Travel Nurse Review: The nursing home is clean and clutter free. The staff is friendly and helpful. Residents receive great quality care that is above the norm. of what I've encountered while traveling. Lastly, all medications and supplies were readily available. I would definitely work at this facility again.

All of the staff at Delmar Gardens were respectful towards my parents that lived there for 1 1/2 years. They transitioned into several living arrangements and were very well taken care of by all. I highly recommend this facility which is lovely but also the staff who really goes the extra mile.

I placed my mom in this nursing home for her rehab period after her knee replacement. This place has been a God send. The Administrator, her Assistant, the Therapists, the Nurses and the Housekeeping staff are fabulous! The facility is so ecstatically pleasing and super clean! My mom told me that she'll actually miss this place when she is released. When was the last time you heard someone enjoy being at a nursing home, especially when you're self sufficient? One word describes Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett, WOW!!!

I couldn't be happier with the experience my mother has had living at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett for the past almost 3 years. My mother is only 72 years old, and is living in the skilled nursing side requiring full care. When she was 68 she was still living in her own home by herself and driving. Within the course of two years she had a back surgery and then an open heart surgery. After that she sort of lost her will to be independent and had fallen a couple times which resulted in a large fear of walking again. My sisters and I did everything we could to support and empower my mom to make a full recovery. I even moved in with her for a while, but she couldn't seem to become independent again. She jumped around from multiple rehab places to hospitals to ER rooms and eventually to an assistant living facility out in Monroe, GA. She took another fall at that facility and ended up in rehab again. One day visiting that rehab facility I found my mom sitting in her own soiled clothes in a wheel chair. I'm a very patient and kind person, but to see my mother like that I broke down crying in the hallway and clearly let the management know how disappointed I was (I'm sure it was a spectacle to watch a 31 year old man wailing and weeping on a floor, but I have learned through many many medical visits with my mom, 'The squeaky wheel gets the grease,' and I do not mind being a squeaky wheel for my mom). While she was there my sister and I visited every single personal care home, assisted living facility and nursing home in Gwinnett County. Every. Single. One. We were very impressed with Delmar Gardens. At the time they were at full capacity, but the director had empathy with us and we found a way to get mom transferred to their rehab facility and after finishing her rehab program got mom in a room in the skilled nursing side. As a 34 year old son it deeply saddens me that my mom, who is only 72 now, is living in a skilled nursing facility. I hate that we couldn't come up with a better solution. HOWEVER, in the past three years that my mom has been living there, she has never once had a complaint about the quality of care. I recently moved to Nashville, TN, but prior to my move I visited my mom randomly at least twice a week and would eat lunch or dinner with her and take her on strolls outside and sit by the pond and feed the ducks. I have never once seen her mistreated, nor have I heard of any other resident being mistreated up there. In fact I have been very surprised by the facts that many of the staff know about my mom's life. I can tell that they sit and listen to her. They know her story, not just what medications she needs and when she needs to take them. What better than to have people to know your story? Even now that I'm in Nashville, I am afforded the luxury of visit mom every couple weeks because a lot of my work is still in Atlanta. I am eternally grateful for Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett and through the multiple conversations I have had with the staff there - Valarie, Ruth, Helen, Nikki, etc, I do truly believe they see my mom as family and I know that is the type of care she is receiving. Honestly, I have no idea what we would be doing right now if we hadn't have found and been able to get my mom in to Delmar.

My mother is about to be 100 and has lived at Delmar Gardens for many years. I would give Delmar the highest review. The staff is friendly and caring. In fact, they have become "family" to my mother. The facility and its activities are remarkable. If one is in doubt, simply visit Delmar and you will soon appreciate all it has to offer.

I was a patient in the nursing center. I was there for rehab and physical therapy. The physical therapists were great. The management and nursing staff was rude, inefficient,indifferent and cruel to the patients that could not report them. The food was a horror, mostly carbs and always cold. Thy called 1 small chicken wing a serving of protein. The scary part was they did not know how to care for orthopedic post op. They sprayed my incision keeping it wet when the staples were to remain dry. This caused problems and my surgeon was very upset. I needed for my legs to be lifted when getting in bed keeping my body straight. They would grab my feet and sling them on the bed. The lady in the room with me had an upset stomach all night. I asked them to disinfect the bathroom. They said they could not get to any disinfectant until maintenance came in at 6 am. It was 8am before they cleaned that bathroom. The assisted living side seem to be fine. Better food and friendly efficient staff. The walker that they were to order for me has never arrived. Stay out of the nursing center. Don't let them fool you they can put on quite a show for prospective patients.
