My 90 year old mother has been living at Cherry Laurel in Tallahassee since May 2025 and Chef Jimmie is amazing!!! Mom has a food allergy but that hasn't detered him from making sure she enjoys her special meals which is a challenge so we just want to give a "shout out" for Chef Jimmie, you are awesome!!! Valerie, Donna and Tyrone, all that you do for these residents is also greatly appreciated!

Hospitable staff, clean and well managed, seemingly happy residence oh not to mention the first class dining in a beautiful banquet hall for their residence prepared daily by an actual Chef!!! Not at all a bad place for permanent living or a home away from home for our seniors.

My mother had the pleasure of living at Cherry Laurel for just about two years. We recently had her move into an assisted living facility closer to us, but Cherry Laurel was the perfect place for her after downsizing from her home in Tallahassee. We found all of the staff members to be caring, dedicated, and professional. Valerie is a terrific leader and always has a smile on her face. My mom so enjoyed dancing with her on Wednesday afternoons! Donna went above and beyond to make Cherry Laurel feel like home. She decorates beautifully for every holiday and does whatever she can to include residents in activities. I'd also give a big shout out to Tyrone and the head chef. These are terrific individuals who have been with Cherry Laurel for decades. If you go to visit, ask about how long key staff have been in their positions. It speaks to a deep commitment to the community and residents. We looked at numerous places before choosing Cherry Laurel and we were very happy with our decision!

My MIL moved to Cherry Laurel last year and in no time at all was happier than I had seen her in years. She said she felt like she was on a cruise with the good food and activities. The staff go above and beyond expectations. I would especially like to thank Valerie and Donna for their love and attention recently when our mom had a hospital stay. I think she was motivated to heal quicker so she could return to Cherry Laurel!

Valerie Walker and the staff at Cherry Laurel are all fabulous. My friend lived here and the care and friendship of everyone was more than I could ask for since I live in another state. Valerie went above and beyond caring for my friend even after he was moved to a long-term care facility. That is the kind of care I believe people should look for when finding a place for their loved ones.

I recently moved into Cherry Laurel and I love it here. Everyone here is kind and the food is fantastic. Every Wednesday we party with Carty. It makes me happy and make me feel like I'm on a Cruise Ship!;; This is the best ever!!!!

I recently toured Cherry Laurel with my 92 year old mother-in-law. As a first impression, I have nothing but positive things to say. The sales manager who led the tour was kind and informative - we didn't have many remaining questions to ask after our meeting/tour. We ran into the head manager, who seemed caring and quickly established a connection with my mother-in-law that made us feel she would be in safe place. We looked at studios and 1br apartments; all were clean and seemed to be well maintained when we tested different facets of the apartments. The common areas of the building are now being renovated in increments, which should be a nice change for the residents. After touring several independent, senior living apartments in town, we have decided Cherry Laurel is the right place for us!

I came down from the north to find a place to live. I toured a few places then came to Cherry Laurel. After taking a tour with Valerie I didn't need to look anymore because she was awesome and I knew this was the place to be. Donna does a great job planning activities and outings too.

From my experience at working at Cherry Laurel I can tell you firsthand how AMAZING the staff is! They truly are one of a kind and deeply care about the residents who live there. Valerie Walker is the General Manager and has been in that role for almost a year and a half and she is one of the best people/managers I have ever worked for. She keeps that place running with a smile on her face even when difficulties arise. Donna Cross is the Activities Director and her passion is to make the residents laugh and truly enjoy their time with extravagant parties and her love of calling bingo! Jimmie Patterson and Michelle Vann are the outstanding chefs who run the kitchen and never ceased to amaze me with the quality of food they would create everyday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Cherry Laurel will feel like your new home or a home away from home, but I would recommend my own grandparents to live there! I sadly relocated to another state but I miss each and every one of them as well as the residents every single day! You guys do amazing work and I will forever miss my Cherry Laurel family!!

My mom has been at Cherry Laurel for over a year, and we love it! The one bedroom apartments are nice and roomy, and the balcony looks out over a beautiful green space. Cherry Laurel is a small community where everyone knows everyone. The staff are so warm and welcoming. The director, Valerie knows every one by name. Ms Donna plans fun activities- like bingo, craft days, special events and outings to local restaurants. The rest of the staff are sweet, kind and truly care about the residents! I am so grateful to all of the staff at Cherry Laurel- it’s truly a special place!

My mother was in Cherry Laurel for five years. During her stay there , everyone was very helpful and it was run efficiently. Valerie, (the current Director) was especially helpful and quick to solve any problems my mother or myself brought up. The rooms are spacious. Ms Donna plans wonderful activities for the residents. Dancing with Dave on Wednesdays was a favorite of my moms. I would recommend Cherry Laurel to anyone that is considering it.

Oct 12, 2018 Many thanks to Cherry Laurel Tallahassee for the safe-keeping or our 90+ year old parents, Al & Millie, during Hurricane Michael. A special thanks to Debbie the manager who, although her house had a tree fall on it, remained at the residence to care for all the seniors – she is a real hero who has gone above and beyond our expectations in caring for our parents – and thanks to her team who kept everything running as smoothly as possible, give the circumstance - it is very much appreciated. Thank you for the large generator that was delivered to turn the lights on and special thanks to the workers who worked so diligently and quickly in getting Tallahassee back to rights in such quick time. Youre all our heroes!!!

While the facilities are clean and up to snuff, its never going to win any awards. Very similar to every other retirement home youll find across America, happy to take residents money for limited services in return. Id love to see them add a second (and third!) working elevator before -- Heaven forfend -- an emergency crops up. The food is less than spectacular, clearly not a top priority for the site managers, sadly.
