Staff at the The Retreat are very caring, they helped make the transition as easy as possible. They go above and beyond to engage the residents In the activities that they have regularly planned. We were pleasantly shocked when they told us that Mom was attending the game and puzzle events. She has never been a social person, but with their gentle, continuous invitations and loving persuasions, she is enjoying being with people. Even during Covid restrictions and quarantine, they made sure residents had stimulation, Santa even came to visit. Moms not one to give much praise, but she has said time and again they make the best broccoli and cheese soup. Moms been a resident in the apartments in the main building there 7 months now, and has settled in quite nicely and made some friends. We are thrilled to have found The Retreat and have been very pleased with the staff. The facility has recently been beautifully remodeled and now feels even more like home for the residents. Its a bit of a drive for us, but definitely worth it knowing Mom is happy and well taken care of.

My father was living at the retreat for the last 2-3 months of his life. It was like home away from home! He had such precious nurses and people that really showed him so much love! We are so appreciative for everyone who was involved in his care, especially during Covid! We were really grateful for Brittany the nurse and Jessica the staffing SV. Jessica Watts has since become like family to us! We will be forever grateful for the experience that my father had at the Retreat!

Great staff who goes the extra mile for our loved one, especially during very trying times with Covid19. It was not easy for our family member with dementia to transition to Assisted Living during a pandemic but The Retreat worked diligently with us to make certain she had the best care and to find a balance for her to be as happy as dementia will allow her to be. With visitation restrictions its very hard for families and residents to stay connected. The staff works so hard to help keep us connected. I cant say enough about this staff and the dedication they put forth for their residents and their families. Thank you!

An extremely difficult decision was realizing our mother could no longer stay in her home because of her becoming feeble and her being diagnosed with dementia. Even with the help of several personal care providers it just was not working out and we could not provide the care and oversight needed. The family feels very fortunate that the Retreat (formerly The Southern Plantation) was located nearby and we believe it is an excellent assisted living facility. Our making the transition to The Retreat could not have gone more smoothly with the help from Linda Kinnersley, Misty Page, Kathy Myers and the entire staff. With just the few weeks our mother has been at The Retreat, we see improvement in her general condition thanks to the quality care and services provided by The Retreat. James Camp

When it became apparent that my friend of over forty years was no longer able to live by himself, we visited Southern Plantation looking for an assisted living facility that would meet his needs. From the very first warm welcome by Nancy Griggs, Director of Sales and Marketing, we felt like we were among friends. After a delicious lunch consisting of soup, salad, entree with 2 vegetables, and a desert prepared by a master chef, we toured the very clean and nice smelling facility, looking at several different sized rooms (all with private baths). During our visit, we were greeted by many various staff members (maintence, house services, office personnel, etc) and everyone was friendly and pleasant. Nancy spent a couple of hours with us and worked tirelessly to help us get the right room that would meet my friend's budget constraints, and also provide him with the necessary care he needs. And I am very pleased that each resident receives a personal "I need immediate help" button to wear around their neck for those unexpected emergency moments that may occur anytime during the 24 hour day. All this coupled with daily activities, scheduled shopping trips, transportation to doctors, and health checks makes me very happy to recommend Southern Plantation to anyone in need of a facility of friends to assist them in their senior years.

I would like to Thank Alison Reid and all the staff at Southern Plantation in Loganville, Georgia for making my Dad feel at home for the second he walked through the door until he moved away. The very first day we toured the facility Alison was as gracious of a Hostess as one could expect and the entire staff that I cannot even begin to mention all the names treated my Dad with respect and like he was part of the entire extended family. Soley based on financial reason we have had to relocate my Dad and he and my immediate family will miss the Staff and residents of Southern Plantation.........I cannot say enough great things about the facility and would highly recommend it to all that ask. Thanks again Alison for all you did for Bingo Bob and my entire family and putting our minds at ease that my dad was always well taken care of at Southern Plantation. Also Thanks to Barbara for the BIG HUG Sunday it meant alot

Southern Plantation is a wonderful place. My mother moved in 7 years ago in a Cottage and eventually moved into the Manor House because she needed more assistance. Just this past year her dementia got the best of her and she now lives in the Memory unit. The staff has been absolutely amazing in each area that she has lived. I highly recommend Southern Plantation to all of my friends and family. I thought that the food might be different in the memory unit but much to my surprise it is the same wonderful meals she has always eaten, I enjoy the times I eat with her. It gives me a peace of mind that since I can't be with her all the time that she is loved and taken care of by the workers there.

This was a very good place ten years ago. Now they state Our residents and residents families receive valuable peace of mind knowing that a certified nurse is on call 24 hours a day on the web site. Not true for independent living folks now. The food service is now out of frozen packages and not like Dining Directors and Executive Chefs meet with residents to discuss and incorporate enhancements to the menu, special requests, diet restrictions and favorite recipes or foods. Residents can select healthy, locally sourced options based on the nutritional information, or they can simply opt to choose their favorites they say on the web site. They are always raising rates and not taking care of the residences. The wooden frames around the windows are dry rotted out. They stopped having birthday cakes twelve times a year. They instituted a $2 fee to ride the bus (since rescinded) to activities. The Chicago offices are trying to make Loganville GA be a cookie cutter. My Mom is staying because of the residents and in spite of the management. The management asks the community to have a council only to not take action on items proposed yearly over the past ten years.

My mother moved into Southern Plantation about 4 months ago and it has been a phenomenal place for her. She is quiet a bit stubborn right now, and has been pretty dependent on my siblings and I for the past couple years. I couldn't be happier with the treatment that SP gives my mother. The staff up there loves my mom as if she is part of their own family. They keep a phenomenal eye on her and call us or text us anytime there is an issue. Also, even in the fact of my mother being so stubborn at the moment about not wanting to be social or get out and about around the community she has somehow been adopted by three other ladies who live on her hall. They look out for mom also and make my mom sit with them during meal times. Another aspect that I like about SP compared to some other facilities is the amount of property that they have. My mother is in the Assisted Living building, which sits on the middle of a very large property that has probably close to 40 or 50 independent apartments. And all of this is 1/2 a mile from downtown Loganville, but still in nature. I love getting out there to see mom as its a break from my life in downtown Atlanta. All of that to say, my sisters an I did our homework and visited about 12 places before we and mom made a decision as to where mom should move, and given all of our preferences with combined factors SP seemed to be #1 on the list and they have proved that they really are #1 on that list over the course of the past 4 months.
