to take care of my mother. Besides being the professionals that they are, they treat each other and the residences like family. They take time to listen and do their best for the people they are taking care of. They stop what they are doing to call me about things they feel important to me during the day. I consider them to be a good friends, because that’s what good friends do. That in itself is a relief for people like me who work full-time, when I am too tired to visit. I am not in a panic, knowing she is being well taken care of. It is important if you can visit regularly and share a little things, your family member does with the staff because it helps them understand what to do and how to look out for their special needs. To Greenwood everyone is special! My mother, Blanche will be 100 in March 2024. I was very careful and concerned when placing my mother in a senior care home. I went back-and-forth, and finally called’ A Place For Mom.’ they listen to all my needs, and were very personable with me. They gave me a couple of options to choose from that they thought would be a good fit for Blanche. After visiting Greenwood, I knew it was the right place, I did not have to look further. I had a wonderful, heartfelt introduction with the supervisors a Greenwood. It was comfortable and clear. This will be Blanches second year at Greenwood. She is so happy and all is well! Greenwood Place has done an excellent job with my mother by taking care of her needs as well as keeping her safe. My mother isn’t the easiest to deal with, but they’ve handled her very well. The nurses are on top of everything and keep in contact to make sure the family is up to date. My only recommendation is for the front office to maybe make themselves a checklist of everything the that needs signing at the time of enrollment, as very important papers were missed that were necessary for on going payment which has caused frustration and has been inconvenient. Otherwise, the facility and staff take care of the residents and the nurses take their role seriously and we are extremely appreciative of them.

Greenwood Memory Care was the third place my mother lived. It was superior in many ways. My opinion is that the staff is an assisted living place’s greatest asset. But there has to be good administration and financial resources to support the staff. Greenwood was strong in all these areas. No place is perfect and staff are usually overworked and under-paid, because we can’t pay them enough for what they do - but Greenwood gave me my life back. I was able to feel at peace with my mother there. They communicated well, she was clean, her room and bathroom were spotless, she began to smile again, and they had activities for the memory care patients. They didn’t just sit them in front of the TV. They would send me pictures and videos of my mom participating in the activities. Shortly after moving her there, she responded more positively to her caregivers than to me! That was a wonderful thing. Each resident needs a loved one to visit and be responsible for their care. We should monitor their meds, their dental care, and supply their personal care items and clothing. We should take them out, if they are able. We should do all we can for them. But we need a place like Greenwood to enable us to care for ourselves, our families, our friends, our jobsThey provide such an important service and I am grateful to them. Be sure to show caregivers and supervisors and other staff as much appreciation as you can. I feel confident recommending Greenwood Place.

If you want fancy this is not the place for you or your loved one. If you want a place that feels more like home, you will find it at Greenwood Place. My mom has been in memory care at Greenwood for almost 6 years. I will not lie. I have thought about moving her multiple times over the years. Under the new management things have improved exponentially. Memory Care no longer seems like the red-headed stepchild at the dinner table. Shylonda is wonderful and loves the residents. She wants them to feel like they are home. I can't say enough good things about the staff she has hired. I only give Greenwood a four star rating because there are still some improvements that can be made aesthetically and in housekeeping. I want to add, I don't go every once in awhile. I go at least 3 to 4 times a week and observe everything.

Greenwood Place is like a family! Stephen Miller maintains a highly professional business, while also creating an upbeat, happy, safe, family environment. Stephen and the entire staff work hard to coordinate the care plan for each resident, as well as arranging a variety of social activities appropriate for senior living. The residents have the opportunity to be as busy as they choose. You will always feel welcome and free to ask any questions. My mother has progressed from the assisted living section to the memory care section over the past several years. My Dad was recently at Greenwood Place, he was happy with the overall care of the staff, the facilities, and the day to day operations. When his health declined their were several stages that he went through quickly. We are all human and making adjustments quickly based on several different doctors and health care professional can be overwhelming. I believe that the Greenwood staff did their best to make the necessary accommodations. From the very first introduction to his departure, and after, any concerns that I brought to the attention of executive director were dealt with immediately, to the point, and straight forward. I looked at several other facilities before making the choice to go with Greenwood with help from my family. When you compare them to the others they have the ability to take care of all the necessary arrangements. It can be very confusing and overwhelming when you go through placing your loved one for the first time. The Greenwood staff gave me honest opinions good and bad as to how they were different from the other assisted living communities. If you looking for a overall care from the beginning to the end it is my opinion they are more capable of assisting with the entire process. I witness this as I was there almost every day for months.
