I feel very comfortable with her living at Sunrise & appreciate the caring of the caregivers & staff. I lived on 1st floor Assisted Living for 4 months when my wife moved in. My husband was at Sunrise of Decatur and needed Hospice Care. They were open to allowing me to request the Hospice Care he needed. The Med Techs and nurses were instrumental in helping with his care. The professional staff were always available to help whenever I had a question. When he passed, I felt the whole community being supportive. I couldn't ask for more.

My mother is very hard to please. As of now she is having fun with the reading club and other activities. She is always going to complain about the food wherever she goes. But the complaints about the food are less at Sunrise of Decatur.

We've been very happy with the assisted living community where my father resides. The caretakers are truly excellent”they genuinely care about each individual resident. The med-techs are precise, knowledgeable, and consistently timely with medications. Overall, the staff is outstanding: responsive, communicative, and always ready to help solve problems. The community itself is welcoming and inclusive, with a warm, home-like atmosphere (pets included!), and the cleanliness and upkeep are consistently impressive. No place is perfect, but this one comes very close.

I had the opportunity of attending an event with some friends here.The exterior of the community is well maintained. I like the warm feeling that you get when you enter. The workers were very attentive to the residents. The atmosphere was happy. The people that live there were pleasant and complimented the staff. The chef Kirk and his team made some tasty dishes. I enjoyed the appetizers. Thank you to everyone at Sunrise Decatur for all you do for the elderly.

The activities, the nursing staff, everyone at this location has always shown nothing but love, professionalism, and dedication to the residents there. I had the responsibility to look after my Aunt once she had dementia. I moved her down from Wisconsin to be close to me at Sunrise of Decatur. She was at this location for about 7 years prior to her passing a few weeks ago. I have nothing but good things to say about Sunrise. My Aunt was always happy there and always complimentary of the facility. I always felt like she was safe and secure there. The rooms were nice and the food was good. But many of the staff were just excellent and took very good care of her. I appreciate everything they did for my Aunt during her stay there. Sylvia in Remanicense was particularly good to her. Running an assisted living facility to the satisfaction of the residents' families has got to be one of the hardest tasks on earth. We moved my mother to Sunrise Decatur in April 2022, and she is happier and healthier now than she was then. She likes the food and feels she is in the company of friends. The managements and staff care about the residents, and have been responsive to our concerns when issues arise. I'm puzzled by reviews claiming an infestation of cockroaches, but do agree that some of the staff are truly exceptional!

My mom lived at Sunrise for 3 1/2 years and I have to say it was a good experience overall. She enjoyed all the activities and was in much better shape physically (due to better nutrition and supplements) than she was while living on her own. The staff was very communicative regarding Covid and their protocols resulted in very few cases for the the residents at a time when other facilities had many cases and deaths. I know they truly cared for my mom and I appreciate the staff there so much.

Sunrise of Decatur offers residents comfort, independence and happiness. An experienced team of designated care managers are here to serve each residents unique needs. A dedicated kitchen staff that focuses on each and every senior’s nutrition and each residents dining preferences. We had a loved one here and was very grateful for how they took care of my grandma. The staff is great, caring and friendly. They are fully trained and very hands on.

The tour experience was great. If you can make my father excited, then you're good at what you do. Sunrise seems like a very nice place to live. The facility was clean and bright. The staff was warm and friendly. From the dinner that we enjoyed, to the resident pooch, the experience was a very good one. My normally resistant father left the tour in a great mood. Now, that's something to talk about.

When my mother could no longer take care of herself the staff threw her clothes anywhere. Her room was messy and not cared for. Things were taken from her room after she died. Some of the staff cared and tried to help her, but I would not recommend this facility during Covid.

Dear Sunrise Management, I am not interested in discussing these issues with your facility. Of course no facility could ever do anything "perfectly," this was my experience for the 1.5 years. Bed bugs, multiple falls yet some very caring daily staff members. My mom resided at this facility for a little over 1 year. While no one will ever take care of your family like you, this isn't always feasible. I chose this facility because it was close to my job at the hospital and in an affluent neighborhood. Once she had a fall, I asked if the staff had placed ice on the wound and I was told they had none. Another time I came to visit her, as per usual, at random times, and I found that she was moved to another location. I was paying thousands of dollars monthly, I was aghast to find that there were bed bugs, which I was not told about. Not to mention, I had to beg them, on the dementia ward, to give my mother plain water. Not the daily "juice," drink, which no doubt contributed to her multiple UTIs. The management in the dementia ward, at that time was a revolving door. The two stars are for the AMAZING daily staff that DID THEIR BEST to take care of mom. They informed me that the monthly hair do's I was paying for mom actually had not been done in months and that they were washing her hair. There are some EXCELLENT OLDER AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN working there at that time on the DEMENTIA WARD. THEY honestly seemed to care. I cannot say so much for the dementia ward upper management. I had a more connected relationship to billing than a ward manager. Nice place, very pretty, but not worth the money. I cannot speak for any other wards within this facility.

My mom has been here for three months and has adapted to the change well. There are multiple meal choices, salad and soup at each meal and an effort to focus on hydration. The staff makes a point of keeping residents together with an eyes on approach to keep them safe. LIke all facilities I'd like to see more focus on live music. They do play music which residents enjoy. There is a dog and cat who roam around too. The staff works hard! They are attentive to their needs. Thank you!

My mother has now been on the memory care floor at Sunrise of Decatur for more than half a year, and I have been very pleased with the loving care she receives. It is a peaceful. lovely setting.

My grandmother has been a resident there for about 2 months now it is a beautiful building very tasteful furniture and decorations looks like a resort hotel very nice. BUT most of the service staff is rude and not accommodating at all. Grandmother gets left in her bathroom unattended for too long all she can do is wait for help and they usually don't even come if she pulls the call button. I just called tonight about an issue and could not even understand the phone attendant she did not speak good English so I asked for someone in charge and she put another non English person on the phone. Grandmother says on weekends the staff is barely around checking on her. My Grandmother is probably not happy there and very demanding but I still don't like the way they are treating her and other resident as I have noticed if I stay for dinner.
