Washington Commons has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk through the doors. The team truly cares about the residents and works hard to create a community where everyone feels valued, included, and at home. What stands out most is the sense of community. There are plenty of opportunities for residents to socialize, make friends, and enjoy life while still maintaining their independence. The staff is friendly, compassionate, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure residents and families feel supported. The community itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a comfortable environment that feels more like home than a facility. It’s clear that kindness, connection, and quality of life are priorities here. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one can enjoy independence while being surrounded by caring people and a positive environment, Washington Commons is definitely worth considering.

I have been a resident of Washington Commons for 3 months. I moved her far away from my family in Indiana. I have had my share of struggles and a lot of anxiety about being alone. However, after the first week I felt at home and well taken care of. Haley checks in on me daily and ensures i eat. Caroline helped me get things in order with the VA. The food is great and I have been eating full and healthy meals 3 times a day. I have not felt this good and healthy in a long time. I can not thank them enough. I have amazing neighbors and love living here.

Last Friday, we decided to pay a visit to Washington Commons by Barclay House as a possible next step in the rest of our life. We did not have an appointment but we were treated just as well as if we did. Caroline Bradshaw is a very knowledgeable community sales manager and showed us around, answered our questions and made us feel very much at home. Whether you are a drop-in visitor or have a scheduled appointment, we think you will find it just as charming as we did. Oh, and did I mention that we are not easily impressed. We have spent 30 yrs. in senior housing housing ourselves before retirement and know what to look for.

Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough to convey the gratitude I have for the love, care and assistance that Kristi and her crew at WC have given to my father. Moving him from a cottage to an apartment at a most difficult time wasn’t an easy task, but the smooth transition and the quality of care have exceeded my expectations. The employees of WC are so very kind and caring to their residents! That’s why we love our WC family!

I can’t say enough good things about my mom’s assisted living facility. From the moment we arrived, Christine Munns, Caroline Bradshaw, Gina, Michaela, and Staci”just to name a few”have gone above and beyond to make both my mom and our entire family feel welcome. They have a true gift for connecting with residents and their families. They took the time to get to know my mom personally and helped her feel at home right away. Christine does an incredible job introducing residents to one another and encouraging involvement in the community’s many activities, which is so important for older adults making this major transition from their homes into this new chapter of life. The activities calendar is outstanding”there’s truly something for everyone, and the staff puts in so much effort to keep things engaging, fun, and meaningful. From group outings and games to crafts and live music, there’s always something to look forward to. It makes such a difference in the residents’ lives. They also have an on-site hair salon, which is such a wonderful perk. It gives residents a sense of normalcy, independence, and dignity”plus it’s a lovely way for them to treat themselves and socialize. Staci does a wonderful job and also is a friend to all the residents. Another key part of our positive experience has been the Right At Home services. Rachel, Michaela, Benji, and Taylor are all compassionate, attentive, and always available. Whether it’s help with daily needs, medication reminders, or just making sure my mom is comfortable and happy, they’re there. The entire team is incredibly responsive and genuinely cares. Since I work out of town frequently, it brings me so much peace of mind knowing that my mom is safe, cared for, and truly part of a community. Everyone keeps a loving, watchful eye on her, and I cannot express how much that support has meant to us. We are so grateful.

As a resident of five years I have never seen the general feeling of Washington Commons reflect such a positive forward looking atmosphere. Christi Cowart truly listens to our concerns and addresses them to our satisfaction if she possibly can.

Christi the General Manager is extremely helpful and pleasant to everyone. We wouldn't trade her for anybody, she does what what it takes to get the job done. She is always in control of the situation at all times. We are lucky to have her.

So far so good! The staff has been very friendly and helpful. The accomodations are affordable and nice. Management and staff have gone above and beyond to help my mom transition to living there. The residents have been great at welcoming her and the ones I have spoken to love the community. It's an independent living community but everyone seems to get to know each other and help each other out. Highly recommended.

My parents moved to Washington Commons in March. Christie had just been appointed General Manager and we are so so thankful!!! A previous employee has made many promises as far as the apartment they would move into. She gave us a date when a renter was still in that particular apartment. When we found this out, it did not set a good tone for my parents future. We were going elsewhere. Christie helped immensely and has kept all of her promises. She also gets right in there with the residents and workers. My parents absolutely love the food!! They clean their plates. I have eaten there too and enjoyed it! We have taken advantage of some in house resources such as the salon and Right at Home. All of the workers we have come in contact with are so kind and helpful! They recognize my parents, smile and speak. It means the world to us. A smile goes a long ways! God bless the maintenance guy Anthony! We all know the facility is older so he has his hands full. But he gets it done!! Any time a work order gets put in, especially if it’s urgent, he is on top of it! The ONLY reason I did not give a 5 is that there are still upgrades that could really make Washington Commons a 5. The air units are old and the filters need regular cleaning. My son cleaned them about a month ago. Small complaint. I know it is getting better. I’m witnessing the transformation! The residents seem happier too. We are so happy to be a part of the Washington Commons community! I have already started seeing some good changes with the new Barclay owners. I hope it continues!!

The staff that the Gm has been one of the best that I have in the last 6 years. The Gm is one of the most professional that I have had, no question about it. We are lucky to have her here. I am very grateful to her and proud that I can call her my friend .

Stopped in on a whim. Did not even know this place was here. Sorry I wasted my time. This community is a disaster. Old, run down, not sufficiently operational for elderly. It is under renovations but I was told this has been in process for months and now close to being finished. Spoke to a few residents sitting out front. They are not happy with the food, housekeeping, or management. The woman at the front desk seemed rude and confused. At first I thought she was a resident until she introduced herself. Not a good impression for a manager. I didn't even ask for a tour. My mom deserves better. Would not recommend this place AT ALL!

I scheduled a tour for a friend looking for a new home that can offer her independent living. We met with Beth, the site manager. Beth was very organized and had a great personality, she made us feel right at home. All of the residents seemed very happy there and the staff appeared unobtrusive and incredibly organized. This place has great amenities. We toured a smaller unit which actually was perfect for one. Everything about Washington Commons is well thought out. Even though there were tons of people every where, it didn't feel crowded because of the atrium styled architecture which incorporated a great open concept in all the main common spaces. My friend said this tour has really opened her eyes to possibilities she hadn't considered before. Washington Commons is on her short list and I believe she could be very happy there. Thank you Beth!

My husband and I moved into Washington Commons after we put our house on the market in 2012. We've been in and out of various assisted living communities due to my husband's declining health. He is now in a nursing home thus I want to move out of "assisted living". I visited Washington Commons and rented an apartment today. I found the building to have been renovated and looking very nice. I can't say enough about the staff. They've already made me feel at home.

Not a good place if you have medically necessary needs include someone to help you. They are a residential property for the elderly if you are able to take care of yourself. Once you get to a point where you can't, you have to find somewhere else to live. The people are nice, but many residents have things go missing and they never show back up ”.

It was 2016 when I had direct information about this place. A gentleman (who I will not name because I do not have his permission to do so, but he is an amazing US Army Vet in his 80s who is very active and sharp as a tack!) that I would do some household chores for decided he would move into this facility as he thought he might enjoy the company and he was sure he would enjoy not having to cook. He was going to keep his house and his daughter had concerns. I helped him both before, during, after his move there-- and at that time-- he was very happy. He said he really liked the menu, that they kept everything tidy and he didn't have to cook so it kept what he had to do lower-- he was able to devote his energy to what he wanted to do-- which was his garden and a card game with his vet friends! Lol He was very satisfied with this place, happy he could come and go as he pleased, and happy he was able to have company of the people his age there as well. He had been a widower for many many years. My DH and I were stationed in Germany, retiring just in time for the corona lockdown and I have not reached out to my friend but I with many places not getting credit for caring about their older folks, I am sure that my friend felt that this place did-- I can only hope that the covid crisis did not change anything.
